I own an Alien and have put thousands of rounds through it in competition. I do not have very much experience with 2011 guns but the Alien did outshoot my two CZ competition guns to the point where I sold them.

Definitely can understand that. You'd be impressed with certain 2011s, but I definitely still believe you'd come away thinking they still can't top the Alien

Questions as the video goes along: 1. 1:30 Gas Plug: It is loose by design. How do you ensure it does not unscrew with cycle of functioning of the weapon? Any suggestions while dialing in the gas pressure (5-8 feet) and then some safe means of that plug remaining static, unable to move freely?? 2. 2:51 Raising of the Dust Cover/Recoil Spring Assembly Removal: Do you need to ensure there is no tension on that spring prior to opening? Do you need to "ride the charging handle forward" to relieve the pressure prior to disassembly? Or is the spring always in the same position for recoil regardless and does NOT require any relief of coil pressure? 3. 10:30 Is there a front and back of that rubber bushing or it doesn't matter? The video shows what looks to be a curved design to the rear. 4. 10:53 Recoil Spring Retention is specific (angled lip facing forward). 5. 11:35 Recoil Spring. is that basically the designed tension at all times, except for when firing the weapon? Can that spring ever get coiled to high pressure prior to disassembly?
@EchoDelta2A5 күн бұрын
1) I honestly can't think of a good way unless it's by way of using a thick silicon gasket that can put backward tension on the plug. I was thinking Loctite initially, but the heat would break it loose regardless. 2) It won't matter if there's tension on the spring while removing the dust cover, however, I always prefer to have the bolt forward, just in case. 3) The bushing can be placed on either side so long as it's sitting in the grooves where it's up against the back of the receiver. 4) If I remember correctly, there's only one way the spring can sit in the carrier regardless but if it can be reversed, be sure to keep it in the angled position you mentioned. 5) I believe that's the only spring tension that Fostech offers, and depending on how many rounds you put through it, it will wear down over time. That said, I wouldn't expect to replace it for at least 2-3,000 shells. 6) In full transparency, I no longer have the Origin-12, so I'm doing the best I can to answer your questions based on memory.

Uhm Atlas Gunworks is not semi-custom they all handmade; Just saying. Hayes Custon was semi-custom using Rock Island guns now the Cobra is all handmade. I got a fabulous Rock island semi-custim 10 mm that he worked on but apparently it is a pain in the you know what. Due to his excellent work now, I am considering a Cobra.
@EchoDelta2A12 күн бұрын
He gets the frame and slide already pre-built, but he custom fits them. Don't get me wrong, he still hand fits all the Cobras and they do have different finishes and coatings you can customize, but that's not considered a custom 2011. They do, however, offer a full custom pistol that you can build from the ground up. The Cobras, though, are semi-custom... And still better quality than just about any other 2011 on the planet, including SVI

Absolutely would. I'd recommend the Botac or B&T low profile pic mount if you'll be adding an optic. I'd recommend either the Tommybuilt TMP Brace or a B&T triangle stock, and either the angled foregrip handguard or the vertical grip handguard. This all depending on whether you're keeping it as a pistol or converting to a SBR.

I disagree. If you've ever experienced a Military/LE virtual training simulator, you'll understand the advantage a red dot gives to any shooter, no matter how experienced or inexperienced. We had a good mix of noobs and seasoned vets, and everyone improved their time and accuracy with a red dot... Everyone. When you're in a panic situation, the dot is just more intuitive to pickup. Add to that that the MRD irons aren't my favorite either, and there's every reason for an optic (and a good one) to be necessary on such a capable pistol. Just my $.02

I need your help deciding. I have a TP9N on order but I’m double minded. How much shorter is the TP9N than this APC9K Pro ? And the weight differences ? Hopefully you help me make my mind up
@EchoDelta2A27 күн бұрын
11.9" and 3.75lbs on the TP9N and 14.66" and 6.75lbs on the APC9K. Personally, I like the additional weight on the APC, along with the build quality. Makes it a flatter shooter. The TP9 is a design that was originally owned by Steyr and bought out by B&T to try to resurrect it. There's a reason the military adopted the APC9K though. It's a tac driver and built to withstand punishment.

No contest. The Rock River is next level. Smoothest and most well-built 1911 I've ever owned, and that includes the Nighthawk and Guncrafter I used to own. The Dan Wesson is a great production gun, but the RR is a semi-custom and pretty much completely hand-built

I couldn't find any information on KZbin that compares the steel frame version to the aluminum frame version. At least you mentioned that the pro for the steel frame is more pleasant shooting and the pro for the aluminum frame is better for carrying all day long. I very much appreciate that bit of information. I don't currently own a P, but I am considering getting one soon. I own a C2 and a C2, and both of them are steel frames. Thank you for the very informative video.

Dan Wesson or CZ U.S.A. ""coughs"" has terrible P.R. or customer service. Everyone knows that. I disagree with you saying they are no#1 . I personally think Colt Gold cup will give them a run for their money at a much lower cost. If we are talking about accuracy. For which we buy all our guns for. I personally think they are overpriced, and behind the times. But to each their own. Since they were bought out I'll bet like history teaches us. They will turn into an overpriced shyte gun. Look at Remington and all the other buy outs. CZ will slack and down goes the Quality. Never once has it ever been any difference in buy outs. Great gun, goes to shyte gun. 100% happens every single time. Name one time it hasn't??? Peace.
@EchoDelta2AАй бұрын
Though I agree about the eventual results of a buyout, I don't think that CZ has shown any signs of slowing down. I agree that DW are getting overpriced, but I'm talking to someone that thinks the Colt Gold Cup has decent value. No offense meant, but quality vs quality, there's no contest. Colt's quality on 1911s has been suspect for years, and they're priced on the premium side. Also have QC issues, before and after the CZ buyout. Customer service, I agree, has been an issue for DW. Ideally, these shouldn't cost more than $1200 in today's market. Then again, a Colt should be under $1k. Based on all the 1911s I handled at SHOT show and NRA more recently, Springfield TRPs are the best value with the best build for the money. I've been thoroughly impressed with their tight fit and tolerances.
