TBH I think people (me included) liking the show as much as we do, despite its shortcomings, is because traditionally video game adaptations for shows are just god-awful. So many of us kinda went into this shit with super low expectations, especially with a lesser known series like Twisted Metal. The trailers really didn't do it any favors either. I think maybe it's just Hollywood shit where people feel the need to meet a certain "quirky Marvel quip/comeback" quota. Some bits made me cringe, but given the culture of video game adaptations and modern shows and Hollywood in general, I enjoyed it more I feel because of how surprisingly good it was. Keyword "surprisingly". When you go into something expecting absolute dogshit and you get something that's actually pretty averagely alright, your view of it gets boosted artificially. Wow this cake that I expected to taste like literal feces is actually kinda smackin? THAT is the amazing part. I just watched and was content with it because I thought damn this shit could have been so, so much worse. I have my gripes with it myself (hate what they did with slam lol), but I was still satisfied with watching and binged each episode happily. Awesome review though man you put your thoughts together well and I respect how level-headed and fair you were with everything. Despite how unimpressed you were with many parts, you stuck it out until the end. I know you personally won't be watching, but I am excited for season two myself. They just finished shooting for it a few days ago.

FF8 was my Very First Final Fantasy Myself, even though I use to watch my Uncle play Final Fantasy 4, 6, & 7 in the past. But Damn did Final Fantasy 8 make me confuse as Hell! Like, the game had moments. But Good God… Everything in FF8 felt Half-baked! Yet when it comes to the personal Stories between Laguna and Squall, their Stories make far more sense, and sadly ignore a lot of the other cast members without making them factor into the story all that much. But Yeah, this Secret…and Deeply Vague Lore about Hyne had really Flew over my head, BECAUSE THERE WAS NO REASON FOR IT TO EXIST! It’s just in here and doesn’t really Tie into anything Deeper! This it had no Impact on me compared to me Playing FF9 or FF10! If a Final Fantasy 8 Remake were to happen! I would honestly take Less issue with the Retelling here than I do with Final Fantasy 7! Cause At the Very Least, they’d be adding in layers that would genuinely feel more connected!

I really don't understand the amount of hate twisted metal 3 gets. It has one of the best soundtracks of any twisted metal game, and while the game itself was a departure lore-wise and tone-wise, that's to be expected when you thrust an IP onto a brand new team that hasn't touched it before. If anything, I felt like 989 did an impressive job of creating fun and interesting levels and filling in until we could get Black. Twisted metal 4 was less great, but I specifically see people really harp on 3 and I just don't get it.

Thumper was my fave in 1 and 2, but starting with 2 they gave him a shit ending that didnt even make sense or line up with his character, then it just got worse and worse after that. Dont even get me started on "Angel". Thumper had some pretty interesting concept art for TM Black, but sadly didnt make it in. He never did get to rebound after his OP days in 1 and 2 :( Mortimer in head-on probably has the best, happiest ending of all characters lol
