The design of the IWI Tavor 7 bullpup battle rifle is perfect for not only long range combat, but it's also great for close quarter combat, medium range combat, breach and clear situations, and reliable to use during vehicle rides.

Just the nature of bullpups.
@hogfry
@hogfry 7 ай бұрын
I use mine for hog hunting. .308 is great for hunting in brush and obstructed terrain like scrub or forest cause its got enough mass not to deflect from small branches and twigs and its more than enough bullet for virtually any big game. The recoil impulse is mostly vertical and its light for a .308 rifle I do recommend the after market rubber but pad tho. The factory flat stock has all the padding of a public bus seat and doesn't really set into your shoulder if you have any muscle mass. Because its a bull pup its really easy to carry over long hikes, easy to snap aim, and good for making follow up shots (which is a thing with hogs they're tough little bacon flavored environmental disasters). Its no sniper rifle but for hunting up to 500`ish meters its been accurate enough. (I mostly hunt in the brush on the Oregon coast and Washington mountains so I haven't had any real opportunities to take it out past 600m so I don't know how it) The accessories are varied and great. I run the Hammerhead furniture from Manticore arms on mine It adds a little more weight over the barrel to help with the recoil. With the new trigger guard hand grip from Rx Arms and the fab defense integrated bi-pod). I've run a mountain of brass thru this thing and I've never had a jam. Its also DEAD simple to clean as the bulk of the assemble slides out the butt of the gun for maintenance. I don't usually run a solvent trap on mine but its fully set up for one (complete with a piston setting for running it suppressed) and the few times I HAVE used one... I haven't experienced any problems with it. The only real complaints I have about the gun is: The rear screw that holds the factory butt plate onto the gun is glued together with 53 gallons of blue loc tite and requires absurd work to break free (This doesn't effect maintenance thankfully, the plate hinges out of the way). It made putting the after market plate on it a chore. The Right hand mag release seems a bit under built. The pin in mine shook loose at around 500 rounds. It was a $65 fix and the gun is fully ambi so I just used the left mag release until i could get it to a guns smith. But its worth mentioning it happened. Over all this is my FAVORITE gun. It replaced my socom 16 as my primary hunting rifle

@@swingnamiss8130 I think it really depends on your use case. The Tavor excels for me as a brush gun. It's compact and easy to take on a hike with lots of elevation changes. If your hunting at longer ranges or on flat ground maybe an AR10 will serve you better.

I've had a Tavor 7 for a few years, and it has pros and cons for sure. I do find the noise/shock-wave/recoil to be a smidge jarring. It's difficult to shoot in the prone. Front rail space can be somewhat limited. I've also not found a round to be able to best a 3 MOA group. That becomes troublesome when you get north of 400 to 500 yards. The pros though....super compact, super reliable, amazing ergonomics for upright firing drills. Same with the X95. I adore my x95 as the similar accuracy is less concerning with 5.56 being a shorter range cartridge. The recoil is super smooth and less concussive. It's a bit gassy, so on a hot stagnant day you may get some watery eyes...but its so worth it. The Tavor 7 also has an adjustable gas system, unlike the X95 so it can be suppressed easily without damage to the internals. I also recommend running 20 round pmags in it to aid with prone shooting. Total score for the Tavor 7....8/10.

What a great looking setup. I’ve been keeping an eye out for one here in CA, but they are very rare in my area. Only recently have I made the right connection with an FFL who can import from AZ then add the goofy grip fine. I’d like to go with less than the 20 inch barrel but can live with that if I’m actually able to get it. Seeing your setup has re-motivated me…thank you. I’m a happy owner of a TS12 and X95, so I do have the bullpup bug. Hopefully my wife won’t notice the difference between the 7 and the X95.

I am a supporter of Israel and and have numerous Israeli tactical gear. I begrudgingly began slowly shifting to the bullpup platforms. I like the Tavor and one other bullpup maker. I may end up owning both. There will always be pros and cons to everything, bullpups are no different. However, their pros are beginning to outweigh many their cons as advancements in gun/bullpup manufacturing has take place.

Great overview. Looking at full power rifle cartridges, it really helps to have a longer barrel to get the most out of the powder. The bullpup really makes efficient use of space for that longer barrel. I heard that the Tavor 7 has a gas setting where it cuts off all the gas and doesn't cycle the action automatically at all. Do you think this would make it more accurate for precision longer range shots?
@EchoDelta2A
@EchoDelta2A 11 ай бұрын
Essentially, it turns it into a single shot or bolt action type of precision rifle. That said, the barrels on these have their limits when it comes to precision. Definitely built more for durability abd sustainability when heated after several shots fired in a short time.

Bullpups are sooooo good for dynamic environments where you can go from mid range firefights to CQB. Bet our soldiers would have been better off during the great war on terror, rather than trying to clear buildings with 14.5-16" ARs Only thing is these companies need to find night vision solutions up front and offload their trigger development to a third party cause man do bullpup triggers *suck* lol

Your dot and magnifier height seems off. Does it still work OK? What are your thoughts on the magnifier?
@EchoDelta2A
@EchoDelta2A Жыл бұрын
It might look like it, but they're perfectly in line. The magnifier comes with a height spacer to accommodate red dots with QD or standard mounts. Thus far, the magnifier has been excellent. I initially had an issue where the 308 recoil would force it to flip because the latch was too loose for a 308's recoil. I put a little loctite on the latch spring and sanded a bit of the latch shelf to give it some grit. It's been working like a charm ever since.

@EchoDelta2A
@EchoDelta2A Жыл бұрын
Yes sir. The ejection port can be swapped to the left side quite easily. Basically, you remove the bolt from the carrier, remove the cam that holds in the firing pin, rotate the bolt to so the ejector is facing the opposite direction, reinsert the firing pin and cam, put the bolt back in the carrier, and you're good there. On the ejection port itself, you pull and rotate the brass deflector, then slide it closed on the right side. You do the same but to open the left port, and you're done. I know that sounds like a lot of steps, but if you watch MAC's video on the Tavor 7, you'll see it only takes a minute to do. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3eam2iYpq2bgrs

For a 308, you'd probably need more hence, 20" is only gonna benefit you. Plus since it's a bullpup, the rifle's length isn't even an issue. A tavor 7 with a 20" is a beast anyway you put it.

How does the length of pull difference between a standard BR affect its shooting and feel ?
@EchoDelta2A
@EchoDelta2A Жыл бұрын
The length of pull of any bullpup has always felt natural to me. Not sure if that's how everyone feels but it's a non-issue as far as I'm concerned. That said, the weight distribution is a major difference that benefits the bullpup. Battle rifles tend to be heavier, and the front heavy nature of a traditional rifle makes it harder to carry and maneuver with. Bullpups have most of their weight in the rear and against your chest, which makes it far easier to carry for longer periods and more maneuverable, not to mention shorter and more capable in close quarters as well.

The SCAR 17S is just insanely expensive right now. Like CRAZY pricey. It is a shame. But that’s just how it is… If I find the cheapest price ever and use discount codes, I am still gonna fork over like $3,200 for a Scar17S. Where I can go and buy a brand new Tavor 7 for like $1,820. Now take the number “1820” and multiply it like this. (1820 x 1.76) that makes a Scar 17S 76% more expensive than a Tavor 7 😮😮😮

Lol! Yeah, the gun itself is around $1700. Then, add in the red dot, Magnifier, light, butt pad, etc... Comes out to around $2900. As far as the exposure to dirt, dust, and all - the Israelis made these for desert conditions, so I'd think that it doesn't matter what gets into that particular area. As long as it doesn't get into the chamber/operation areas, it should be ok.

I wouldn't call it an upgrade. I think the overall quality of the SCAR is hard to beat, but I prefer the bullpup in the overall scheme of things. To me, it's just more practical in more situations. Even best 308 bullpup battle rifle is contested, i own the 7 but i own the mdrx in 308, its better in my opinion, more accurate, better balance and caliber swappable. I do have to disagree about bullpups in military use, it sucks big time to road march or cover a lot of land while being timed with a bullpup, i did it for the German infantryman badge, i did it also with the famas, it sucked even worse. You are constantly keeping your right arm bent to support the weight while running or marching. The ar/m14 can be slung vertically next to your pack. The form of the bullpup make shoulder slings akward.

@@EchoDelta2A your opinion on bullpups is interesting. Israel has made the Tavor their main battle rifle, while China has moved back to the QBZ191 from the QBZ95. You really think bullpups are the future? What are you thoughts on the RM277, it could have been the standard American bullpup. I love it’s simplicity.

Like you, I'm very curious how the RM277 fairs in trials. Seems like a solid platform and one that has some forward thought into it. I don't think the US is ready to adopt it on a large scale, but at least some special units will have the honor of being the first to use it. I'm hopeful it'll make people rethink what our primary rifle should be.

@EchoDelta2A
@EchoDelta2A 3 ай бұрын
I feel Bullpups, especially in 308, benefit from a grip or at least a handstop you can brace your hand up against. They're very rear heavy, so muzzle rise is more of an issue than with a conventional rifle. The grip or handstop helps to mitigate some of that. Everything else is usually just for show lol.

Jesus Christ said “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” If you wish to seek God’s heart seek first Jesus Christ, He is the bread of life. He is the living water. No one who drinks from Him will again be thirsty. And no one who eats from Him will go hungry. Let the Lord be your strength and let Him lead you to still waters. Be at peace in Christ, lest you join the devil and his angels in the lake of fire and suffer for eternity. This is the free gift of God. Believe in the one who He has sent!

“Any military that isn’t already adopting them in large numbers is putting their soldiers in a great disadvantage” is an extremely inaccurate statement. Given the fact that compact weapons are often less accurate, this is why US military continues to use the traditional design even when switching to .277 Fury. The other obvious example is Chinese PLA replacing their standard issue Type 95 bullpup rifles with Type 191 which uses a traditional design. Both countries chose to adopt new rifle systems for the increased weapon effective range. However, bullpup rifles can be just as good if not better if a longer barrel is used, which in the end could be as heavy as a carbine rifle with traditional design. Tavor 7 is a great rifle and I own one with a 20” barrel, but as a civilian with less concern of carrying a rifle all day I would pick an AR-10 over a Tavor 7 for better accuracy
@EchoDelta2A
@EchoDelta2A Жыл бұрын
Right but point being that a 20" standard format rifle will be front heavy and a bigger burden to carry and manoeuver with in combat where a 20" bullpup would have the profile of a 14" AR and have most the weight in the rear.

Listen, I'm not trying to hype anything. You're arguing that two rifles, with the same caliber and length barrels, likely the same barrels altogether, have different effective ranges. And you're stating the rifle based on an 80 year old design is better. I'd love to know what your reasoning is. In my point of view, you're comparing almost identical rifles built for different purposes.
