Another option is the Hunka XL from Alpkit. Similar to the OEX but bigger

My British Army bivvy arrived today. Brand new with stuff sack for 30 quid. For xmas I bought the current issue sleep system, again all brand new. I don't mind the bulk and weight. I rarely go more than 7 or 8 miles out anyway since I'm in the middle of the countryside. Looking forward to a camp out soon.

The video title made me think its a comparison, it's not, it's a glancing look at the army Bivvy then 10 mins talking about the OEX one then he decides to show off all his other gear with no comparisons. After 17 mins it's a 20 min chat on a pair of gloves and all his other kit he has. Not a very helpful video, maybe the title should be Changed.

How was it when you used it? Did you get drenched?
@UK_Outdoors.2 жыл бұрын
Nah, pretty good. Bit of condensation but nothing major.

Great video pal I was going to get the oex bivvy but I'm going to look more into the British army one there is a store in town that sell army stuff so going to give it a chance thanks

Good choice. They should be in everyone's kit. If you are buying surplus, I would recommend asking them if you can get your head inside the bag and if you can see daylight ask for another. Sometimes they can have small nicks in.

Can you hide your head from rain in this? Is it’s waterproof in real life or only on the paper ?
@UK_Outdoors.3 жыл бұрын
Yes they are 100% waterproof from the rain. One side is longer that the other with a draw string cord and hoops round so when you pull the cord it acts like a hood.

I love my British army bivi bag, never had any condensation in it, I reckon the OEX will be like sleeping in a sauna!
@UK_Outdoors.4 жыл бұрын
I am not expecting it to be as good as the army one pal. If it gets me through a night I will be happy. I suppose you have to compromise on comfort if you are looking for weight savings. Guess I'll soon find out!

@@UK_Outdoors. True! I’m surprised it’s not breathable though, I remember spending the night in a sleeping bag and one of the old style bright orange plastic survival bags that were about in the 1980s, I was in a spooky wood with a lone stone cross on the ww1 trenches. I woke up drenched in condensation, my sleeping bag was soaked. Never again!🤣😂
