This is an interesting take on physical media I haven't come across. I knew retro gaming had gotten bad, but wasn't aware more modern games were in a similar boat. Glad I'm not a collector.

Well obviously they want us all to make the transition to demat that's why. Sony is member of the « UN's Playing for the Planet Alliance » (P4P) and signed the European Union Games Console Voluntary Agreement (UE 2009/125/EC) (Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo all signed it) where basically they're all engaging to do more for the ecology, and Sony wrote about how demat make way less carbon print than physical on their official website. So yes, it's 100% on purpose, and mainly for the ecology (like that famous 100% electrical cars for 2030 or 2035 in europe lol). + No storage to pay, no print to pay, no transport to pay, and it's more ecological, they're ALL for it.

Finally finished up this video. My most cherished memory was getting Metal Gear Solid 3d on the 3ds. Aw man it was amazing. I got my 3ds for Christmas one year and the only game I wanted for it was Metal gear. I didn’t get it, but the next year my step dad took me and my brother to GameStop and I found my game and begged him to get me it. I got it… and man I love that game. It hold a special place in my heart. I know it’s not the most heart warming, but one of my earliest gaming memories was metal Gear solid 2 and 4. I would run into the guards in the second game, have them chase me into the lockers and wait for them to find me lol. And man… 4 is just crazy… that octocamo is insane.

I got rid of my entire collection. All I want is to play the games as authentic as I possible and the Mister FPGA project fits that criteria. It's cycle accurate, I can easily connect OG controllers to it (Using it's SNAC features), I get no input lag and I can easily connect it to my CRT. It can't do 6th gen or above though, but I don't really care because emulators like dolphin have come a long way. I need to save my money for more important things. Don't get me wrong, I love collecting this stuff but I can't do it anymore... I just can't.

Yeah I heard of those devices I think he's working on a PS1 type device. I'm not that text savvy so I don't know the ins and outs of it. If you just plug it to a TV or what. Does it actually have a disc slot so if you want to use physical games scan? I would really like analouge to come out with hardware that plays PS1 PS2 GameCube Dreamcast and original Xbox disc based games and I'll be all set when it comes to retro disc consoles. I don't have a CRT TV I only have a 4K TV with modern hookups and those cheap HDMI converters just don't do a good job. Don't really want to spend several hundred dollars on a retrotink. And the time it would take to find all the ROMs for the games to play and then get it all set up with emulation would just be time-consuming. I don't blame you for not wanting to have all the clutter It does take up a lot of space. But at the same time there's something about a physical copy of the game That makes it special. Thanks so much for watching.
@Dr_Diode
@Dr_Diode 5 күн бұрын
@@Phil1Up_Collects Yeah, having the physical copies of these games is special, but in my current situations the space for it is an issue. But mainly I just need the money lol. Understandable on setting up the roms, it can be a pain in the ass sometimes. The Mister FPGA supports PS1 and N64 now! Also it's not really run by one person, it basically a community driven project. You can't use physical games on it unfortunately and there is a technical reason why that is the case. It's the limitation of the DE-10 Nano (what the Mister uses) board itself. You can also output HDMI out of it and looks amazing! It can output up to 1080p (and I think 1440p) without any upscalers. It can do both analog and digital video output. One of the best things about this is the arcade stuff!

Sounds like your uncle took note of you not having a father figure and stepped in to ensure you had an incredible, positive male role model in your life. It's fantastic that you shared so many interests to lead to such epic memories together. This is a thoughtful tribute to him. Well done. As an aside, heh, summons in FF games were always so stellar and tons of fun to unleash, even on weaker monsters. lol I often wondered what it would've been like to experience CC fully removed from CT and any and all expectations that came with it. Dragoon is absolutely one that needs to return, as a remake, or better yet, a return to the world and full on franchise. Heh, funny enough, I bought Grandia on PS1 brand new...and to this day have never yet played it; a friend who borrowed it was the one who even opened it ages ago. ha ha Mark Hamill loves voice work--man, he's done a TON of games! @Lestibournes
@Lestibournes 12 күн бұрын
1:55 - Because inflation means that the same dollar amount is worth less, and because as games became bigger, with larger worlds, more complex systems and interactions, and more high-res graphics that aim at achieving perfect realism, the costs of producing games went up. 30 years ago a few friends could make AAA games in their garage on a shoestring budget. Now you need a studio with dozens of developers to achieve the present-day AAA. Meanwhile we still have hit indie games being made by 1 or two guys, and AA games being made by small teams. Those typically peak at $30 for the big releases, or about $10-$20 for smaller games. Some really small games can even go for about $5 despite offering better quality than AAA of 30 years ago. The main cost of physical copies is the cost of developing the game. A disk, even 20 years ago, was only a few cents. A jewel case is probably also only a few cents. The jacket also probably also a few cents. You could ship a box with hundreds of these for a few dollars, so again only a few cents each. The rest of the money is for recovering the sunken costs of development, and then once that's taken care of, for profits which then become part of the sunken costs of the next project, which will have to be even bigger to keep up with the state of the art and stay competitive in the AAA race to photorealism and game worlds bigger than the universe.

Preach it my friend. I'll never understand value enthusiasts in this community. To me they ruin it. Because games are meant to be played and enjoyed. It's entertainment as in it's supposed to entertain you. There's nothing entertaining about putting something on a shelf and hoarding it for years because you hope it can be worth a lot of money. This isn't the Mona Lisa in a mansion somewhere It's a dang game. The sooner value is taken out of this equation the sooner we can get back to enjoying games for what they were meant for. @@Phil1Up_Collects what did I sell the game for then? I dont buy games to scalp. I dont know why you assume all this when I didnt even give you a price tag and youre just being antagonistic. Like I said it was a joke. I didnt come here to "gloat" so let me explain my thoughts on this: Im glad VGP is selling physical games that were out of print but its mostly a band-aid to a certain extent. They brought back syberia 3(PS3), Painkiller(PS3), and demon gaze II(PS4) reprints and now theyre back to being scalper prices. They need to at least sell these copies for a good two years and that will stabilize the market. Ive been selling games for about 4 years now and there are problems sometimes on who the buyer is. Basically the huge problem is that if you sell items for less than theyre worth, a scalper, a video game store owner, or another person that wants to take advantage of the situation will buy the copy and just sell it themselves. I first started with RE3 collectors edition because gamestop wouldnt give me a refund for it so I sold it online for less than what it was going for. I later check in about two weeks if the person that bought it would use it for his own fun or not with checking if he had used the code it came with (RE3 Jill costume was selling for $25) or not and he didnt. He just resold it. This happened to me many times when I would sell stuff. And most of the time the person that really wants the game for their collection will not be able to get it. And no scalpers dont control the market. They would have no power if we didnt buy their overpriced stuff. But if you mean scalper as in people just buy games just to flip them, then thats another conversation and the three paragraphs above are irrelevant.

Funny that you use Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade as an example, since it's just been announced a reprint is coming thanks in part to VGP.

This video was done before that was ever announced. So I'm not sure if my video had a hand and helping it get done. Or if it was just great timing. Regardless, It's nice to see some companies listening to the community. Hopefully, it sets a precedent.

Re selling is my second job. Without it I would be paycheck to paycheck and struggling. I have nothing against scalpers. You mentioned Scorn deluxe for PS5. I had 6 copies and sold them all when I heard VGP was reprinting. It's a good legal way to make money.

You do you. But I'll keep fighting the good fight for video games and champing these reprints. If people are foolish enough to pay for a scalp copy that's on them. But I'm not going to make it easy for the scalpers or the resellers.
