@simplyinteriors is there a way that the white line between the laminate and edge bending can be same colour as laminate? This while line spoils the look..
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors 6 ай бұрын
You can reduce the effect by using color core laminates. These are much more expensive though and dont have as many color options also.

Sir all your explanation are very much helpful.....So 6x7=42 & the Loft 6x2=12 Sq.ft ...well please suggest how much Ply or Particle Board & Formica pasting for inside the wardrobe and Color Formica for Wardrobe Shutter material do we required to make for 6'x7' and 2' loft
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors 8 ай бұрын
Hello Miland, we use software to determine that and it depends a lot on the design. Number of drawers, number of ledges, what design is coming on the shutters etc. Its not possible to give that quantity like this.

What widths do the PVC edge banding come. There are edges created by wider flat surfaces of laminated cabinet work with sharp edges and corners. Is there a routing power tool that may be used to shave off the sharp edges off? Or another means of work already done.
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors 11 ай бұрын
Hi, it comes in a maximum width of 25mm for some designs but mostly for 18mm. If you have a thicker edge, then you dont have an option but to go for laminate which is sharp. Another options are veneers, PU or wooden bidding which can work if the laminate is wooden grain. These are more expensive options.

When should we start consultation for interior designing if the house is under construction
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors 11 ай бұрын
Hi Vijay, if its an independent house / villa, then loop in the designer once the walls are up so that they can also help you with electrical fittings etc. If its a flat then usually builders will not allow such changes in which case, keep a month for smaller budgets (less than 8-10 lakhs) and 2 months for larger budgets for design.

Do you see Laminate for Kitchen is more resistant to scratches, easy to maintain as compared to Acrylic and PVC Sheets?
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors 11 ай бұрын
No such thing. Genuine acrylic will always be more scratch resistant compared to laminates. There is no difference between laminates for kitchen and for other areas.

Hi sir.. I am thinking about doing PU Matt paint on kitchen for my flat. Colours will be from beige category. It will be a carpentry kitchen with good quality ply material and accessories and chimney.my question is ,is PU paint is good for indian kitchen ? Will it give the same look after 5 to 6 years ?
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors Жыл бұрын
Hello. Short answer is No. Reasons: 1. If you are going to apply PU, dont use plywood for the surface. Use a good quality HDF for the surface where PU will be applied. Best will be HDHMR from Action Tesa. 2. Prefer glossy PU. Oil stains become very clearly visible on matte surface and hence not recommended for kitchens. 3. Which brand PU are you planning? Go for ICA (not ICI) since that is much more superior compared to Asian Paints which is normally used.

No. Most carpenters will be unable to or unwilling to use PVC edge banding. Plus the finish requires practice if its done by hand. Use only experienced carpenters for this work.

@simplyinteriors

Its most likely because of using laminates on the edges. Only for the edges, get the laminates removed and stick PVC edge banding like we have shown in this video. It might cost a bit but will give you a much better place.

Depends on if its part of a bigger project or just a single cabinet but for decent quality material, it should be between 1200 and 1600 per sft.

Hi, I had purchased a centre table from local furniture shop. It has very sharp edge. Is it possible to do something now for the sharp edge?
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors Жыл бұрын
We really dont know the reason for the edges being sharp but you can possibly use a high number sand paper (140-150) and sand the corners. It will leave a mark but if the edges are too sharp, they could be rounded up just a bit.

Hi, nice walkthrough. One question, did you use edge banding on site, if yes, what kind of glue did your team use? My carpenter is scared to use edge banding as he is not sure of durability in long run.
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors Жыл бұрын
Hi Raghav, carpenters usually have a tendency to either use local brands or mix water in fevicol. Dont do that. Use fevicol that they work with for sticking laminates and then use abro tape to let it dry for at least 3-4 days. Should work if carpenter's quality is ok. Edge banding is extra cost and hassle for them that is why they give all reasons for not using it.

If I am making the furniture st my site with carpenter, then can the rounded off thing be done? How?
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors Жыл бұрын
Carpenters usually do it by hand. Same neatness does'nt come unless they are trained and have worked for a while with 2mm PVC edge banding. There is an edge bander which comes to be used by hand as well. Again, the carpenter needs to be trained to use it else you will have lot of damaged shutters and material. This is the reason, most of the local carpenters will convince customers that laminates are better for edges or will use 0.8mm edge banding for shutters also.
@raghavendram6489
@raghavendram6489 Жыл бұрын
Hey, how do you avoid bending in shutters. Infact even in your video I can see the unevenness in the gap between after and the support piece. The top left is slightly inside and the middle portion is outside and I could feel it is due to bending. Usually carpenters claim that the bending cannot be avoided. And no brand gives guarantee against bending. Is it so? Is it the reason I'm seeing bending in your video as well?
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors Жыл бұрын
Hi Raghavendra. In this video, its not due to bending but because the final alignment was not done by carpenters when the video was taken. Coming to the point of bending, we have tried 25mm plywood, HDHMR, 25mm blockboards, thicker laminates both inside and outside, EBCO anti bending fitting etc etc but a slight bending of sliding shutters is difficult to avoid. But it is kept within a margin by keeping good quality plywood and ensuring proper practices are followed at the time of execution.

Hello. We have questions about factory finish vs onsite work. Our primary concern is quality of work and finishing, which we feel is better in factory made ply wood based furnitures but some contractors have opposing views. Would like to consult you for better understanding. Please share your email id/pH no for further discussion.
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Shila, they both have pros and cons. If you are fortunate to have a good on-site contractor then go ahead with that but if you are not aware or are only looking for simple laminate or sheet acrylic finishes then go for factory finish. PU, liquid acrylic, veneer come out much better if given an onsite treatment but make sure your contractor knows his stuff. We do work in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune. In case you are in any of these places then you can drop in your details (phone number and city) here and our team will connect.

The limit of 6 weeks is okay, but can be brought down with efficient planning and skilled workmanship. Also , comparing the quality we get from on site work , 6 weeks is acceptable.
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors 2 жыл бұрын
It needs around 2 days in factory and another 4-5 days for installation. But neither the factory nor the installation team is sitting waiting for the project hence everything goes into a queue. Also, once a client finalizes his finishes like laminates, they need to be ordered. Not all of them are readily available and can take time to arrive. On site work is largely dependent on the quality of labor while factory work depends on quality of machines.
@jeevanjose6860

I am also an interior furnishing contractor kerala. We have been in business for past 22 years. till now we have completed around 480+ projects. We are specialists in commercial and bank interiors. We always prefer on site work. So the customer can see the quality in front of their eyes. Also, factory products are not long lasting. We have works which are older than 20 years with not even a loose screw. From business perspective modular is 3 times profitable . Especially for house on site is always better , cause you don't low quality products for the money you pay.
@simplyinteriors
@simplyinteriors 2 жыл бұрын
We respect your experience and agree that there are advantages and disadvantages of doing both. In the last 12 years, we have not had to go and tighten screws as well and we undertake both modular and on-site work. It is wrong to say that factory work is not long lasting unless it is made using cheap machines (available in abundance) and cheap material (since you are from Kerala, I am sure you know about the quality of plywood)... But we agree that compared to work done on-site by highly skilled labor, factory work has definite disadvantages. Possibly the only advantage in that case is that it takes lesser time and lesser cost.
