The "T" or "footrest" described above the hook, is an old technique used by eel anglers to avoid deep hooking.

Just a follow up. I purchased the Plumbezee float, one large and one small. I tested them in my pool, at known depth. First off, I will state the float does what it is marketed to do. It is ezee to use. Now to the good stuff. When you cast it out, give slack line, the float rises to the surface, the depth is from the bottom of the float, vice the top, in case that wasn't clear in the video. In a 6ft pool, I am 6' 3" tall I know the depth is not over my head, yet the float was consistently over my head when removed from the water. I had me mate watch and see as well. even in a calm pool, no current, the lead at the bottom and where the float surfaced was at an angle, not straight up and down. This added anywhere from 6" to 10" difference, as the line from rod tip to lead was at an angle. this would occur on any body of water. So, the exact depth will need to be adjusted. I have found that I would need to take two rods with me to use this in the most effective and accurate manner. One rod would have the float rigged up, and the other for fishing. This is so that I would not have to mess about removing the float tying on the fishing bits, etc... It works, not 100% accurate as described, but I can see it as a useful tool, but would still require adjustments. I would get depth, then measure that distance on my fishing setup then cast fishing setup out to make sure float is cocked right. A far as zigs, if you are fishing big waters, 20 to 30 depths, will get you in the ballpark of depth, but still need adjusting. Is it worth it overall. Yea its only a few bucks, quick work does keep water disturbance down, and that is what I would say is most valuable with it.

do you need to use a thick leader with this? Looks like the float might wobble back down n the retrieve?
@t3angling575
@t3angling575 3 жыл бұрын
@@frazzledazzle89, no. Actually using a thicker leader may hinder performance. The line when retrieved locks the float in place. I see this best used waggler fishing, as you can get depth very fast, one cast. Also, if you zig fish in depths around rod length or so, anything deeper than that and you have to start walking backwards to measure length. Under rod length depth it works.

@@t3angling575 Thanks, mine arrived yesterday, mainly using it for quick depth finding & zigs on waters with an average depth of 8 foot so i should be fine.

What will they think of next. I find this interesting. Here in the U.S. I don't know a bunch of anglers who fish with zigs. I like to catch Carp on various methods, keeps the game interesting to me. Some call me "Tarty", that is ok as I am OCD. LOL! I like this idea of this. Having comments below, I have not taken the opportunity to look into a Polaris Float. I waggler float fish from time to time, this will come in handy for finding depth, and I would like to catch Carp on zigs (unsuccessful as I am still trying to narrow down and learn more of the method). This will or should help find depth much faster than I am now with plummet leads and making multiple casts or dragging a lead and float through my intended swim. Thanks for the video. Question, is there a desired distance to place float from lead, or is that even a consideration? Cheers all!

Sorry, bolt rigs on Crucians or any Carp is entrapment, all that gear for a fish that tops out at 4lb is overkill.

The little bit of silicone tubing is too short IMO, also the peg it attaches to could be a bit longer to avoid losing your isotopes. And the tubing isn't going to last long from taking it off and putting it on. Enterprise might consider including a few bits of spare tubing for repairs. See Korum Starlight Holder Kit for eg, same price but can fit 8 rods of various tip diameters and plenty of spare tubing.
