Why in the heck would you insert Steve talking over his performance of "Aja"????? I so wanted to hear him playing at that time instead of talking. You could've done the interview either before or after the music. Just my 2 cents.

Great band and great drumming by Mr Gadd. I would have liked to have seen Mark Fletcher and Bob Howard on this gig. Many great UK drummer’s in the country so why not get more of them together…….

Superb!! So, I've always ben a bit mystified with the role of the snare in Big Band music. Some guys seem to comp, as with Jazz and some just pick out the brass hits. Is there are right / wrong way? Thanks :)

Greatest Drummer? Was Carl Palmer, who holds every open stroke roll record on one head and across the kit of at least 6 drums there? No? Then this a nice group of percussionists but not the best by a long shot.

You are in the drivers seat and man as the Groove Drummer you are right in the pocket. Love how you shade and play soft behind the soloist. The mark of total musicianship and great drumming. For some reason this chart reminds me of something the late great Louie Bellson would have written. Besides your phenomenal drumming I am digging the hell out of that Bass Man?? who ever he is? that man and you are really really impressive. thanks

Great project, but please don't mix music and speaking. I would love to hear this wonderful music pure because it's worth it. Also like the interviews, but would prefer them separate.
@ianpalmerdrums3 жыл бұрын
For sure... Me too! The challenge was that this is not a commercial music release but I did however want to put something out. This was the compromise and of course promotion for the event. Thanks for messaging! I will hopefully do another one in the future... 🙏🏼

Very well done. What Yamaha kit is this?
@ianpalmerdrums3 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, Thank you so much. The set in this video was a Stage Custom. Not the most expensive set in their range, but a really nice set. This was recorded at Yamaha HQ in the UK and was the set that was there on the day. I was really impressed with the drums.
@tmaxximus3 жыл бұрын
Ian Palmer I recently got a Stage Custom. Added a 16” floor to the 20” kick set. Have been scratching head on how this kit is so inexpensive. Really really love the set. Had a Birch Custom Absolute from 90s but feel like the build quality on this set is as good. An EAD 10 is on the way. Been out of stock for long time. Thanks for reply! Best.

I enjoy the video much , I do thank the Host Drummer bringing on Steve Gadd , One thing I notice is that the Big Band , Everyone is Dress up professionally but many times the Drummers dress down. I know they may have their reasons . It just seem to me that one would always want to be seen in better light . They don't have to be in a suit that is , But Please, A T's shirt ? What happened to Glamor , Stardom and Professionalism ?

Steve has been my favourite drummer since I first saw him as a young 18 year old with the Style Council!! I've since been lucky enough to have a week long drumming "holiday!!" With him and Gregg Bissonette plus a few private lessons!! I learnt so many valuable lessons!!
