Defensive player didn't beat him to the spot and was off balance making it look worse than it was.

As an Iowa State fan, I still - for the life of me - do not and probably never will understand what in the world happened to Nebraska on that day! I am still ecstatic to *this* day that we won - it's the only Cyclone road victory against Nebraska in my entire lifetime! But yes, I have no clue how Nebraska managed such a monumental collapse! Mistakes don't even begin to describe this. Nebraska committed *four* turnovers inside Iowa State's 5-yard line! One of Nebraska's fumbles occurred when the Nebraska player *wasn't even touched!* And one of those interceptions went *between the numbers* to an Iowa State defender when there was no Nebraska receiver *within ten yards* of him! I don't think there's ever been a collapse of this proportion in all of college football history. And by that I mean, I'm sure there have been worse performances (and I wouldn't even be surprised if my Cyclones - once a historically awful team that had us cheering when we won 3 games one season - put up some of those ourselves at some point in our history, especially given we still had to play powerhouses like Texas, Oklahoma, and then-national championship caliber teams like Kansas State, Colorado, and yes, even Nebraska every year while we were suffering those awful stretches). But the difference here is that it was a (at that time, still widely considered to be a) *blue blood* program in Nebraska (at home, with a nearly fully healthy roster) that was playing that awfully, and doing so against a non-Blue Blood team with more than half our starters out! Yes, I've seen Blue Blood programs have massive collapses with 6+ turnovers against other blue blood programs - but I can't think of a single other example where something like *this* has happened! Again, I still have no clue what happened on this day! But yes, history was truly made that day in the most bizarre way I've ever seen!

I have watched this (and the other versions) dozens of times and I STILL tear up. My first year at KState was 1989 and the first game I saw us win (in person) was the Texas State last second touchdown. Still my favorite game.

You would still have to beat us something like 25 more times in a row to catch us in the all time series...😂 k suck is still statistically one of the worst football programs in collegiate history! You can't run from it🎉

KU’s fight song sounds like it was stolen from a circus troupe and no accomplishment in basketball will ever erase the worldwide laughingstock their athletics program became in the highest revenue sport (only one that really matters).

The year is 2003, I look through the NCAA 03 Rosters and see a quarterback named Ell Roberson--he's fast. Then I see his running back, also fast. I proceed to run the speed option down my brothers face for the next 6 hours with little resistance. I am the Playstation 2 King. Thus, a love story is written.

Crazy to look back today and see Talib as a future Hall of Fame corner who played on one of the greatest defenses of all time as a #1 corner. That shows how good Jordi Nelson was (even though Nelson won't be in the Hall of Fame).

This never grows old. Nebby's prime reason to move to the B1G: it can't compete in the B12.

Love him or hate, he managed to turn around a perennial doormat of a team into a ranked one. And Kansas has been crappy ever since they “resigned” him.

It’s worth pointing out that while this was incredibly embarrassing for Nebraska, ISU only scored 9 points with 8 takeaways, and I think 2 of those was a safety. Not exactly a great game for either side. I should know as a lifelong Cyclone fan.

To be fair, that recovery at 1:39 was going all the way had the refs not incorrectly called the play dead

...I don't get that..."only nine points"...a win is a win, a loss is a loss...I happen to like defensive football...I remember ISU losing at Missouri 6-5 in 1972...still a loss for us...& do you think Missouri counted it as a win, hell yes they did...
@ccscomments757 Жыл бұрын
Cyclones #2 QB and #3 RB played this game. #1 ISU offense was sick with the flu and literally puking their guts out. So we're many who found the field. No one should ask why Paul Rhodes was "so proud" of his team.
