I tried taking the control box off but the hex bolts were and odd size. Bigger than a 3 hex key, but smaller than a 3.5. They're in tight and Superwinch hasn't been any help. They ignore all messages. I'll have to drill mine out.

I don't remember which key I used, but I have a drawer full of odd sizes. They were tight, but I managed.

@@PetesPlaceGarage Yeah, I feel like I've got just about every metric and SAE size available and still struck out. Thanks

I have a superwinch 5000 I purchased in 2006. I use it in my car hauler for the drag race cars. It did come with the wireless remote and a cable with pistol grip control. Starting about two years ago the remote control, antenna or control unit is working intermittent. I just programed a second, new remote that came with it and I'm going to try to unload a car today. I guess Weston purchased Superwinch, and they said none of the components for the remotes are available? I have checked all connections and the winch works perfect with the cable control. Do you have any suggestions besides buying the Superwinch 2277 remote unit?

Unfortunately, not much is left from old Superwinch to New. The 2277R wireless remote is specific to the SX winch. I don't think it will work for your application. There may be a solution, but I'll need to research it. If I find one I'll let you know.

@@PetesPlaceGarage Thanks for the quick reply. I don't trust the inexpensive units on Amazon. I guess I could add more cable to the existing hand held unit so that I could operate the winch while I'm steering the cars onto the trailer ramp. I would only need about 10' more. Thanks, Bill

@@PetesPlaceGarage Hi Pete, I'm looking at the description for the Superwinch remote control kit 2277 ($117.00) .It says the kit works for all 12V electric Superwinch models. Is this kit a different model from the 2277R you referred to in your reply to me? Thanks, Bill
