I figured out that it was the powder I was using. I use Blackhorn 209, but factory CVA breach plugs don’t reliably ignite the powder. CVA now makes breach plugs for the Blackhorn powder but only for newer models. I might have to have my old breach plug machined so it works better with the Blackhorn powder.

I just pan fry lightly w ghee & garlic. So simple & you can really taste the mushroom, plus keeps the fiber. But we're all different

We use a mesh bag to carry the morels, which should help to spread the spores around.

I get it being much better cooking outdoors. I only eat wild trout and always smoked or made into fish cakes. But camping just so good pan fried.
@CatchNDinner23 күн бұрын
Yeah, there’s definitely something to cooking some freshly caught trout outdoors. Especially when the flesh is so orange and tasty. 😋

😅 🙏It would really be helpful if you could label the type of fish you’ve speared to help those with little ability to identify what types & variety of fish (strawberry grouper, mutton snapper, etc.) we’re watching being caught.

I’m going to Eleuthera Bahamas for a week mid July and really want to go spear fishing but don’t want to pay $780 per person for a guide. Any tips?
@CatchNDinner27 күн бұрын
Have you ever done any spearfishing before? You have to be 200 yards from shore, so I highly recommend renting a kayak. Usually satellite view on google maps will show you the reefs pretty good. Lobster season is closed until August, which is too bad since lobsters are usually pretty easy to find in the Bahamas. Good luck and have fun!

Being from Leominster Massachusetts, I can tell you when it comes to making New England Clam Chowder or Chow-dah. I start with pork belly, and never put corn in clam chowder, Corn Chowder is where corn goes. But its all about preferences.

Secure your fish after the shot and the sharks won’t be on your ass non stop
@CatchNDinner4 ай бұрын
I was diving for conch when the shark started harassing me and kept coming at me. I didn’t shoot any fish remotely close to that area. And when I did shoot fish I would put them in a cooler on the kayak as to not attract sharks.

I'm from Hawaii n visiting my girlfriends family in Colorado for couple weeks. Wondering where are some places to go Spearfishing?
@CatchNDinner4 ай бұрын
Colorado is pretty limited as far as spearfishing goes. Generally speaking gamefish can’t be targeted other than Pike in certain areas. Also Pueblo reservoir has special regulations for spearfishing. Since Hawaii has some great spearfishing, not sure that you would find it worth it to bring all your gear over.

if you shoot at a shark itll leave you alone?
@CatchNDinner4 ай бұрын
The shark I shot at in the video came at me a few times for no obvious reason. I was diving for conch and had not shot any fish. After I shot at it, it left and didn’t come back. In this case I didn’t even hit it. Every situation is different, but it usually works as a deterrent.

Since this a shore diving video I would rather not disclose the name of the island publicly as to not bring excessive pressure on the resources. Many popular KZbin videos have done that in the past. Hope you understand. Thanks!
