I would love if you did another video about more of these agonistic displays. This is super interesting and useful for me when I go snorkel or diving with sharks

I'm sorry but how hard is it to measure the length of a shark. It's 2024. You're telling me that the best most advanced method is someone looking at the length of a blurry scuba mask - which you can barely see in the video by the way - and yet the guess still ranges 100s of cm? And then say "ah its probs just the middle of that range". Mate. Just swim with a clear measuring stick and align it on the sharks back. Then take pictures of the shark with the measuring stick right up against it and you'll get an accurate answer and so much easier. Or figure out a laser measurement device so theres no annoying debate over shark length because it's not the 1930s

Aside from being a swimming aid, large fins increase a swimmer's apparent body size. Might their removal in this instance have reduced the shark's reluctance to make an investigatory bite on a large(r) and potentially more dangerous adversary?

Imagine havng to close a succesful business of 12/20 years just bc some worthless, factless tabloid rags decided to sensationalise a very rare, minor shark incident. How incredibly sad for the shark tour operators.

Has the fictitious whale started to decompose too badly? Perhaps her character realizes she needs to keep up her strength, especially since she’s losing blood, and is getting dehydrated, the crab could help with both? I am only playing devil’s advocate here haha, and defer wholeheartedly to the shark scientist’s opinion. I loved this film though, job well done for suspense factor. I do love cheesy b-films too lol so keep that in mind.

I know nothing about sharks so fact check me but based on the part of the shark we saw we can see the fin as well as the head wich seems to have a 90 degree angle on it wich could be a hammer head i mean hammer heads are found in schools often and most sharks are in groups but idk if hammer heads live in the bahamas so let me know
@diveexplore7 сағат бұрын
Dived with many sharks including so called dangerous sharks with no incidents. When you bait the water to attract sharks then get in the water your risking a negative interaction, Sharks are not to blame. Period!

I pass most of my diver carrer on this island, you have done a great review of what happen and why. Just two more points. frist the bullshark matting place was originally around mauritus where some diver found an underwater cave system whit high level of oxygen, the bullshark gathered there was really calm and were able to stay almost immobile, but after the diver when this place began to be know came the fisherman began to flock and the shark left. second poaching in ten year of diving there i never encounter a single reef shark species, the hunting spot where free so they came. Oh and there's the story of the slaughter house near st pierre (pierrefond) who dump their water directly in the sea...

Hi Kris. Watching clip about the 1916 shark attack in New Jersey. Forgive me if you already covered. Is this a true story? Sounds odd considering the location of the attack.

Yes absolutely a true story (it’s the basis for Jaws), I will be doing a video on it at some point!

So strange that you rarely have shark attacks. Is the water too cold making for a scarce amount of swimmers and snorklers?

I don't believe it was a shark is it was a shark they were the witnessed it everybody saw how many people were on that boat there was so many witnesses everybody knows he made a really bad mistake when he wanted to play around in the water instead of grabbing the safe life raft he took that dare seriously he was showing off very drunk alcohol played a huge part in this hyperthermia is no joke especially when you are drunk he stayed in that water too long and he drowned

Those Cornish tours are as bad as Ocean Ramsey's in my opinion. Using chum to attract sharks encourages unnatural behaviour and teaches them to associate people with food. The only time I believe that's acceptable is when it is for purely scientific purposes and not for tourism/profit reasons. The press is disgraceful in blowing up incidents like this out of proportion of course but so many people are fascinated by shark attacks, a point I'm sure which is not lost on you with so many of your episodes dedicated to this subject.

youmust be idiot to organize a trip for turists to swim or dive near sharks that previously you attracted with some bait, without protections. what it is so daring to hide the fact and omit the fact of mess it and the attack with it is ok nothing happened just amazing species. They are not endangered, thay are killers and always destroy everything around!!!

Men trying to explain menstruation... Women don´t just leak or drop blood wherever they go on their period. Panty liners which would expose little traces of blood into the liner are not suitable for swimming or diving. A woman on her period also doesn´t just leak like a broken vessel. There are tampons inserted into the vagina (internally). Combined with a wet suit there shouldn´t be anything traceable in terms of blood. There would be more saliva in the water if you go free diving to attract sharks. Possibly safety protocol might have been broken. Multiple divers in the water. People being too close to the shark or forming a circle around it sounds more likely. Since they can´t swim backwards their only way to escape is through the divers. An irritated or frightened shark that feels cornered might bite. Feeling the need to enhance safety protocols after the incident is quite telling as to why things might have happened. Swimming with open ocean sharks such as longimanus or blue sharks does not sound safe at all. Blue sharks are known to attack people. There also have been fatalities. They are not pets. There should be no swimming with sharks for tourists at all. That is just incidents waiting to happen. Also don´t profit off sharks or other animals. I don´t feel sorry at all for the two businesses that had to close. No business. No profit. Respect, appreciate and protect them.
