Does any cast net work for catching Carp?
@MerkWares
@MerkWares 14 күн бұрын
Well, those carp really tore up my net. I don't think it was made for fish this large. But in my opinion, cast nets work on anything too big to fit through the mesh and not so big that it shreds the net to pieces. I'm a total newb when it comes to cast nets. But I love the idea of them so much I'm going to try and tie my own from some super strong braided fishing line.

What weight test line do you use for your handline?
@MerkWares
@MerkWares 20 күн бұрын
Generally I use 10lb mono. I've found that anything over 15lb gets a little bulky. On my larger model I like 20lb test. I prefer monofilament for handline fishing. In my tests braided lines don't cast well from a handline. Braid seems to sink into its own windings and get stuck. I also think that braided line presents a significant laceration risk when used for hand line fishing.

I purchased the ABS with rubber over mold handle not a bad little handline reel I first put on some 6 lb test it casted ok had a couple casting ridges took line off used 400 grit sandpaper smoothed it out put 6 lb on it wow what a caster all most a far as one of my spinning reels still can't do as far as the baitcasters but it's set up for bluegill fishing anytime I find a creek, drainage ditch, or pond if I'm on a exercise walk . Nice little rig for $10 bucks yes I recommend it fully I fish almost every day with rod & reel.
