I choose to believe festival food is a constant throughout the universe. Am I the only one who felt a strange sense of nostalgia for an event they have long since forgotten when seeing Worf buy and share that food with his son? I wish I could remember it.

Quark's ability to make profits comes from his Moogi while Rom's inability to do so comes from their deceased father. Later under Rom's advice, she only declares 1/3 of the profits she had earned and surrenders them to Ferengi authority. Naturally she felt that even 1/4 is considered too much. But Rom is able to convince to her that it is better to sacrifice 1/3 than to lose everything.

0:13 This episode was released on October 3rd, *1999;* over a decade and a half before terms like "Social Justice Warrior" and "woke" were ever coined.

I never watched this episode as a kid - watching it now as a 42 yr old with tears streaming down my face. Such a bond between a father and son, so beautifully written. Star Trek at its finest

Those torpedoes aren’t just normal photons, they are full capacity larger photons, and those phasers aren’t even type 12, those are classic type 10’s. It just shows how powerful a small station like ds9 is

That's enough bickering! You're both acting like children! I will not stand by and let this family tear itself apart! Quark, you should be ashamed of yourself. I've seen you treat Cardassians with more respect than your own mother. And Moogie, if Quark can uncover your hidden investments, then the FCA will, too. And then all that profit will be lost. Think about that for a moment. Now, neither one of you is going to leave this room until you've settled things! Is that clear?! AND NO SHOUTING!!!

In the TNG ep the Masterpiece society were made up humans (Riker's point). In the TOS ep, they were aliens (Fabrini). So its not really an apples to applies comparison.

I always loved how, for Dukat, paying respect to someone he thinks deserves it is not beneath him. In this epiosde he calls Sisko "the least vulnerable human" he has met and in another (Sacrifice of Angels) "an intelligent, perceptive man."

But we weren't supposed to read into characters, one Cardassian, who largely did nothing but debate and argue whenever they were on the screen together. Right. When did the writers decide that arguing was flirting?

I love this scene because it perfectly captures one thing about art: You never know who and when will be touched by some art. Voyager's crew and most of us as watching thought it is ridiculous and over the top. But somewhere in the universe there was audience with whom it resonated.

How does one of the most seasoned warriors get stabbed she spent her whole life fighting and gets shivved in the back. Dax only has memories and some holographic training. O’Brien is a bad boy so if worf. Sisko not so much his bark is more fierce then his bite but somehow he lays out seasoned Klingon warrior after seasoned Klingon warriors in hand to hand combat something all Klingons are trained from birth to be proficient at. Plot armor if I’ve ever seen some. Heeeeee yaaaaaaaa

Didn't Leonard Nimoy say that he was embarrassed of this episode? So years later in Star Trek Voyager they did something just as dumb, they found a 1937 Ford Pickup floating in space. If that wasn't enough to switch the tv off it was worse when you think that the Truck was in the delta quad when Earth is in the Alpha quadrant. Really dumb writing. Of course, someone once said that Star Trek is actually a comedy.
