I guess I should have been more clear on the "eMuLaTiOn" comment because I assumed people with you know, common sense, would understand that I OBVIOUSLY meant PC emulation where is up-scales the resolution and smooths everything so the games look drastically different from when they first came out. "Ps3 Is EmUlAtIoN bUdDy!" is not the same thing. Thanks for coming to my TED talk, don't feed the trolls.

that is impressive on Terracon to see mouth animations. Even some ps2 games the mouths stayed still, like the characters were thinking what they were saying. But no I haven't heard of it before.

I'm the Translator finishing up what SamIAm originally worked on. eadmaster originally invited me to finish up the remaining lines. I've been Translating remaining Japanese lines to English to get this released and I have found some Translation errors made by SamIAm I am also fixing. My goal is to fix and finish remaining lines SamIAm did not finish for the release 😊 I also covered this game on my KZbin Channel too, I think that may be why I was invited lol

My new version was originally forked since I wanted to Translate Princess Crown in my own way but my Analytics on KZbin had shown Princess Crown wasn't a big hit at the time and went to other projects, but eadmaster found it and used it as a base and the rest is history.

Finally someone took over this project, CWX and SIA were probably not going to release it for atleast another 5 years. I get that even their latest personal patch has softlock issues, but if they released it to the public for assistants, it would likely be resolved way faster than 11+ years and counting. I expect we will find out if that's the case if eadmaster solves the softlock issues or other coders do. But the lack of updates or a playable sample tells me these guys were never going to release it to the public for free. It was probably gonna be attached to a pay wall of some sort, like you gotta buy a PolyMega or something. Lesson here is, rest on your laurels too long and the world will pass you by.
@enemyzerogaming
@enemyzerogaming Ай бұрын
I agree with most of that for sure, and I'm not even sure I even agree with CyberWarriorX and SamIAm being upset about it because like you said, it's literally been 11 years with no updates. Just let someone else who has the time and will to finish it, give them your code and be done with it. Let the community win!

Late to the party, but I do think Shining Wisdom and Mystaria are odd choices. Astal, fine, I might even agree with that, SoN and Burning Rangers are both certainly arguable (SoN, yeah, probably, Burning Rangers is one I haven't spent enough time with to actually opine). But I don't think either Shining Wisdom or Mystaria ever got that much popular reaction to be called overrated. Even fans of the Shining IP (and Shining Force was the very first game, and therefore franchise I personally became passionate about as a kid) don't think that Wisdom is one of the better titles. And while Mystaria got a certain amount of "first released RPG" cachet, even people who are fond of it usually concede that whatever it is, it's not GREAT (fun fact, I finally played it front to back a couple of years ago despite owning it for a lot longer than that, the rough graphics and slightly clunky mechanics put me off when I tried it when I was young, I ended up enjoying it a lot more than I expected). Still I would never call it overrated, I don't think it's good enough for people to start talking it up like that. I don't know what my top five would be off the top -- Astal is a smart pick. I like that game, but the gameplay gets a bit bland pretty fast, and people love Astal for it's art design. D, maybe, I would say less overrated and more just dated, but still. As an rpg fan I feel like I get less out of Dragon Force than most people seem to, although it's a great game. Guardian Heroes I have some quibbles with the mechanics. Number 5 though? I'm not sure... Maybe just for a personally painful choice I'll throw Shining the Holy Ark in; one of my favorites, a classic, easily in my top 10 even if it narrowly misses the top 5. Maybe

If I ever won a billion dollars, I would start a game studio to remake this game mixed with X-Men 1 and 2 from Genesis, all in one package with all the RPG and metroidvania upgrades that make sense. 2D X-Men Legends or Ultimate Alliance might be a better description. With a bajillion playable characters with all their different variants and costumes. I'd pay a full time team for a decade to polish and fill it out. No private island, no jet, yeah I'll have a nice car or two and a big house. But my psycho rich guy move = new old X-Men game. All the bells and whistles including the 2 screen 8 player arcade cabinets. And just get the license--you make a good game and have money for the license it won't be hard. Hey Disney want a couple million for doing nothing? Depending on how development goes, it'll morph into X-Men vs TMNT vs Simpsons. That's what my fortune would go to if I had a fortune.

I think I played this through 2 or 3 times back when I got my copy, circa the late 2000's, early 10's or so and had very warm feelings about it. Yes, it's a jrpg and a pretty generic one in terms of genre conventions, but the art, the atmosphere, the music. And yes, some of the translation is worth the occasional giggle. I played it again recently and thoroughly enjoyed it, but mostly for it's gameplay. On this revisit I found the story a bit lackluster from what I remembered. On the other hand, a straightforward happy ending relationship between Pike and Eka that lasts from midgame to, y'know, the happy ending part is almost unique. It's not great, but I am fond of it. Perhaps because I like JRPGS -- but I feel like anyone who enjoys the genre will enjoy this game. Mostly. The irritations are all also the baked in

Panzer leveraged what the Saturn is good at and 😮hid what it struggled with. I had all the systems back in the day and always rooted for the Saturn, but the ps1 was a better designed system for its time. The best on the Saturn in terms of 3d looked like first and early second Gen ps1 games. There were some amazing looking mixed sprite and 2d games on the Saturn, but during that time the public wanted 3d polygons. I loved my Saturn, but looking back it was.a failed system in America.

@@johnjay6370 it really hurt SEGA because to get the best you needed to program in Assembly and there was no real libraries and documentation. PS1 had a killer dev kit that was cheap and plugged right into a PC. Most importantly you could program in C. Devs hit the ground running with SONY

@@BubblegumCrash332 The PS1 hardware was CLEAN and from a engineering side beautiful! The Saturn was a franklin hardware design. The Saturn did come out with new C libraries in 1997, but by the time they came out, it was too late! By 1997 Sony had FF7 & metal gear solid, all the EA SPORTS GAMES and honestly the list just does not stop with the PS1. Nintendo had well MARIO 64 and Zelda! That is all Nintendo needed to secure 2nd place. Sega had honestly NOTHING that could hold a candle to what the PS1 and N64 had. If you say NIGHT INTO DREAMS is good, i will agree, but it is no Metal Gear, FF6, Mario 64 or Zelda game. Saturn had a 2.5d sonic game that was at most a solid C game. The 2d games on the Saturn were good, but the public did not care one bit! It takes YEARS to make a AAA game and by 1997 with its new performance c libraries, it was too late! Time does not wait or care!! I really wanted my saturn to be successful! But like a abusive partner you are always waiting for it to change, but once you escape that relationship you realize how messed up it was and better off just letting it DIE!

I know it's not popular to like Sonic R, but the game was beautiful for its time. It used the Saturn to the fullest with transparencies, reflections, impressive geometry and texture work, all at a rock steady frame rate, and did so much a PlayStation port would've needed major cutbacks to run as good as it did. Travellers Tales were one of the few who truly pushed the Saturn hardware, if anyone could've given us the true 3D Sonic game the Saturn needed, it's them.

It some respect, yes, it's better to have a translation than none, but the problem was Working Design at times took liberties to the extent that they changed the tone and context of a story to where it wasn't recognizable. We learned this through fan translation that came out later that did far better work. We would have missed out then, but we would have by now had a solid translation. Had I played this the time I did Lunar, I would have liked it, but it would take a bit for me to attempt it with better games in the backlog that need conquering.

In hindsight for sure, but at the time it was much harder to know that translations weren't close to the original. Playing it nowadays it definitely hasn't aged super well other then the graphics. But I also think that Albert Odyssey wouldn't be as fun if it was a boring, monotone, super serious script. The game play is a little boring and if the dialog was boring too, I might not have finished it originally!
