We need to see how this plays out to know what the future Intentions are but I think we can all agree the people of El Salvador are very indebted to him so far. With Bitcoin I think he’s just ahead of time. In 2018 I adopted Bitcoin as a payment method in London for my business. yet Still here with everyone having the technology available to transact its use for buying goods is zero so that’s not the reason El Salvadorians don’t use it. It more about the exchange rate volatility. In a country where every $ counts it’s too risky to use it yet. But Bukele's theory is right. He’s just too soon in my opinion. I spent 2 months in Nicaragua in the winter of 2024. I had no problems bringing my phone and laptop across the border, ( in or out ) once by bus once by plane. I had no problems taking photos wherever and whenever I wanted.

I spent a week in San Salvador ( The capitol of El Salvador ) and found no evidence of Bitcoin being used by the people living there. Nor did I see ( Other than at the airport ) stores that had signs that they would accept bitcoin. In talking to taxi drivers especially, they told me they liked president Bukele, and some said they would like to start saving some money to hold as bitcoin, but there just wasn't enough cash for them to do that. For currency, I would say that the dollar still is king there, or at least was at the time, ( in my experience ) by over 95%. As far as lightning, Cash app, muun, and Strike and many other hot wallets use lightning.
