If you can walk on your roof, replacing a damage shingle is the simplest project you could have around the house. Why are we empowering all these crooked roofing contractors.
@HB-CL-TX
@HB-CL-TX 19 күн бұрын
If you’re doing that, why aren’t you just replacing those two or three shingle tiles?

You make it look so easy. The shingles on our roof have been there (16) years and are tighter than a maximum security cell. How do you avoid scuffing asphalt shingles on a hot day? And what are you wearing on your shoes?

Greetings from Germany. Technically good repair instructions. What I particularly like is the note that the shingles still have to be glued with bitumen adhesive. (Even if the roof is completely re-roofed). Many craftsmen don't do that and then people are surprised that the roof shows the first signs of damage after just 10-20 years .

I know nothing about roofing but I know water. Is it normal practice to use straight lines of caulk under the shingle? Looks like a water damming risk.
@MaMa-qh4dy
@MaMa-qh4dy Ай бұрын
Should use dabs of geocell caulk rather than straight lines. That way, any water that may get under shingle, can exit at bottom.

Nice trowel but it’s too big and I know you slip and damage tabs or your fingers if you don’t use gloves. If you get to a roof and see loose shingles that are new I hope you recommend a warranty claim and replacement along with that temporary fix cause ya maybe you find all the loose ones but there will eventually be more so if you like fleecing on repairs than say mum but if you appreciate your community and clients you will tell the truth
@chadthurston2923
@chadthurston2923 Ай бұрын
If you are able to cleanly break the seal of a full tab architectural shingle without damaging it or the others around it and remove and replace it cleanly with new sealant than that automatically makes you a pro. However it also means the home has crappy shingles on it.

Great..thanks. Why remove nails and loosen tabs three shingles up...I'm confused about that...would think just loosen tabs above the shingle being removed then remove the nails for the damaged shingle....please correct me if wrong.
