Could I just run a ground wire from pgm 1 and positive from Aux + to a led controller I have to trigger led lights when the house alarm comes on? And configure that in the dsc keypad
@AlarmSystemStore
@AlarmSystemStore 2 күн бұрын
Yes, as long as the relay can be powered by the 50mA @ 12V that the PGM supplies, that would work fine. The main issue with PGM1 or other low current PGMs is finding devices that can use that small amount of power, but if you can work that out you can accomplish many handy tasks with PGM outputs.

The existing videos from back when this panel was in service are all we have for the NX systems. Its been long discontinued and we dont have an NX system anymore, so we have no way to make any other videos on it. The best advice I can give is to use the installation manual along with whatever info you can glean from the existing videos.

You'll use address 8. Start with 7 for the first expander and go in order. The small paper that comes with the expander shows the dip switch settings, but if you dont have that, you can find it here towards the bottom of the doc: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1659/9809/files/4219-without-EOLR-option--Installation-Instructions.PDF?415632166615481284

@AlarmSystemStore

The system required is just the set of trouble directly related to the main system. Troubles can be related any device connected to your system, so the majority of troubles will not display "system required". You'll just need to identify which module the trouble is indicating which is covered in the video.

The configuration download is done through Alarm.com, without a panel being activated Alarm.com doesnt provide a way to pre-configure anything. In theory though, yes, you could pre-activate a panel and set a few things up via Alarm.com prior to installing the unit, but the majority of the programming would need to be done at the panel.

The IQ panels generally speak the name of the sensor opened. You'll need to check the volume of the panel in the drop down menu to make sure it is turned up. If the chime has been turned off though you will need the installer code to enter programming and enable chimes.

@AlarmSystemStore
@AlarmSystemStore Ай бұрын
Id love to take a look, but we tend to not be able to work with much Honeywell and Resideo equipment. They make everything so proprietary, and being a DIY dealer a lot of the options they provide just do not offer the flexibility we try to offer our customers. After a quick google search it looks like the H3 uses the PROSIX sensors, which proved problematic for us because of the way they lock to the system they are enrolled on initially, so its unlikely we'll ever check it out. If I do though we'll definitely put a vid up about it!

What resistor are you using in this panel? The 2k or dsc 5.6
@AlarmSystemStore
@AlarmSystemStore Ай бұрын
We're using a Honeywell system, so they are the 2K resistors plus the unique resistor that comes with the COSMOD. The resistors you put on the COSMOD terminals will always be the resistor that the panel your working with needs. The End of line resistor on the sensors is the COSMOD resistor.

I think youd be pretty surprised with the IQ Pro programming, after a short programming session the only time consuming part of the app programming is letting it run its diagnostics when you first connect. After that you just enroll and set the zones and thats all you have to do to get started. Obviously there are other settings that you can edit if needed, but we were very impressed with how quickly it went. We'll have a video up on it soon. Addressable sensors however may not be shown since Im not sure if we will carry them. We'll try to cover them if we can though.

How do you program a 2-wire smoke for delayed 24-Hour Fire. When my smoke is activated it goes into immediate alarm which is not desired in cases where burnt toast sets off the smoke.
@AlarmSystemStore
@AlarmSystemStore Ай бұрын
2-wire smokes cannot be set with a delay unless the system specifically offers that feature. Im not sure of any systems offer that, but the DSC and other systems we carry all have instant trigger on 2-wire smokes. You would need to use 4-wire smokes if you wanted to have a delayed trigger on smoke detectors. Generally its better to use heats in the kitchen rather than smokes, so you might think about replacing whichever sensor is being triggered that way.

Really nice video, i started as an apprentice electrician but our boss also does security so i got into that, this video helps a ton, but i do have 1 question, if the System calls for 1100 ohm resistor what would happen if i were to use 1000 ohm cause i'm out of 1100? (i'm not gonna do this, we'll just wait for the order to come and finish the job some other day)
@AlarmSystemStore
@AlarmSystemStore Ай бұрын
It depends on the tolerance of the system. Either way it wouldnt hurt anything to put it on, but if the tolerance doesnt allow 100ohm difference then the system will not see the right resistance rating. For example if it were a zone, the zone would show a fault just as if the resistor were not connected.

We're not familiar with the Vista 48 models, so we wouldnt be much help there. If you wanted a fresher system though, you could go with a 20P, or move to something more modern than Honeywell like the DSC NEO system. Both are hardwired so you should be able to keep any wired sensors you currently have.

@AlarmSystemStore
@AlarmSystemStore 2 ай бұрын
It would have to be a wiring issue if there is no water at all. These detectors trigger when they are shorted, so if your wires are pinched somewhere, or if perhaps a mouse is picking at the wires, that could short the wires and create a false alarm. If you can I would just check all the wiring connections, and if possible inspect the rest of the wiring.

So I have (multiple series) loops and each loop contains magnetic window switches, as well as shock sensors in between the (Anderson style) windows. I can’t wrap my head around how that works. Honestly nobody has ever set off the shock sensors and I’m not sure they are doing anything. I took a multimeter and isolated one shock sensor. There are 4 wires, but the installer only used two of them. There’s continuity between the wires. When I hit the sensor it very briefly fluctuates ohms, but within a second, there’s continuity again. Can something like this actually work? A split second change in resistance? It’s an older ademco vista 20 system. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
@AlarmSystemStore
@AlarmSystemStore 2 ай бұрын
Most systems have a response time of less than half a second, so yes it should work fine, though its designed to catch a window breaking, so they can sometimes take a decently good hit before triggering. Otherwise youd run into false alarms. Its a bit unique that your shock and contact sensors are all wired in the same loop, but they're all 2-wire sensors, so they should all just be wired in series.
