Yours has more definition at the base of skull, slightly chubbier cheeks and slightly thicker cords on back of head also the proportions are right to the drawing itself but like as if it was rotated slightly as a whole compared to the original but honestly if wasn’t asked to pick anything out this is still a solid drawing

thank you so much for this video!! i didnt know about this technique/mindset before and im pumped to use it in my next works :D one tip id love to add (not exactly connected to the method, just something a professor told me) for anyone who is struggling with a piece, turn it to face away from you so you cant look at it, walk away and do literally anything that will distract you from your drawing, and only come back to it once you feel like youve forgotten what the details of it look like, which usually takes some 5-15 minutes. you will literally see it in a completely new light lol

There are plenty of tutorials here on KZbin but some that I used to watch regularly before art school were on the page: The drawing database I wish u the best & hope that feeling goes away once u start drawing 🫶🏾

where have you been all my life girl? This is an important aspect of fine art and visual art drawing technique . Academically we were trained to use the Barque mentality during drawing ,but at the course of event , most of us seem to drop it, because sometimes measuring accuracy , finding points, and flat points. "Flat is the point. It is the value that we always pursue. We focus on a balance of lines, faces, and proportions rather than decorative splendor" etc steal the joy in painting for most painters . Thank you for sharing. 👍

Thanks for making this video 💕I have a question: The problem is, I dont know how to start, ive done some research and people say to study art fundamentals etc but how would i structure it and stay disciplined? Hi! Thank u for watching I completely understand. The first thing I’d say which is the hardest part is showing up everyday. Even if u don’t know what you’re doing you opening ur sketchbook and drawing like 1 line is the main thing. When it comes to practicing I’d recommend a channel called the drawing database here on YT they have videos abt most things to learn artistically. The thing is I didn’t follow a strict schedule but my main goal everyday was showing up for the task so basically always sitting down at my desk with my sketchbook open. For at least 10-15 minutes. And usually when I started I would keep going for more than those 10-15mins. But putting myself in that position & always having that small goal for that day made it more simple. I can make a video going more into depth abt a specific routine that worked for me. I hope this reply helps for now but I’m wishing u the best & can kinda demonstrate an example during the winter break ❤️🫶🏾🫶🏾

The brow ridge on your baby head is flattened compared to the reference, making it look less young. The ear in the reference is tilted slightly and the values are darker towards the front connection with the head. I think those were the biggest differences. Anything else was so minor it's negligible. It's really accurate!

Hey Kéren, I know perfectly what you are talking about. I learned almost perfectly to "bargue" at my first try when I was 6 years old, back then one lady told me to draw a cartoon fisherman from my school book and I remember she calling my mom cus my gift result That baby head it's like 95% identical. I had to focus to found a mistake, but on my perspective, saying that you made some mistakes in that baby head draw makes me remember my old demanding perfectionist mind, but seriously that's enoughly perfect, if you want every microscopic part to be the same just take a photo, you are enough, you made it, and you have mastered the skill actually. I know how rough "bargue" is, I know how much joy you feel when you get the work done, it's a hardcore route, but that is how old masters were and I love them too you have the same skill as me and it is impressive... I have only drawn like -25 artworks in my life and I am too lazy but I know I can do everything thanks to that method, you make me to don't feel lonely, like Dylan... I hope you know him from Instagram. Hearing what you said and looking what you have done, you can do whatever you want, this skill does not make you think about the thing that you are drawing, you just follow the path of the figure, I know you know what I am saying I have'nt read the description so I'd look if you have Instagram, I am following you instantly You reached the top, there does not exist competitiveness Greetinga from Colombia 😊

If its not fun I'd not consider it a very good method tbh. If I wasn't allowed to divulge from the source material I'd probably just leave, it just sounds super tedious and honestly not too different from just using photo references. Where I'm at we just work with a live model, or still lives, everybody can use whatever medium they like, go as accurate, or stylized as they want and the teacher gives critique based on what the person needs to hear to make better drawings. Sure the fast back and forth and stuff is still valid, but why suffer to learn that?
@keren.socadjo
@keren.socadjo 5 күн бұрын
Understandable! I rlly want to draw like the old masters & this was one way they were taught, so learning this was more abt reaching that goal than focusing on the fun aspect for me. U can make it fun in different ways though, i don’t think i would’ve been able to get where i am if I didn’t enjoy the process. I enjoy that “suffering” cause it’s challenging & helps me improve, like I thought it was rlly nice seeing shapes instead of focusing on what I was drawing bc I essentially got a new perspective on my own drawing that I hadn’t thought of before.
@j3nki541
@j3nki541 5 күн бұрын
@@keren.socadjo Fair enough, some things work for some people that don't work for others. Personally I can't learn well like that and I don't strive to paint in the academic style, because not only would I neither enjoy the learning, the painting, nor the result very much, because accuracy is just not something I value (tho I respect it a lot when people can nail it and have it mastered). We also got one guy in class who really wants to learn the academic style of painting. The teachers always try to push him to loosen up, but he doesn't want to, so he has been pretty disappointed about classes.
