Thank you for this. I have not had a problem with laddering between knit stiches, but recently encountered it with the transition between purl stiches on a sock. So frustrating. No matter how tight I pulled in the transition between needles the laddering persisted. I will definitely try this technique next time!

This looks like such a great technique. I did read that traveling loop should not be used on small circumference knitting like socks and sleeves but in watching your technique it looks like it would work just fine. Am i missing something?
@ACTechniquesАй бұрын
I’ve no idea why anyone would say not to use it on small circumferences. That’s literally all I use it for! 🤣 Go for it. 👍🏻

Thanks for the tips! Is there a way to 'fix' this when you're already a bunch into your knitting for previous rows? And what about knitting k1, p1 and you need to start your new needle with a purl stitch?

Great video, thanks. I'm assuming that when you get to the "V" in the heart that you add a grey in the middle, and separate the red into 2 balls???? Otherwise, it's like 2 stranded knitting. Anyhow, I'm also knitting a heart motif on socks, so just trying to figure out how to do that "V". THANKS again.
@ACTechniques2 ай бұрын
Yes that’s correct. Add another ball of grey and you could strand the red behind. Or join another section of red. Either will work fine. 👍🏻

Love your video. Is there a way to take any chart and turn it into a slip mosaic knit pattern?
@ACTechniques3 ай бұрын
Pretty much! For fair isle charts, you can work one colour and slip the other colour stitches. And then work the second colour and slip the first colour stitches. It’s more time consuming than doing fair isle the normal way, but it does work. I hope that helps. 👍🏻

I'm making dishcloths with heavy cotton. Do you have a suggestion for a join for that. I think its much to heavy and would leave a very obviouse lump
@ACTechniques5 ай бұрын
I’m afraid I have no expertise with cotton as I always knit with wool. I would think you’d need to split the plies and weave the ends in, in multiple directions to avoid a thick lump.
@OnedayDesigns5 ай бұрын
Would you recommend this cast on for top down socks?
@ACTechniques5 ай бұрын
It depends a bit how it comes out for you. I tend to find it to be not stretchy enough of a top down sock, but if you’re a looser knitter it might be absolutely fine. I think you’d need to try it and see. I hope that helps. 👍🏻

Great tutorial, you answered many of my concerns except one. When I’m using this technique for a knitting hat do I make the duplicate stitches extra loose due to the stretching when they wear it? Let me explain I’m making Christmas knitting hats and scarfs sets and wanted to add snowflakes and other designs but I was worrying what will happen to the duplicate stitch when the hats stretch.. any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much🤗
@ACTechniques7 ай бұрын
Just try to match the tension of the main hat fabric. So after a few stitches stretch it as you expect the hat to be stretched in wear. Your stitches don’t have to be extra stretchy - just as stretchy as the main fabric. I hope that helps!

Thank you for the very useful tip. I'm knitting my first sick, and I used your technique for the cuff and leg with no problems. But, when I came to the gusset decreases and foot, needle 4 ended up with the number of stitches I knitted onto needle 3 instead of needle 1. Weird

I know this was 5 years ago but it helped me tonight. I’m a confident beginner and was following my pattern where the very last stitches before my border were yo then purl. I ended up a stitch short because I didn’t wrap it all the way like you showed for before a purl. Luckily it was at the end of my last row so it will be an easy fix. Thank you.
