Nice looking meter, Good review. I totally agree with the statement, " it's always good to keep at least one analog on hand" . There are a few things a digital meter just can not do, or at least does not do as well. Merry Christmas and may 2025 bring you prosperity...

Silly Question just thought i would ask as some shops will not work on car audio stuff. I have a dd audio m3c. It was given to me 6 years ago it powers on and goes into protection right away. I took it to a place in pueblo and the amp was never repaired just sat there for 8 months and got the run around? This happened 3 years back. Great video's thank you for your time.

It is really difficult to repair anything that you can not first buy parts for from the manufacturer or second have an abundance of broken units from which to cannibalize parts. Add to that manufacturer zeal for serialization (binding a device to another with specific ID or a chip to a specific radio or phone) makes repairing more niche devices more and more difficult if not impossible. It is not all that likely in a case presenting a fault of that nature that it is just some passive capacitor or resistor

This meter is finicky. I am only using it in this video because it's what I had in the drawer after my other died. You have to have a Thunderbolt USB C cable on the device side to get it to activate on this one. Even with the right cable, it can be a bit of adventure.

what type of copper tape are you using? i tried using copper tape that was supposed to be conductive on the adhesive side as well but it didn't work. i couldn't find the product you used in the video or in the description. is there an amazon affiliate link for your copper tape? great video btw :)
@MicroMageRepairАй бұрын
Unfortunately there isn't much in the way of identification on my tape rolls. I picked them up from an electronics surplus store (when there was still some of those around). It's vital to clean the adhesive side off before trying to solder with it. I usually solder the non adhesive side down then clean it off.

I repaired a cheap Ruby I bought on ebay the other day with the same issue. Someone tried replacing the battery and tore the + pad off. I soldered the negative terminal for the battery really well and just let the positive float after tinning it. Then I connected the R9 resistor to the positive battery tab with 30GA enameled wire. I also ran a wire to the VIA for the test pad (didn't know that just went to a test pad lol). Anyway, the clock works now and that battery isn't going anywhere it seems 😁 I also had to order some of those resistors as it was missing like you mentioned.
@MicroMageRepairАй бұрын
Awesome work! It will work fine floating. I repair the pad primarily for a little more security and esthetics. I probably still would on one I owned but only because I have the method down at this point. It's not necessary for function.

Is there much difference between the wxpp and the wxmp? And if you had the wxmp, is it worth getting the wxpp as well? Thanks
@MicroMageRepairАй бұрын
Yes.The WXPP gives you much finer tip options than the WXMP. It doesn't replace it though. Both irons do what they do really well.I have no regrets owning both. I use both on just about every job.
@SURGE101Ай бұрын
@ thanks so much, I’ll go ahead and get the wxpp as well. Really appreciate your help with this. Got the wxp120 and wxp 65 last week to go with the hot tweezers and wxmp that come with the station. Great video! Is it possible that this part can have issues even if it isn't missing any pins? I have tried replacing the sd card reader itself, and it still only works when applying pressure.
@MicroMageRepairАй бұрын
Yes very possible. The solder joints can develop micro fractures after heavy usage. Manufacturer solder is a bit brittle with age and wear. May need to find someone with the equipment to refresh them (takes a pretty fine tipped professional grade iron)

@@MicroMageRepair bought a heat gun with the LCD socket from Aliexpress. I'll give it a shot. Never done something like this.
@MicroMageRepair2 ай бұрын
@Ti0Luch0 I'd work up to it on some donor or trash boards of some sort with plastic connectors. Practice heating from below. Try and execute removal and replacement without damage. I definitely wouldn't try this cold, having never tried anything similar.

@@MicroMageRepair So, i've been burning some stuff and i have a concern. How long should the heat gun stay on the tin for it to melt? Did an analog stick replacement on a ps4 controller and it took a while, it even melted some of the plastic. Should i go high in temp or low and just give it time? I'm around 400 - 500 celcius.

If you put a little more twisting force on the locking rings that hold the connectors in place you will find that they will rotate a few more degrees and really lock them in place very well(er). I operated mine for like 5 years before i realized you could do that.

What stop all the components on the other side you are heating from poping out or get damaged by the heat???
@MicroMageRepair3 ай бұрын
Surface tension and the boards own built in heat dispersion is enough as long as you don't bump the board or otherwise displace the parts or just sit there with direct heat pounding an area for a prolonged period of time. The length of time you are safe comes mostly from experience.

At the moment the iron will only come on when I hold two buttons on the station and then when I have to turn it off I have to get up again and do the same. It’s really annoying. Is there a way of doing this on this station and how do you do it? Thanks so much I really appreciate the help. Thanks rich

Easy fix.Planned obsolescence. Make it so you need to take it apart to clean it. It breaks easily while you do it. Ps5 sony garbage. The fix is this. Grab a USB cable, cut off other end. On connector plug that came off board. Solder on 3 2" leads. The 2 outside wires, twist together. They go to the positive on the cable. The center is the negative. Solder it to the negative wire on usb cable. Insulating wires, test it in a 5 volt USB wall plug. If it works, close the bottom of ps5 the up and plug the USB cable in the back. This worked for mine. "F" sony, they did this on purpose.
