I put in a new lid lock switch (two actually) and the lid still won't lock, therefore no spin. Need to know what part on the board signals the switch to lock??

How do you know if the transmission is failing? What happens is that I changed the actuator and the capacitor on my washing machine and it continues to fail, it thunders like a plane taking off and stops and gets stuck in spin mode.

Engineered Obelesence by GE. Shame on GE for making JUNK transmissions. Im on second GE washer. Hope it last longer than first one. Thank you for video, im gonna try to fix my broken one. Great video.

Doesn't actually show how to get the drum away from the casing. Only shows unbolting some bolts the skips right to tightening. Not so helpful

This does nothing for somebody that's never worked on one. When there's no talking explaining what you're even doing. If you would like some tips on getting your video seen by more people and. My lid lock was just poorly designed by the engineers. Washer would not spin because one post connection point is a floating connection point and not a soldered connection point.. engineers did a lousy job on this GE locking mechanism. if you can imagine a floating post on inside of locket bouncing around during spin cycles wash cycles it's designed to fail. or last one year once it loosens up absolutely horrible design.

How do you know if it's the transmission that is broken? My GE is just like this one and the agitator doesn't work. How can I tell if I need a new agitator or transmission?

If you want to bypass the whole thing, is it possible by just twisting all three wires together that fit in this part?

In normal operation when you hit the start button the lid lock will lock, unlock then lock again in under 10 seconds. This is the main board trying to sense if the lid lock is following the logic command. If you bypass it the board will send non stop command to the lid lock and eventually lock it and will work somehow but will fry the Main PCB(which cost 8 times than the lid lock) in less than a year

Great video, I had already replaced this switch once and was looking for a way to bypass or fix this. This is a really shitty design by GE. These should be replaced free. Someone should file a class action suite against GE because they know this part will fail and are making thousands of $ by selling the same bad switch design which will eventually fail again. I replace mine the first time and fixed the 2nd one but imagine those that have to call a repair man which will raise the totla cost of the repair.

Truly correct, a bad design be GE. There appears to be numerous variations of this GE switch, looking at all the various model numbers on Amazon, and the varrying prices range between 19 dollars to over 70 dollars. The replacement switch for the GE I worked on today costs 65.00 from Amazon. Not sure what the third wire on the switch is for? Great if it works, just cleaning the contacts. I should have tried contact cleaner spray. I didn't see the guy in this video test the third wire connection, and at the end, he seems to have missed testing the middle connection. IN any case, he may have solved the problem by cleaning the contacts.

I have this exact model but the problem with mine is that once my laundry load is complete it stays locked and I have to do the most to unlock it I’m wondering if there’s an easy way to fix that?

I fixed my washer!!!! I didn't have the meter. I just took it apart, sanded it down, put back together and ta-da! Kisses to the maker of this video. Love a free fix. :)

A drill with a clutch works for every bolt but the nut for the basket. You could have had this done in 15 minuets.
