Thank you for your patience and dedication to sharing such an awesome example of how we take so many beautiful things for granted. I am happy to say my couple made their temporary home a few days ago on my patio pillar. I’m looking thru my windows many times a day.. it brings me joy 🧡

Thank you!!! The static was driving me nuts!! I was licking my finger tips while I was playing (which works great for maybe 30 seconds). I’m on my way out to buy some drier sheets!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

What a beautiful video; thank you so much for producing this. I just love the little doves. I feed the birds on my back deck and have tons of visitors. I also have lots of trees in the back and the birds will sit on the branches and watch me while I fill the feeders. I can watch them from my kitchen window. Today, I observed two sweet little doves going through a courtship dance on the railing of my back deck. Nature is a great stress reliever! Again, thank you so much for such a heartwarming video. God bless you!

Amazing. My Fender Player started crackling on the neck pickup. Google took me in the direction of static, and then I found this video. Never realised before, but when tested, the pick guard made the noises in your video. Used a fabric surface cleaner and it did the job (no drier sheets). Thanks

Thankyou for this beautiful footage. I have two mourning doves nesting on my satellite dish in my back garden. Today i found a broken white egg underneath. I'm not entirely sure if it contained part of a baby bird forming or it's rolled out as the nest doesn't seem that secure or very big to contain a family; or the egg has just hatched and parents have got rid of the shell. I was unable to put it back as too high for me. I'm hoping it's the latter. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as it quite upset me.🙏

The real solution is shielding the pickguard and making sure is grounded
@Weird_Old_Uncle_Kenny

If I have another, more important reason to remove the pickguard, such as repairs, upgrades to the pickups and/or electronics, or to address electronic noise "hum" issues, I wholeheartedly agree with you, and that is indeed my practice. That is the permanent solution... However, if the ONLY issue I have is pickguard "pop", wiping requires NO tools, virtually no effort, just seconds in time, virtually no expense in materials, and NO expertise whatsoever. It works, and it works well. For awhile, anyway. When it does fail, you just do it again, and I carry a box of dryer sheets in my gig bag. So, bottom line, I'm NOT going to pull off my pickguard for this reason alone. I will just wipe every month or 2 until, if and when, I do have a better reason to do that work. AND this method also works on that guitar you just bought this afternoon, but want to play at the gig tonight!

Pigeon milk actually is a secretion made in the bird's crop, it isn't from the bird's stomach contents. It's kind of like.. well, milk. It's fatty.

They were probably okay, so long as the babies were able to get up on some branches, even if they couldn’t fly at first. Dove nests are not known for their quality, and many fall early. The parents know where the young are and feed/teach them for a good amount of time as they learn to fly and feed themselves.

When were the eggs fertilized?
@Weird_Old_Uncle_Kenny
@Weird_Old_Uncle_Kenny 8 ай бұрын
The eggs are fertilized the same way babies are created by us. It's called sexual reproduction. That's not generally done in the nest, so it's not part of the video...

It has been extremely hot here in Katy Texas. I go out every morning and evening to spray down mt hanging plant on the patio. On Saturday, Aug 12, 2023, as I started to mist my plant, a morning dove fluttered out of the other side. Mommy was not very happy with me and flew up to our neighbors roof, making all sorts of noise. As I took the hanging plant down, both mom & dad watched intently. I noticed a very well constructed nest with 1 egg. No wonder mom was mad 😮 I hung the plant back up, and thankfully, they came back to sit on the egg 😊 The temperature has been between 102 to 104 deg. I am not sure if it is still okay to spray the plant in the morning. I have done so the last few mornings, and mom will leave for a few minutes and come back. Is a little misting okay to keep the plant alive and cool the area down from the intense heat? I also put a container of water out u 0:47 nder the umbrella for them.😮
@Weird_Old_Uncle_Kenny
@Weird_Old_Uncle_Kenny 9 ай бұрын
That's not an easy call on the misting. Causing them to leave the nest is not great, but of course you don't want your plants to die, either. Now, regarding food and water: DO NOT put it within view of the nest. It will attract others, including predators, to the nest. You'll want to put it AWAY from the nest, such as in the other yard, with sight barriers (such as a house!). No matter where you put it, they will find it...

@kennyjb2362 We recently discovered another nest in our front yard. I guess there is no place safe to put any water. The young chicks are 10 says old today, Sept. 5th, 2023. We noticed dad left the nest yesterday for quite a while. In the afternoon, I guess it was mom, was back in the nest. I read that they leave and come back periodically to feed the chick's. When I walk out a ways from the nest, these two Cutties are side by side awaiting one of their parents. The winds are supposed to pick up this afternoon with thunder and rain for about an hour or less. I hope it doesn't rock the hanging planter too much. Is there anything I can do to stabilize it? I'm not sure the birds picked a good place for the nest.

14:00 Ward used the mating call to get Wally's attention?
@Weird_Old_Uncle_Kenny
@Weird_Old_Uncle_Kenny 9 ай бұрын
It is the "full coo call" of the mourning dove, not just for mating. The male uses it to claim his territory, as well as to attract a female to it. However, both parents also use it to tell the kids that it's time to eat. First, they do it when the parents switch duty on the nest, to tell the babies it's time to eat. Then, the parents begin landing near the nest and making a call from there, first. Then, as the babies get very close to fledging, the parents repeatedly call from nearby. "It's dinner time, but it's over here." This is how they train them to leave the nest!

Just a question, do these type of birds cheat with other doves? Love the video!
@Weird_Old_Uncle_Kenny
@Weird_Old_Uncle_Kenny 9 ай бұрын
I have read that mourning doves are monogamous, they mate for life. However, I have heard from viewers that when a female visits a bird feeder, mated or not, she is often gang-molested by unmated males...

Thanks for this info, I was having this issue and could not figure out where it was coming from until I watched Uncle Kenny's video. I use regular guitar polish (Gibson brand) and a soft cloth to get rid of the static, just spray it on the cloth and rub it in, it will not harm your finish or the pickguard.

Thank you for sharing these precious videos. ❤ It was very sad about Beaver. I think Doves' are my favorite bird. I fed them millet last year just on the ground, but not this year. UPDATE: this morning the 2 baby doves flew out of nest at 6 am. I just realized there was a nest, like 1 or 2 days before this morning. I thought the Doves' just liked hangin' out in the tree right outside my kitchen/living room window where my I use my laptop at my table! UPDATE 2: I am sad, I just realized this morning that the two baby doves did Not fly out of their nest yesterday morning(at 6 am), I was still in bed but when I did get at 7 am the babies were gone. They were too young to fly out of the nest. A predator must have gotten them. I am sad.
