Holy crap, I saw the thumbnail for this and thought it was my car! Lol. I have a white non XL 62 that even has a dent in about the same spot by the dr side taillight. Pulled it from besides a corn field in central Minnesota a couple of years ago. Working on finishing a 445 stroker for it and have a tremec TKX to go behind that

I'm with you on drum brakes, they really are NOT that hard to figure out and get right! But that's funny how you keep running into messed up ones though! Such super unique styling on that '60. Its hard to take in at first, but I think it just grows on you. That 6cyl needs to goooo. Definitely a good place to park an FE. The wheels actually don't look all that bad. I was skeptical at first but they really aren't all bad. Nicely done!

Very cool, man. Those wheels fit the period of the car correctly. I know what the remedy on that engine issue could be. It needs a 289 V-8. Congratulations on getting married! John Henry's '65 is very nice. My dad's got a '65 half ton short bed Ranger. Years ago, my brother replaced the blown up 352 for an '86 Mustang G.T. roller 302. It has a Tremec five speed manual too. I'm still working on my '64.5 Mustang.

Thank you and thanks for watching! I thought about V8 swapping but due to the rarity of the car we’re going to try and run the 6. It seems to be running pretty good now, I even drove it to work this morning.

The 352 engine sucked at the dragway. My best friend owned a 1959 Ford with a 352 engine and the best he could do in the quater mile was 17 seconds an less than 80 mph. This was in the mid 1960s.

Just a note about braking drums loose. A trick I’ve been doing for fifty years. On the backside of the backing plate just cut the heads off of the brake shoe retaining pins Small cutoff wheel or shape chisel the brake springs will help pull the shoes in and they will collapse inside the drum and helps in removing the brake drum
@FullSizeFordАй бұрын
We’ve definitely had to do that in the past. Thanks for sharing and watching!

Just a note on braking a drum loose, I cut the heads off the brake shoe retaining pins on the back side of the backing plate with a small cutoff wheel or sharp cole chisel and the brake shoes will then pull themselves in and collapse inside the drum and then the drum is alot easier to remove. Give a try next time, saves from damaging the drum and beating yourself to death. Something I’ve been doing for 50 years 😊
