I have a deleted 2015 ecodiesel with less than 60k and today I found metal in my oil catch can. Am I too late? Or is it just going to continue it wasn't a lot and it was settled at the bottom of the can
@hobbyguy7922 күн бұрын
Hey, just watched your most recent update video but comments are turned off. What tuning file did you end up going with and where did you source it from? I have a GDE tune and am paranoid ill end up in the same situation as you one day and I'm looking for good options.
@aaron___601427 күн бұрын
Do you change the fuel filter every 10k, do you have a preferred fuel station? Did you design your own tune after the dealer whipped yours? Do you have a preferred anti-gel additive?

If you ever see your low oil pressure light come on during a start up or multiple start ups, replace the tone ring that is behind the flex plate.
@nigerbear26423 ай бұрын
I have a 2015 with 197k. Had to change out the clogged intake manifold when I first got it. Left me stranded with the tone ring behind the flex plate. Fuel pump just went out last week. Have the GDI tune and gets 23-25 in hilly area with maxed payload and bed topper.

Hey if anyone can recommend how and where to get the important upgrades for this truck. I’m buying one shortly and I’m reading a lot on it. The biggest thing is a tune. How can I get one and what else is a healthy add on for this engines health and longevity?
@jeffreybrown4751Ай бұрын
Study up on the EGR tube and possible EGR delete. Otherwise you will have an intake full of soot and tar like substance.

Love the no nonsense review. Deleted my 2016 recently. Completely different truck. Power, torque, and MPG are unreal now. Ill def own another one. I Run T6 5w-40 (thinking about switching to schaeffers), Docs Diesel filters (oil and fuel), Hot shots EDT and extreme every 6 months. Bought it at 108k and am at about 160k now. Have towed a 32' RV a handful of times (7k lbs or so), it does fine.

Hey I have a 2016 eco diesel as well what products did you use to do the delete? Also what tune?
@matthewboone8406Ай бұрын
I've heard you either have to delete it asap or never. Have you had any issues with deleting after use?
@melrobinson69198 күн бұрын
Must be nice not being in Commiefornia and being subject to bi-annual smog checks. Deleting here is out of the question. Hoping by keeping up on maintenance my '16 will last many years. Just had the HPFP recall done. It has less than 57k on it and I only use it to tow my 6,000 lb boat, so less than 2,000 miles per year usage.
@matthewboone84067 күн бұрын
@melrobinson6919 really? They do bi annual checks? Why have you not moved yet? Not just cuz of that commiefornia is a shit hole my friend 😭

I’m loosing coolant also. I didn’t run it for two days and still had drips on the ground. Towards back of the motor. Any help would be great

When I had all my brakes and rotors replced the shop removed the abs line into the hub and greesed my hub bearing assembly through that hole. I read about a guy that did that and has over 300,000 miles on original hubs.
@seancota54549 ай бұрын
Most likely it’s the coolant line to the turbo, it’s located under the intake. This is a common fail point in the system. The upgraded part solves this issues however it’s about a 5-6 hour job, really not that difficult if you have some mechanical knowledge.

Gde does some amazing “engineering” but man are they the most pussy company when all the epa stuff started happening. Not selling you a thermostat? Lmao. Out of all the tuning companies no one shriveled up their little shrimpy as tiny or quickly as gde. I’m at 198k with EOC tuning and I have some drops of coolant under it everyday so probably pulling the pump soon. Already had to do the turbo line under the manifold that was fun

Your coolant is pushing out your reservoir waste hose when you’re driving. If you tow you will notice a lot more coolant loss. Put the hose in a bottle and you will see the coolant collect there. I have over 300,000 kms on my truck now. I tow a lot and have replaced/repair many things. Mixed feelings about ecodiesel

Do you have to drain the coolant before replacing the thermostat?
@Dunno51311 ай бұрын
Turbo coolant line and bypass tube under thermostat likely culprits. Don’t pressure test it… .5 gal every 10k will turn into .5 gallon per week. Not a bad job to do the intake and replace the 2.5” piece of 3/8 line. ( don’t replace the whole coolant line).

I had to replace a glow plug at 160,000 mi on mine. That's it. I tow heavy a bit, tows great.

I am my service tech manual says the thermostat opens up at 208 degrees f maybe you need to check your temperature sensor it might be doing false readings

The stat starts to open at 208 but is not fully open until 220.

220 degrees are u serious?? I had a code PO128 and said it was Cooling thermostat(coolant temp below thermostat regulating temp) the fix was an engine coolant thermostat or engine coolant temp sensor. I replaced both and went to drive it and engine coolant temp got to 218 and my fan isn’t coming on… I been checking everything!! Your video said it don’t open until 220??? Are u serious!! I’m thinking the truck is gunna burn down but u said factory settings are 220 Fahrenheit, so I am not getting the cooling fan to come on because I’m not getting it over to 220 degrees
@fullertonautone Жыл бұрын
It starts to open at 200 and doesn’t open fully until 220 the fan works the same way

Yes, 10000 miles oil change is too much for this engine, knowing that is having main bearings issues from the factory. I do it every 5000. Good luck!
