@@carlover4239 22 countries have legalized and regulated bribery calling it "lobbying", it's particularly common on former UK colonies.

In a world where its all about, "who you know". We shouldn't expect any people in power to improve the system, they're not there based on merit, they're just a face to represent the capital.

I'm convinced that what we often perceive as representative democracy might actually be a carefully crafted facade. These systems, while designed to appear and function as true representative democracies, seem to fall short. They are more inclined towards safeguarding the interests of the wealthy and powerful, particularly within political parties. This approach subtly undermines the genuine representation of the populace's needs and voices, raising questions about the authenticity of our democratic processes.
@tke313110 ай бұрын
have you even read the federalist papers?
@gavinshickle181410 ай бұрын
Well the first problem is believing this is a democracy. This is a republic that uses a democratic process to choose leaders. The second problem is the concerted effort to concentrate power in the federal government. There are many issues that can, and should, be handled within the individual states. But too many people are not willing to accept that everyone is not forced into the same mold. They can't tolerate that Georgia might be different from California. Even though this would provide people a greater chance to live somewhere that is more in line with their particular views. But this is something that is never discussed.

Pelosi was just asked in a press conference about stock trading for members of congress should be illegal. Of course she answered it's a free market and they should be allowed to participate. Pelosi is the best stock trader in the world btw. Coincidently she trades a lot of stocks of companies which benefited from some government regulation or subsidies.

Aunt Nan is an oligarch, and 90% of *all* the congress critters do this. Lori Bo also out performed the S&P last year. Both parties are stacked with corporate goons, and there are a dozen other corporate goons ready to take their place if We the People ever fall for the term limit trap. There are very few people in government, local, state, or federal, who are not looking out for themselves far more than they are the Common Good. I challenge anyone to name one person who fits that description, and has an R after their name

Limiting the money in politics is impossible. The better solution is to limit the power of politicians so that there is less power for money to purchase.

Do votes in America depend on how much money each voter gives politicians, then? The poor can't vote?
@brianvieira15710 ай бұрын
Actually yes if you are homeless for example you aren’t voting because you need a address to vote also even if you aren’t poor and just working class elected officials only talk to lobbyists me not who they represent a lot of politicians don’t even hold meetings with who the represent anymore to busy getting campaign “donations”
@amielvasco350310 ай бұрын
@@brianvieira157 That is not what I mean. I mean are citizens' votes just like shareholder votes where the power of each vote depends on how much money were given to the government or politicians? Coz that is not democracy to me when the vote of poor people are distinguished and different from the vote of wealthy people in elections.

Myself and some others have created a start up, with it being a tech company within the gym and fitness/physiotherapy field, there is a pitching competition coming up associated with our university under the IEEE, which we are hoping to use as a springboard to take off with our products idea, however as we are in the early stages of product development, one of the concerns for our pitchdeck is asking how much we would want, realistically in our current stage we arent exactly looking for investors yet per say, as our product can be grown with very minimal costs until wider expansion is required, however this slide is a key requirement for this particular requirement, so my question to anyone who could help (would really appreciate any feedback) would be to ask how could determine how much is an acceptable amount to ask for the sake our pitch deck, assuming that our start up is within the Triple F / pre seed phase.

Only people who don't understand anything can be unhappy about businesses funding politics :D politics is precisely what supports and helps businesses. Once that's not the case, the country can be considered gone.. because the people who produce and create stuff are no longer supported by the government.
