I was so happy, finally a biker movie, during the age of young people driving SUV’s… We had “the wild one”, “ easy rider”, “Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man” and now Bike Riders. I am almost 60 and I live in Belgium. Since 87 I am riding. When I was young, everywhere were bikes and every boy couldn’t wait to ride. Now every boy passes the few bikes left, while watching his phone😢 When I went to see the film, the audience were a few old people… So I was happy to see a few nice bikes on the screen. Good news: I notice more and more women getting on bikes. And they say about the young men: they drive SUV and like their phones…😅 So the new generation of bikers are way more attractive then years ago😂

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I wonder if the slower pace was just to appeal to an older audience. If you watch older movies, they seem to not be in a hurry. Spaghetti movies seem intentionally slow for the sake of building suspense. Look at how long the 3-person standoff in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly takes, for example. Or the beginning scene in that one Spaghetti Western that Charles Bronson was in. Back then, slow wasn't bad - it was just from a time when folks weren't in a hurry. This movie seems to be about nostalgia, and it's older people that'll feel the most nostalgic about it. The slower pace might just be a part of that. (And I might totally change my mind about that when if and when I watch it.)

If you went in to see this movie with no knowledge of Danny Lyon or the book (titled "The Bikeriders") then I can understand why it wouldn't make much sense without that as context. Most of the dialog and events in the movie were taken directly from the book, which is basically photos of and interviews with the real people (Club members and Kathy) that were portrayed in the film. Some of the audio tapes are apparently on youtube, but I haven't looked for them yet. I think the actors did a good job, not sure about Hardys accent but in interviews he's said that it's a mishmash if all kinds of stuff, even put a little Elmer Fudd in there so I guess he nailed whatever he was going for. The book is a pretty quick read. Not a whole there to turn into a full length film so it's no surprise the story is a little slow in places. If you like old motorcycles and going to movies it's probably worth a watch. If you want to get the book it's called "The Bikeriders" by Danny Lyon, it's on Amazon.

Being from the midwest, my family grew up around and in Chicago, while Comer's accent is close to a midwestern chicago accent, it is way too exaggerated. No one speaks like that in Chicago that I've ever heard. The guy who has the best accent for the movie was Damon Herriman who played Brucie. Hardy wasn't bad, but a little TOO brando. Overall the movie felt like a complete miss, it didn't look like Chicago or Illinois, and it was very apparent. There are so many beautiful places to ride in Illinois, it's a shame this was filmed in Cincinnati, because it looks like it.

Have you watched On Any Sunday, Easy Rider, Worlds Fastest Indian , CC Rider with Joe Nameth , Dust to Glory, Time Rider, My Name is Thomas with Tarrance Hill There is a number of old Biker Movies on KZbin I have not paid to see a new movie for years. Older movies are much better. on youtube.

@@MotoDasha On Any Sunday and On any Sundy II is free on KZbin. You must be really young .. As Easy Rider is an all time classic that most every one has seen .. Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper

I haven't seen the film yet but it's based on the original Chicago Outlaws motorcycle club. Reedus character Funny Sonny is based on the real life Outlaw Funny Sonny, known for his busted up teeth. Surprisingly back in the day club members seemed to kiss alot more than you'd expect. Lol
