Great video, thank you. In 2020 the Axiom II was your ultimate bass rod. What is your ultimate bass rod now in 2024??
@LostAngler3 ай бұрын
@ADKMuskyFoolonFly63 glad you asked. For me the new TFO Solution has blown me away. I'm doing a video for that rod soon and I'm going to do a variety of flies and test how well and how accurately it places those flies. I've been using it for a few months and it's out performing my $1k rods!
@ADKMuskyFoolonFly633 ай бұрын
I have some nice $1000 rods too but personally won’t pay $1000 for a rod. Bought many great rods used for much less. TFO hits the sweet spot of great quality for good price. Looking forward to your review. Does it have as much backbone as Axiom II? Does it cast the variety of bass streamers as well as axiom II??
@LostAngler3 ай бұрын
@ADKMuskyFoolonFly63 it does! But what I really like about it is that there are no dead spots in the cast. So it handles the line as well at 20ft as it does at 40 ft, and it does at 60ft. But this rod has no trouble dumping all of the line off the reel. It's a Dynamite stick that sets the bar for any rod made over seas.
@ADKMuskyFoolonFly633 ай бұрын
@@LostAngler thank you so much for all your feedback. One other question-have you been able to compare it to the Blitz?? and how do they compare if you did?
@LostAngler3 ай бұрын
@ADKMuskyFoolonFly63 I am a huge fan of the Blitz and I used it all last fall for Redfish. What I'll say is that the solution is a nicer rod, not taking anything away from the Blitz. But that makes since as it does cost more. The Solution bends deeper into the blank and that to me makes it a better streamer rod. The Blitz is very very fast has more of a distance game mindset. That's a great thing in Saltwater where I'm trying to be as accurate as possible at a further distance while sight fishing. So different environments in mind in the making. But I wouldn't hesitate to use the Solution in the Saltwater or for Redfish and if you're fishing in stained water where you're having to present a bigger fly closer to the boat, you might prefer the solution. I don't think you'll be disappointed in either one. There's not a big price jump in the rods so I suggest casting both.

Maybe a dumb question here, but what do you mean by a boat having a pad?
@LostAngler4 ай бұрын
@TheDbrewer31 basically it's a flat spot on the bottom of the hull to lift as much of the hull out of the water as possible

Nice redneck tie. As is often stated, innovators don't invent patterns, they invent "platforms" from which many variations can arise. Mr. Edmonds deserves the credit, of course, because he developed the platform. We must always be aware that, as young men, we "discover" things that other generations have known for years. Such is the case with using clear nail polish for head cement. In many circles, this is called "hitting it with some Sally". (referring to Sally Hansen nail polish, probably the most widely used clear polish around) Go out and explore the World, young man, just remember it has already been discovered, the wheel has been re-invented several times, to where it is now round, lightening is electricity, and fire can be our friend.

Let's say you are coming from using kayaks majority of your boating career. Which is easier? The tiller? The center console? or stick steer? I love this set up especially when using the boat solo. Seems so simply and easy to use. Plus I assume lighter vs the center console setup.
@eduffy49376 ай бұрын
I prefer a small boat to fish like a big boat so I guess my preference goes to stick steering. It's there while you're running, but as soon as you kill the engine there's nothing to walk around or move out of the way. And stick steering can be positioned so the driver is up front. It helps with hole shot and getting up on plane fast vs bury the ass end deeper in the water. Forward seating is ALWAYS better for running solo. Always.
