Harley - a clothing company that still makes a few bikes; for now

I enjoy just about every form of motorcycle. I just love bikes, always have. I do like Harley styling and appreciate their relatively crude function, gives them character. I just don't see why I need to dress up like a pirate to own one. You know, conform completely to that non-conformist image. I've seen guys adopt a whole new identity just because they bought a Harley. Pathetic. It actually puts me off the brand.

1. Many only wave to other Harley riders 2. Rev their Harleys non stop. 3. " You're just jealous." 4. " You can't afford one." 5. Drinking and riding 6. " If it ain't a Harley, it's shit." These are a few reasons. For me it's the fact they're not even close to Japanese reliability. They're not nearly as fast as my Japanese bikes, they are so overpriced new it's a joke. The German CEO is a complete woke clown who is going to cost Harley millions when they really can't afford to lose any money. Their merch is what's keeping Harley afloat. Harley lost touch with their fans years ago. They wete the quintessential blue collar, working mans dream bike. Unfortunately Harley kept inflating their prices and it made the younger generations go elsewhere.

Harleys are shit. I have one. Harley builds crap and the consumers pay to fix Harleys mistakes. It's not just letting the customers get stuck with the research and development, Harley doesn't learn. 100+ years of building bikes and they still can't get it right. I won't buy another. Also, Harley riders are the worst riders I have ever seen. Plus, they are slow. I laugh how they claim 100 horse power is high power, and can't build a clutch or compensator that doesn't wreck the engine and transmission.

_"HarleyDavidson is poor quality, still drafting on its past 1950s reputation, overpriced machines for business executives with too much money and too little motorcycle sense. Everyone knows this. People have more fun trading parts and hunting for vintage barn finds than actually riding them. If you want to look "cool and loud" riding to the bar once a week buy a HD. the only thing keeping this company going is the Cult of Dumb still willing to pay premium for mediocrity. thems the facts."_ (btw this is a quote told to me by a HD Eng turned HD dealer owner. unfortunately after i bought a HD from him. never again).

3:00 That was totally unnecessary, someone's been watching too much sons of anarchy lol I wear my leather vest when I'm riding, very rarely will I wear it when I have to take my truck but those few instances are because I'm attending an event my AmVets post is putting on but needed my truck to take extra things to help out with it. I'm also a part of Midgard Viking Brotherhood, we have a denim vest but the organization has nothing to do with motorcycles, there are different patches to earn so we all decided on denim vests because its Florida and we will be doing charity events in the sun. denim sleeveless made more sense than anything else to put the patches on. Though I will say, I ride my street glide on a daily basis, hot, cold, sun, or rain, went to see Bike Riders, purposely left both of my vests at home, didn't want to be seen as playing dress up for seeing a movie. I couldn't care less what someone rides just the fact that they ride is good enough, at the end of the day we're all bikers, we get so much hate from non-bikers why do we need to add to it, super sport or touring, it don't matter its still a canister of flammable liquid placed on top of a hot engine shoved between our legs. Good friend of mine Rides a 2012 ninja 1000, we go riding together all the time, he's considering getting a harley fatboy but also keeping his ninja, I was the one that told him he would miss it if he traded it in, he agreed.

As a life long Harley fan not currently riding one (Triumph Bobber is my bike of choice these days), all I can say is that I am disappointed in a lot of Harley riders. They are the only ones that ignore my waves, unless I am on a Harley too. Everyone else enjoys the two-wheeled brotherhood without the holier than thou attitude. I must point out that most Harley riders do wave, but there is a minority with an attitude that ruins it for everyone. And of course those are the people you remember, and talk about, and thus the Harley riders get a bad rep in general. I just greet anyone on two wheels, no matter what they are on, get some confused looks from scooter / moped riders sometimes, they are not used to people waving at them haha (This comment is of course based entirely on my experience in my local area, might not be true for everyone, and everywhere. I know for example that in some countries / areas, the adventure bike riders are the ones not getting greeted by others, especially if you are on a BMW GS, and everyone else greeting across bike styles.)

I been riding for 48 years, many many miles, over 30+ different motorcycle and one Harley. And yes you are 100% correct. The problem with Harleys are not the bikes. But rather the "holier than thou attitude" that most of their riders have.

Harley hate is more of an internet phenomenon. Most of the things people say are just outdated stereotypes. “They leak oil” “Hondas are half the price and more dependable “ “they’re just a toy for dentist and lawyers to cosplay on the weekend” I’ve been riding for almost twenty years on old sportsters, twin cams and EVOs. No oil stains in my garage. I’ve never paid more than $5k for a Harley and most of the repairs are about $50. Just do ride what you want. The fools in the comment sections probably don’t even own a bike.

It wasn’t the episode, it’s the actual idiots they where making fun of. Those people do actually exist. Been riding since I was 5. My first new vehicle ever was a Harley I was 20 years old. I’m 56 still ride daily weather permitting yet I don’t have HD tattooed anywhere on my body, and my entire identity isn’t tied up in a particular brand of motorcycle. Kind of like when being gay or whatever is your entire identity. The episode was just art imitating life.

It’s definitely more sport bike riders. Everyone I meet looks down their nose at me when I pull into a meet on my Harley. They post videos comparing themselves left and right. With the South Park episode, Harley riders catch more shit now. See, I work at Harley and I can assure you (I’ve had the conversation with everyone and their brother) we dgaf what anyone else rides. Everyone these days is so in their heads about what others think, it’s honestly disgusting. I smoke flower, cruise and I’m about freedom. Idk why that’s still a foreign concept to people.

Hahahahahaha A Harley rider is a Harley rider, just because some of us have a wardrobe that extends beyond Harley branded items doesn't mean they are posers and even if they are, who cares? They ride a Harley and support the brand probably more than the old die hard riders that only buy used and thing they are a Harley Technician, those are the "Posers". Ive run into so many people that talk the big Harley game and yet they only buy used, which doesnt support Harley.

It's comical. I'm on my sport bike and some Harley riders won't wave. I'm on the Harley and some sport bike riders won't wave. Neighbor across the street leaves at about 5:30am on his Harley, straight pipes and leaves like he is on fire every morning, not a care in the world about his neighbors. That is what gives Harley riders a bad name. Those that show zero respect. Lady bikers are not exempt from that either....

It's cause Harley dudes often act like they think they're better than everyone. Without actually being better. I know lots of riders can have ego - but Harley riders have *unfounded* ego. Whereas many sportbike riders really are super fast (not all) - many adv riders really are super adventerous (not all) - etc. Harley dudes just want you to think they're badass - and very rarely have anything to back it up with in terms of skill. Again, not all...

Good Stuff. 👍 Nice video. I would say most of what you said applies to just getting older and enjoying life more in general though, not really motorcycle specific, but if riding got you there sooner, it's certainly a bonus. I for one, think riding is a great way to be a little more in touch with our environment, a little bit of a back to nature type feeling, which helps us process things faster and more thoroughly. I guess it depends on the ride you're riding though.... the commute to work isn't usually as enlightening as an impromptu Sunday cruise can be.

Check your tire pressure weekly if you are just cruising. Tire pressure has everything to do with handling, braking and performance. Also, if you notice your pressure dropped a lot over the last month, first consider the ambient temperature and if that is not drastic, you may have a leak. Tires do not stay inflated consistently period.

Weight transfer is also what makes front brakes so much more effective. The bike is putting up to 80% of its weight on that front tire when braking hard... That's a LOT more stopping distance if you use the rear only.... Using the rear only leads to myth number 7... haddalayerdown. 😅
