It's a tough bite, but the french has a great fishery. I did share some tips about fishing the points especially into the wind. Tight lines!

A few years ago a buddy and I were fishing Ontario in Rochester. My buddies first cast was the longest cast I've ever seen, except that he had just put new line on his reel and forgot to tie it off and he cast every foot of line off his reel.

During a cold winter in New York State several years ago, on Cayuga Lake, 37 miles long, a strange event took place that I will not forget. The lake was frozen across and people were walking out on it at the south end, myself included. Beautiful sunny cold day. A few people had walked way out till they were perhaps 2 miles out. I was on my way out there, looking at the ice and its ridges and so forth, when I saw in front of me round patch of open water about the size of a pick-up truck. Very strange. Beyond it as far as you could see was thick ice again. Easily 1500 feet from shore. The ice just thinned dramatically in one strange little spot and was open water. The depth was at least 60-80 feet. Creepy and scary.

Do you prefer J13's over spoons?
@ActuallyAndrewFishing11 күн бұрын
it depends, each have their place. Spoons are nice because you can cast further while J13s are good for trolling.

When I was a little kid, about 6 years old, I would go out with a commercial fisherman on the Mississipi, near Lacrosse, Wi. He would catch thousands of pounds of carp, catfish, bass, bluegills etc. He would throw back the game fish. We would take the fish to the market. He didn't make much money. He also caught huge snapping turtles. The first thing he would do is cut their heads off. Thr turtles would walk around in the boat headless for hours. I learned a lot about fishing on the Mississippi. I had flashbacks when you were fishing on that muddy river and caught the carp. Do they also have Sturgeon in that river?
@ActuallyAndrewFishing11 күн бұрын
Very cool! Yes I hear there are Sturgeon here but you are not allowed to fish for them. I've heard stories of people accidentally catching one.

We are going to call you, "Andrew the Perch Whisperer"! Does your wife ever have to grab you out of the hut? I could spend days in there watching the fish on the camera. Without it, I would get bored. I was wondering if you have another two or three poles rigged with other baits in case the fish turn their nose up to what you are initially offering them? What about night crawlers for those finicky ones? or even some minnows? I came across your channel as I am looking to buy an underwater drone or camera. I think you have the right set-up. Most of the drones seem to be junk and all you really need is something that sits stationary like the one you have. I am assuming you really like it? Could you share which one it was and where you bought it from? And the price. I am really enjoying your videos and adventures. Glad you don't fish at night because with your luck, Bo Bo the bear would be knocking on your door. LOL

Thanks for the kind words! I use the Aqua Vu HD7i. Its pricey at just over $1000 CDN, but it's the real deal. A bear would make great video! haha

I will be fishing in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. It is an awesome fishery. It's spring-fed, very deep, with a lot of ledges. I was most interested in scoping out the ledges with the camera. I am afraid I am already hooked watching you. I'll buy something soon and let you know. Thanks for the great videos Andrew. Great videos and message. Headed to Marion, NY April 5th weekend. I'm looking forward to exploring some creeks while I'm there. But I am leaning more towards tossing Cleos from shore on the lake. From the research I've done so far it seems that Maxwell Creek is likely the best option for me. What are your suggestions for spinning gear? The trout rods I am used to using in Eastern NY are 5 ft 6lb line. Is the 8 ft light rod a must have for those creeks? Looking forward to any advice you can offer before I hit the water. Best
