She Reminds me of my former doctor, he tried to deny my request for a blood test for liver enzymes. Eventually, he submitted to my request, and as it turned out, I was very ill and needed a liver biopsy, and it was in the early stages of fibrosis of the liver due to a medication.

this is coming from a psych doctor. she should no these people are often neurologically and mentally incompetent to make right choices and decisions. but because she is private practice she can choose who she wants to help and who she doesn't. these people will just falter and fall in a crises and end up in a hospital or ICU.
@MortynFriends19 күн бұрын
So these people come to you for help and if they dont pay you in a timely manner youll dismiss them? Sounds traumatizing for the patient. Ive been ghosted by my therapist, nothing I can do there.

What are your thoughts on SSRI induced Apathy, especially in the ADHD brain?
@tedmichАй бұрын
when do the suicidal impulses roll in? Those are side effects or negative primary effects?
@JeromeMcklanskyАй бұрын
Immediately for me. But the thing is it didn’t make me want to commit suicide. I was already extremely depressed and pretty close to feeling that way anyways. But the medication took away all of my inhibitions and gave me the energy to actually try. That’s the problem you become so separate from reality that you don’t realize the consequences and you just become so overwhelmed.
@tedmichАй бұрын
@@JeromeMcklansky humans aren't simple. Their mental health treatments shouldn't be strictly pharmacological, although that is cheapest, sadly. Its not any one thing that stresses you so it usually take a multitude of things to improve your feelings. Good luck.

I wish I had thousands of dollars to spend on my Private practice because I would be financially free by now.
@thepsychiatrymentorАй бұрын
You can totally start a private practice without spending thousands of dollars! I actually recommend starting a minimum viable practice to reduce initial costs. I explain this concept in more detail in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIrcaJholsd9d7Msi=sc5N9QYfuVQ1szGm

Psychiatrists should be for the wealthy in my opinion, they pay well and have more intresting issues then the general populous. Poor people issues are a dime a dozen, boring to listen to and their issues are usually down to their own failures in life. I admire modern doctors and psychatrists for being honest and open in their work being business and not charity. People want good care, they need to pay for it simple as. If you cant, then go and earn money to get it.

We absolutely get it, we aren't paying attention to the time unless it's uncomfortable. I was never offended by my therapist stopping the session. We have a long road ahead of us and many sessions to go it's ok we will get there.

I want to be cash pay only but I also understand we need to advocate for insurance to pay more and provide more. I have gotten away with billing for many things under crisis, that's usually my only way to help clients who need to be seen more often. It's not a crisis, its just quality care. I know it takes time away from us to be on hold, or even to lobby for changes. Cherry picking does need to be dealt with, and us cash only peeps have the resources and time to do so technically. I try to do what I can

We don't have anyone from New Zealand currently in the program, but we do have someone from Australia. While the program content is designed around private practices in the US, the curriculum can be applied in different countries too.

Thanks for this informative video and resources! I enjoyed your candid answers and appreciate you taking the time out to inform those of us who may be second guessing ourselves or need that additional motivation To get started! I was wondering if you would recommend a new grad of a pmhnp program with over 10 years psych nursing experience start a private practice! Like you mentioned in your video I hate the idea of having to see 20 pts a day being rushed to fill a quota and being expected to prescribe controlled substances to pts who you don’t necessarily see as fit to continue prescribing to. Would you encourage still starting a practice straight out of school or just toughing it out working for someone and slowly progress into starting a clinical practice?

Thank you, could you describe what kind of side jobs wouldn’t require to do admin work?
@thepsychiatrymentor2 ай бұрын
I usually recommend working at county or federally contracted clinics where you would work with Medicare/Medicaid patients. I would suggest staying away from jobs that credential you with your NPI 1.

I was also taught to not share any experience/truth. I carried this for the majority of my 19 year career and through the years I have learned 99% of people are comforted in a shared experience. As professionals we have the capability to navigate patient encounters as to not shut the patient out or discredit them. Thank you for this!
