Hello my name is Derek Wilkins and I just recently found out that I suffer from overactive bladder and incontinence and I am looking for advice on how to wear diapers discreetly in public without people knowing also what are some good brands and I also have trouble changing in public

Back in the early 1980's I was watching a talk show that had Joe DiMaggio on and he was talking about his life with Marylin Monroe, he had mentioned that she was a chronic bedwetter and at times had leaky bladder in the day. During the time she was alive no one talked about personal things like that so it was never mentioned. But after the 1970's things were starting to be talked about like this.

Thank you for this video Olivia! It is very rare. Like you said, so few people are willing to talk about OAB - and this means that many people are not getting the help that they need. Urinary incontinence, has been dubbed "one of the last medical taboos" by the World Health Organization. On average, people with OAB wait at least 3 years before talking with their doctor about it. It is time that it comes out of the closet. There is no shame in OAB.

The only thing that has ever truly helped me is when I was on Wegovy. And now with the shortage, I haven't been able to be on it anymore. I literally have not ever had anything but that help me. It's a (figurative) demon that haunts me through my dealing with trauma journey. Edit: I never went to sleepovers as a kid, partially over bedwetting.

Hi Would you ever consider being in a relationship with another bedwetter?

Don't think I would be satisfied with a 50% reduction of symptoms, I'd be asking my doctor about using botox inconjuction with the OAB device, I am not keen on taking medications, because of side effects.

To recharge Axionics one can either wear a belt, or use an adhesive disc, to recharge it, if one does not wish to use the belt method. At least that is my understanding of what I read. I intend having Axionics rechargable method, which means I need to be referred to a different provider by my Urologist, because she is only a provider for Intrastim. I also wish to have both procedures done under Gen. Anesthetic, because I nolonger, trust a doctor to do it under local anesthesia, after reading horror stories of patients saying the doctor injected local anesthetic, and came back to the patient when the local anesthetic had worn off, and not just one patient is saying that. Also, after reseaching, I tend to believe Axonics remote is simpler to use, and patients say it provides results that are more satisfactory than Intrastim, according to an Axionics study of patients who had both.
@sjordan7085 Жыл бұрын
Well, if I had a 100% improvement in my condition, I would be over the moon with joy! Imagine what a difference in quality of life that would be. I am going with Axonics. The only issue I am now dealing with is getting a referral to a Urologist who uses Axonics for her patients. Where patients rated the care they received from her, some are much less than encouraging, even though she is an Assistant Professor. I am going to meet her in person to decide for myself. I wish there was a comparison chart of the two technologies Intrastim vs. Axonics to make comparison easier. One's relationship with one's Urologist is also important to me. I am in a quandry, because my wonderful Oncologist ref. me to a Urologist who only prescribes Intrastim, which means I will need to change to a different provider. Thank you for your videos, I am finding this one particularly helpful. And, it is good to know that Axonics staff were so quick to reach out to you. I also wish it was easier to educate oneself about the choices one is about to make. Making information in writing available would make things easier to read and re-read, and share with family and/or friends. I talked to Ben at Axionics and found him patient in listening to my questions, and genuine in his approach to answering them. I hope their patient service continues , on a pleasant footing, once the device is implanted. I would also like to have the names of more than just one doctor who installs Axonics in my area, so that I could have the opportunity to decide which one I felt the most comfortable with. I am also wondering about the amount of pain that is involved at the appointment when the leads are inserted under local anesthetic. Sorry to say, experience has taught me that with the exclusion of my wonderful Oncologist, the medical profession is not always as transparent as they could be. At least one KZbinr mentioned that in her case local anesthetic did not work during the procedure, and the pain she felt was pretty horrendous. One could say, " Everyone is different," true, but I am not fond of surprises, I want to know what to expect, so that I can prepare myself.

why do they do a two week or several day trial period if you may not get results for 6 months or more? I just dont get that! How do you know to take it out during the trial or wait six months with a perm implant hoping it will work?
@starsINSPACE11 ай бұрын
As far as I know, you should get results within a week or two or using the trial device. After that the implanted device should work for years, but in some people it stops working randomly because the nerves just stop responding to the treatment.
@heatherfrye5375Ай бұрын
During the trial only the leads are placed in the body. The device is securely taped to your back. They do the trial to see if there are any improvements at all. If there is zero improvement, there is no need to implant the device and then have to remove it (the leads are very easily removed, kind of like getting stitches taken out). If there is some improvement, they then do a second procedure to implant the device.

I struggl with bedwetting since im like 12-13, and i personally never was accused of beeing a diaper lover or smth like that, when i told someone abt bedwetting. I just notice that people are really discusted of bedwetting/diapers, like they look at me and sometimes go like: "Wait. So you pee yourself?" With a look of discust and then i need to explain, that its not on purpose and if i could stop, i would. But i feel like they dont see it as a medical issue and more like something you do "cuz ur too lazy to get up"... and thats really not fair.

I was bedwetting constantly, almost every night before I started using my BiPap a week ago and I haven't wet the bed every night since then! Words cannot describe how happy I am with the results because it was demoralizing. Back story, I started bed wetting in April 2021 and I had no clue what was causing it until just recently when they diagnosed me with obstructive sleep apnea. I'm glad I found out why and finding out the BiPap not only works for making me sleep longer and not waking up constantly, but it completely stopped my bedwetting. By the way, I also wear the full face mask. :)

I have 2 children that bed wetting as well as daytime issues. We are going on a 4 day retreat in JULY. Thanks to your video, I know where the coin laundry machine is. The reminder to pack bags and Frebreeze. I don't know what to use as a mattress pad??? At home we have water resistant mattresses. The "chux" pad and diaper doesn't always work.

I agree with you, I am 33 m and been suffering bed-wetting every single night for the past 30 years, it is none stop, went to many doctors and nothing ever worked over two weeks, the longest I went without wetting my bed is six month, due to anti-depressants I started taking due to my ocd, anxiety and depression, I have never spent a night outside my home, I have never had a relationship because I just can't have a wife drowning in my urine every morning, it is mortifying, it should be a disability, and it should not be stigmatized, I honestly have no solution for it but forced dehydration and even that doesn't work all the time ...

I’m so sorry, I am 31 and have had issues with this on and off, I’m coming to the conclusion that it has a lot to do with stress, I think it’s good to include as many things in your life to reduce stress, let me know if it helps or if you want to know any of the things I use.
@karimmansour78132 жыл бұрын
@@mellenhead273 thank you for your support, and I hope God heals you of this ailment, I certainly believe it is stress and unsolved psychological issues, I have been going to therapy for 5 month now, its not that my problem stopped, but it is better, on and off now, and I realize patterns of worry and depression much better now, I am able to deal with my ocd and may get off the meds soon, honestly cognitive behavioral therapy and talk therapy really helped me. I would love to know what things you use, thank you so much and God bless you.
