They took away the guns in the UK . So you cannot defend your self! And you think you should have to be licensed to have a knife are you kidding me !!!! I think you need to have bubble wrap all around you so you don’t fall down and hurt your self for that matter . It is all about control of the people by those that are afraid of their on shadow.

We are not allowed to carry a knife in the uk currently unless it's a Kinder egg surprise style knife. So yes, If having to have a licence allows me to carry something proper, then 100% I'd be up for that. Who wouldn't???

My Wegner pen knife with a non lockable 2 inch blade is illegal in the UK I know because the Police found mine in my bicycle tool kit during a stop and search and told me if they catch it on me again I could be liable for a 6 month prison sentence.

Read the government website regarding knife laws. The police man that stopped you told you a little porky pie. Read below taken from a police website. "I carry a small folding knife, am I breaking the law? No. You can carry a knife in public if it has a folding blade that is 3 inches (7.62cm) or less in length. However if any knife is used to threaten or intimidate it is considered an offensive weapon. Please note, lock knives are not classed as folding knives and are illegal to carry in public" Link below for the website. www.leics.police.uk/police-forces/leicestershire-police/areas/leicestershire-force-content/c/campaigns/2019/knife-crime/i-carry-a-knife-what-do-i-need-to-know/#:~:text=You%20can%20carry%20a%20knife,illegal%20to%20carry%20in%20public.

You think we should have to have a license to carry a knife? That is probably the dumbest hot take on knives i have ever heard. Knives are the second oldest tool known to mankind, after a rock. 70% of all stabbings in the UK are committed by young, BAME, males. The majority of all stabbings are drug and/or gang related The majority of all stabbings involve cheap kitchen knives In the majority of all stabbings, the perpetrator was already breaking the law by carrying with the intent to use the knife as a weapon, carrying a fixed blade knife without good reason, or a host of other laws. Using knives for self defence is ALREADY illegal. So how exactly does taking away a human right, criminalising unlicensed knife possession, and requiring people to register, be vetted, and get a license, in order to carry a knife into the woods, going to solve ANY of these problems? Why the hell should people have to register with the police and get a license, just to cut some wood in the forest? Why should I lose my liberty and end up on a database because of young urban "youth" gangs stabbing each other on inner city estates. There is already one universal truth about knife possession in the UK..... 1. It is a very specific demographic doing most of the stabbing in the UK 2. the 45-50 thousand people convicted of possession charges every year, are primarily a DIFFERENT demographic. Did you know that the cops get lots of possession convictions every year by stopping and searching random vehicles? Because places like Halfords sell car tool kits with non-folding blades in them, and this is cheap arrest-fodder for the police and Home Office statistics. Licensing?!? You must be mad mate. What if they say no? What if they arbitrarily decline YOUR license? Then you can never leave your home carrying anything with a blade, not even a swiss army knife. Sound like a good idea? Do you fancy going camping with just a spoon? Do you fancy going scuba diving and not being able to take a knife? Have a word with yourself. What you said is so incredibly totalitarian you should be ashamed fella.

Wow! I hope you never lose a loved one to a knife crime. When I make these videos, I have to be sensitive to those that have. The laws might not necessarily be ideal, but they have been put there for a reason. Currently, we are not allowed to carry proper knives without a very good reason. The police determine if that reason is good enough. This is where it falls down... It's open to debate on what is a good enough reason. So if having a licence means I can carry more than a pathetic folding non-locking under 3 inches, sorry excuse of a knife, then I'm all for applying for a licence. Especially if it takes it out of the hands of the police to decide your fate. 4 years in prison for possession isn't really worth the risk in my eyes. 😲
@TheWtfnonamez
@TheWtfnonamez Ай бұрын
@@UK_Outdoors. "The laws might not necessarily be ideal, but they have been put there for a reason" No mate, absolutely no. And even IF you introducing licensing, people will be going to jail for forgetting to renew their license, having it revoked in absentia, or carrying the "wrong type" of knife. Look at firearms licensing in the UK. They have ... 1. NOT reduced gun deaths or mass shootings 2. Resulted in vastly MORE convictions amongst people TRYING to own guns legally. When you "license" something like a knife or gun, you do not reduce criminal acts with those items, you increase the amount of people being convicted of breaking the NEW RULES associated with those items. That is a fundamental difference. I am a knife smith. I have to constantly monitor sentencing guidelines and the UK GOV website for the constant changes and proscriptions. I have literally thrown thousands of pounds worth of kit in the bin because of the constant subtle changes to UK law that do absolutely NOTHING to stop little scrotes from stabbing other little scrotes. All the laws are for show, or to appease the Police, and have ZERO effect on violent crime. I will stress that point again .... UK knife law is about continually giving the police more powers to arrest people they think are "going to commit a crime" without due process. Its also about politicians being able to be seen to do something, that costs nothing, and makes good headlines. It also has NO affect on murder or assault rates because one of the oldest truisms in social policy is "banning specific items does not reduce violent crime" This is doubly true since in the UK, most knife attacks are conducted with improvised weapons such as Pound Shop kitchens knives. Before you take my word for it, please do a bit of research, whilst considering these facts: The UK has very literally, the strictest knife laws and offensive weapons laws on the planet by FAR. They are so subjective, convoluted and labyrinthine, that even solicitors get them wrong. As our knife laws have become stricter, stabbings have gone UP not down. The London murder rate overtook New York City, despite guns being banned here, and the UK having the strictest knife laws on the planet. Most of the stabbings are conducted by young BAME men Most of the fifty thousand people convicted of knife possession crimes every year are older, white men. Sentencing guidelines are skewed to support the PRECISE demographic that is doing the stabbing. Recently a young BAME man was convicted of stabbing another random person in the head, and he got a non-custodial sentence because of his race and social circumstances. Meanwhile people with no prior violent convictions who are not of protected status risk prison time for first or second time POSSESSION. Sorry brother but more "laws" and more "licensing" is not going to solve a damn thing, and if you trust the notion of more legislation to "do the right thing" then you are high on Ballistol or paraffin. And if you want some examples of why more laws will not make your life safer ..... here it is ..... 1. The current sentence for buying or possessing precursors for manufacturing explosives in the UK: up to 2 years in prison. 2. The current sentence for owning a single chicken and not registering it with the Home Office: up to FIVE years in prison. You are advocating for the further diminishment of our knife rights, in a country which already has the strictest knife laws on planet earth. I dont want to give the police the right to background check me, read my private social media posts, check my bank account and have warrantless access to home, just because I want to take a knife to a bushcraft camp. Surely you must appreciate the insanity of that proposal? Because that is precisely what happened to firearms licenses. To apply and keep you license..... you have to hand over ALL your personal privacy rights, including your medical records. Not sure its fair to ask that for someone because they want to baton a bit of wood.

@@UK_Outdoors. The reason I carry a couple of knives and forks in my car is because I often go for fish and chips and sit in the car and eat them by the sea. Yes you can eat fish and chips with your fingers but why should we eat like a peasant. The days of eating out of newspaper have long since passed and so should the days are eating with your dirty fingers. I'm not that well these days so I no longer eat oysters ... but I used to. I'd often go to the fish monger in the market and ask him to open a couple of oysters for me so that I could eat them there and then on the spot. The request was nearly always declined on the basis that they didn't have an oyster knife. So one day I thought fuck you. I've been wearing stuff ahead of you. So I brought my own oyster knife from my kitchen with me. It is an extremely inoffensive tool. Absolutely no good for slicing and not much good for stabbing either. It was one of the very rounded types of oyster knife. The fish when I got poisoned out to me that I was risking it a bit that I carrying this knife with me. To be honest I hadn't thought about it. Anyway, The fish around I did open a couple of oysters for me. He struggled a bit ... but he didn't use my oyster knife at all: he used a screwdriver. 🙄

Back in the 50s and living in a semi-rural area We often carried sheath knives when out rambling or camping from the age of 8. In school most boys had pocket knives and the teacher would often ask to borrow one. The embarrassment if yours was not sharp. Some of us had air rifles and, with the landowners permission, would hunt grey squirrels for the 2/6d old money, paid by the Forestry commission for their tails in an attempt to protect the native red squirrels. Later, in the scouts, we had machetes, axes and the ubiquitous sheath knives as part of our equipment. Out in public nobody would even give a second glance at these tools. It was the same in the home, we were living with my grandmother at the time and my step-grandfather always had a double barrelled 12 bore shotgun behind a chair in the living room for vermin control. To my certain knowledge we never shot or stabbed anyone. What has gone wrong?
