The power in a story spoken is in the a practiced reading voice with the proper emphasis. These canned AI voices are so stupid.

For the most part, I appreciate the narration of this post. I do, however, have a bone to pick with the word "agape." In this narration, it should be pronounced with a 'long a' in the second syllable - that means, slightly open. The pronunciation in the narration was made with a 'short a' in both syllables - and the meaning of that word means "highest form of love" or "charity." The pronunciation offered sort of changes the meaning, doesn't it?

Let's be realistic here about a wife's worth. She is an unpaid cook, cleaner, laundress, childminder, lover, storekeeper, pet carer, and sometimes gardener, . Add together what all of these roles would be paid outside the home and I think that women are worth more than they are given credit for. If he had had to pay for someone to do all of the jobs his wife did he would soon understand her value. Getting a dose of humility was no more than he deserved. Others mentioned the blonde lawyer and I, too noticed that anomaly. You can't have closure twice - the sister, who visited, and, later, the husband. Good story, apart from the tweaks needed.

don't forget home decorator, party caterer and event hostess, personal shopper, chauffer, accountant, financial planner, receptionist, personal assistant... I think an economist estimated the average housewife's work, if being paid reasonable wages, would be 90+k a year.

A man who can't defend his woman is worthless; not worth wasting time on. I wouldn't remain married to such a man, what's the point of validating yourself when you already have a useless husband? I would only show them my worth en route. By the time they realize who I really am I would already be out of their miserable lives.
