Her performance became famous and soon this type of entertainment was soon done by other women. After the conservative Japanese's government shut down the dancing , believing it was immoral and populated by prostitutes, young boys took over the entertainment where then the Japanese's government shut that down, for the same reasons. Eventually grown men took over all Kabuki performances and even today all Kabuki theater are comprised of men only. Kabuki is all about the poses ( the 'Mie') which, many +100 of years ago, would leave the viewers with indelible scenes imprinted in their minds from the play, much like remembering compelling and vivid artwork.
