How do you lock a latch like that from intruders
@jofalltrades1816Ай бұрын
The back side of the latch has holes that line up for a padlock. Not ideal but it makes it secure and more difficult to break into.

THIS VID IS A LIFESAVER! A side-note: Removing the faucet is unnecessary if you have a reasonably portable compressor or long enough line. I disconnected the water lines from the valves, and popped the faucet head off and blasted the line out without removing the faucet.

How did you find it with vinyl plank on it? Any clicking? What instructions after putting it down and taping it? Is this suitable for a 1978 house in cold winters? (Edmonton, Alberta)
@jofalltrades18162 ай бұрын
Vinyl plank was ok as long as it has a cork/foam/cloth backing on it and the slab is reasonably flat. After it's down and the seams are taped, the flooring can go right over top. If you are installing carpet then I'd recommend fastening down any edges that are floating. I did this in one room that was carpeted. Tapcons and washers (2 per panel edge) along the outside wall where the product was floating.

A vapor barrier doesn’t create a thermal break. A thermal break would be exterior insulation or a double stud wall where the studs don’t touch each other. It’s actually never a good idea to put something like plastic on the wall over the insulation. You should be using something vapor open so the wall can dry out when moisture makes its way into the wall around your outlets, your window…. I use Siga Majrex but there are a number of good options on the market to use other than plastic.

Beautiful GN. I wanted to ask a question... do you have a catalytic converter on your GN or a test pipe? Not sure if the high zinc in the motor oil will destroy the catalytic converter. Thanks

I installed this latch two days ago. Please note the packaging does NOT include installation directions. The "handle" part of the latch can be installed 2 different ways. Be sure it's in the direction you want before you tighten the lag screws.

We had a water main break on my block one night and ever since they fixed it, my hot water to my kitchen sink and bathroom sink stopped coming out. Could it be that all that dirt from fixing the main break outside clogged up everyone water lines to their homes? Either way, i really dont want to take out my whole faucet and all the lines, i think i will just take out the hot water line and clean it?
@jofalltrades18166 ай бұрын
It doesn't take much to plug the line and after the water is turned back on the water has always looked dirty to me for a bit. You could disconnect the hot line at both sinks and run it into a bucket. The flow would tell you if it is something in the line or debris in the taps. This is straightforward if you have shut off valves at each sink. Otherwise a 2 person job
@MilkyWayGalaxyy6 ай бұрын
@jofalltrades1816 I took the aerator off my kitchen sink and it was significantly clogged. No wonder I had such a weak flow. I don't understand why I only had cold water getting through though. But as soon as I cleaned it, the water pressure and hot water was back in full force like the first day I installed that faucet!! It will be more difficult to get to the aerator in my bathroom bc I have one of those delta waterfall faucets and not much space to work with since it is 3 inches from the wall. So now I know what the problem is. Everytime they shut off and turn on the water, it creates a "water hammer" and a bunch of dirt and debris gets in the lines. Unfortunately they turn off the water a lot on my block. Thanks for the reply!
@jofalltrades18166 ай бұрын
@@MilkyWayGalaxyy it is a pain for sure. Hopefully they make some upgrades to those mains so they can leave the water on for longer periods of time. I've taken aerators off in new builds and had chunks of lumber come out of the shower spout. Good practice when changing or installing anything new! Cheers
