Tabitha, Responses like yours are gratification and a blessing for us. It is often difficult to explain the Camino to people because they don’t understand. It makes me very happy to know that the meaning of walking the Way reached you and you understand. Buen Camino in life, and hoping that you can one day experience a part of the Camino. There is at least one wheel chair pilgrim in our Sacramento group who completed the last 100k with assistance from others. Wayne

Glad you enjoyed it! I enjoyed making the video record of our journey and sharing it with others. I used my iPhone 12 mini but changed the resolution from 1080 to 4K. It took up more space, but the difference is really noticeable. Believe it or not, I also edited the videos on my little iPhone using IMovie. I very happy how it turned out. Wayne

The thing that breaks my heart as I watch these adventures.....As people are walking and they come upon the cows being herded....they stop and smile and say hello to them and pet them.....having no thought that they are on their way to their death and terror. They are on their way to the slaughterhouse. Humans do not need to take the lives of these sentient beings in order to live a healthy life. I am 71 years old and have been a vegan for 23 years. I am on no medications and very healthy. Please understand....in the honor of the Camino.....Peace begins with our plate and Food Is Not Born. Blessed Be.

I am vegetarian and understand your feelings. Raising pigs for ham is an even bigger industry than beef in Spain. Having said this I think that the cows walking on the path were mostly dairy cows.

I was wondering what kind of camera you used to capture the video? Or the post processing software you used? Because your videos come out clearest compared to other Camino videos in KZbin on a 85” inch TV.
@where-in-the-world4 ай бұрын
I really like the clarity of the video as well and am happy that you recognized it. Before we started walking I watched a KZbin video about going into the photo/video setting on my iPhone 12 mini and changing the recording to 4k at 24 frames per second. Believe it or not that apparently is the same resolution and fps that movie theater films are shot at. 4k uses a lot of space on the phone, but with a 256gb phone I could easily record a couple of hours of video. I also brought along a mini disk and small adapter for the iPhone that I could move the videos to if the phone storage got too full. When we got home I edited the videos using iMovie again on the little iPhone 12 mini. Carrying all of the tools for making this video in my front pocket was amazing and weighed almost nothing.

Thank you so much Wayne! I'm creating videos for my high school class. A bunch of us --- 32 as of today --- along with spouses, partners and children will walk the Camino Portugues and Ingles starting at various locations on the routes, but plan on meeting at the Praza do Obradorio on the same afternoon. I'm walking the Portugues from Vigo ahead of the group for scouting the route --- this will be my second Camino. Most of the group are first-time hikers and I wanted to relieve the anxiety from the "unknown" for the first timers with videos from me. Somehow, people feel better watching videos from someone they know personally.

Sadly we gave up sailing last year and sold away our Cornish Pilot Cutter 30' moulded by Cornish Crabbers and fitted out in teak and Utile by Robertsons of Woodbrige in Suffolk. Launched in 1988, we saw her sail away to Denmanrk in August 2022 and we still miss her a lot after 34 years. We hope to follow you with interest on your future voyages.

Hi, we did a lot of research for places to stay on this second Camino Frances. We got recommendations from forums and places like Gronze. I emailed most places in January and February before we left in May. There were some places that we used Booking for, but for most I emailed. Send me an email at : [email protected] and I can send you a copy of the places we stayed.

nice trip. i miss santiago. i just wanted to say that santiago does not have anywhere near 12M people. Chile itself only has 19 or 20M. Santiago is closer to 6M witht he entire Metropolitan Region (like the province) being 7M. Perhaps you confused Buenos Aires' population (which has 3M to 15M--depending on how you slice it) with Santiago's.

Fabulous documentary, Wayne. I really felt the love you have for the Camino in this video. You and your wife really did seem to enter into the spirit of the journey where the travelling along the route is the destination itself. I've added you to my public playlist "Camino de Santiago: documentaries" where you join some illustrious company, including and not least the legendary Efren Gonzalez. Hopefully, you'll get some more engagement via the playlist.

Thanks for the kind words and including it with legendary company. Creating the video is my attempt to process the experience and share it with others. It brings back such positive memories even when things didn’t go as planned and injuries occurred. It is about the beauty of the journey.

I'm loving your deliberately slow approach.. I need to wise up a little for that yet ;) - but stranger things have happened. It's funny - even when you've walked it yourself, you find yourself going on KZbin, to watch the Camino as experienced through other's eyes. And it's often quite revelatory. If you feel like it, check mine out - or better yet, see you on the Camino!

I walked El Camino this year from October 10 to November 14. From Saint Jean Pied de Port to Santiago. Watching your video I reconoced many places where I stopped, where I eat, where I slept, but more where I walked. When I was walking and I met people who had made El Camino multiples times, I said to myself, never again, one Camino is enough. Some people told me I will remember this journey, it will be under my skin, and I will be back. I thinking now they were probably right.

Hello, yes on this trip we did book ahead. That removed all pressure to race ahead. Many of the places we stayed at were private albergues that offered private rooms for two that didn’t cost that much more than two bunk beds. We also researched accommodations with great reviews. Happy that you enjoyed the video.
@user-gv9tk8yg5r7 ай бұрын
Thank you for the response! My wife and I are planning on doing the Camino Frances this April through May and as a follow up, did you book a day in advance, through an app, call etc.? Appreciate your time!
@where-in-the-world7 ай бұрын
Hello, The first time we walked the Frances, I ended up calling ahead 2 or 3 days in advance taking what ever was available. The second time we booked everything ahead and researched places on line that we thought were exceptional places to stay. The only place that was a disappointment was in Uterga. All of the others were great. The downside was when I sprained my ankle. We then had to bus or take a taxi for a couple of days. However we had already previously walked the places we missed the second time around. Guess booking ahead just means how important walking every step is to you. Everybody walks there own Camino and you don’t want to be disappointed if things don’t turn out as you imagined.

Hi Beatriz, The Camino Portuguese is really beautiful. We went in May and really enjoyed all of the flowers. There were a couple of showers along the way, so a rain jacket or poncho is important. Also wearing shoes a half or full size larger helps avoid blisters as your feet swell with all of the walking on old Roman roads. I had a small tripod for my iPhone that I set up on the ground or a post. The Camino Portuguese was our first Camino. Last year we walked our second Camino Frances at ages 70 and 72. You have got this! Buen Camino 🥾🥾

Hi, We walked the Camino Portugues as our first Camino from Porto way back in 2018. Since we weren’t sure of how this walk would go we had a bag transported and only walked with a day pack. Since then we walked the Camino Frances from St Jean twice, once in 2019 and last year May June 2022. We carried our bags most days and have really enjoyed that route. Last year I was 72 and concentrated on enjoying and videoing each day. Check out our channel for some of my best video of these two walks.
