The Nexus bus driver behavior seems weird. And the passenger behavior is even more despicable and definitely needs to be reported.

Nothing I love more than watching bus spotting in the city I live in lol. Worth noting the CitySightseeing route was permanently canclled after the 2023 summer so the Skycar is the only open top about. Also the two Fencers in the fleet weren't ordered by Cardiff Bus, but ae ex demonstrators that were purchased.

Nice video, though is there a reason why you call buses like 19498 a Trident when it's an Enviro400 as the Trident ceased production in 2006?
@darylyatestransportblogs3 күн бұрын
They are badged Tridents since they are a modified version of the Trident chassis its the same with the E200 initially being badged as a Dart 4 chassis, I don’t know how different the chassis are though in both classic and MMC spec apart from having newer Cummins engines.
@LucyMichela3 күн бұрын
The First Generation Enviro 400s were still classed as Tridents. The second generation ones were when the chassis was named the "E40D", even though those are technically Trident 5s officially. That's why though.

Having not been watching buses round Manchester for a fair few years, it does seem strange seeing double deckers on the Free Bus routes. I remember these routes were originally Solos and then went onto Versa's. I also go back even further in the 80's when the equivalent route was run by Dennis Domino's.

In fairness, the deckers are a stopgap. There's supposed plans to invest in new electric singles for them in the next wave of Bee Network orders

Great video again Lucy! Quick question....in the future, will every bus in Greater Manchester have the Yellow livery? 👍🙂
@LucyMichela5 күн бұрын
The Bee Network livery and interiors will be fitted to every bus operated on routes under the network. Whilst that is in theory every depot within the region, the exception to that theory is Belle Vue Coaches, as the 391, 392 and 393 will remain commercial routes due to being funded by Cheshire East Council

33:20 that bodywork had multiple names for the same reason all the Wright bodywork did. It was just different chasses. The Millennium part was the facelift (which that mod is). Vyking was the B7TL variant and Lolyne was the Trident variant. I believe the OmniDekka was the Scania variant of all of that, as the Nordic was the B7L variant.

So sorry about your bad experiences, I really don't get some people! Anyhow, a little more background on the history of what's now the 184. Originally, the route from Huddersfield-Olham via Marsden was run by an operator called Hansons, a company involved in many things, which would go onto become a big multi national PLC! But buses didn't fit into that port folio, so it sold the route to Huddersfield Corporation in, I think 1969. Huddersfield would be one of the fleets to be taken over by West Yorkshire PTE (as Metrobus), this becoming Yorkshire Rider after deregulation, which would sell to Badgerline, which became First Bus in 1995. At some point, I think after deregyulation, the route was extended to Manchester (numbered 556, I think) but, once First had took over Greater Manchester North, the route was integrated into GMN's 184, which then ran from Manchester-Upper Mill, with 184 being used for the run to Huddersfield. A lovely run that I've only done once. I take it that the 57 has replaced the Rushcroft section of the 59, which I notice now terminates at Oldham. Take care Lucy.

Metrolink has a bright future. I was there in St Peter's Square back in 1992 when the network first ran and watched it branch-out, ever larger over the years. Due to it's unique flexibility of being able to be both street-running alongside traffic, and using conventional railway infrastructure there's absolutely no reason why Metrolink cannot one-day run a line down every major highway in Greater Manchester (and beyond!), not to mention suitable for tunnels so one day even underground. Our cities for fathers must have wept when they short-shortsightedly tore up our extensive streetcar network, maybe Metrolink will one day be worthy of making them proud of what a future Manchester has achieved.

First Enviro 300s have Cummins 6.7L engines (6 cylinder) with Allison gearboxes (same as the ex JPT two), Stagecoach Enviro 300s have the same 6.7 Cummins with Voith gearboxes. Enviro 200s usually have 4 cylinder 4.5L Cummins engines but as ADL dropped the Enviro 300 when the Euro 6 Enviro 200 MMC was released, the full length Enviro 200 MMC had the option of a 6.7 (as found in Bee Network/GNW 41xx and Transdev Burnley 5xx). I think you can get the newer Enviro 200 MMC with an Alison XFE with the 4 cylinder but I can't stand the 4 cylinder MMCs because the turbo sounds horrible.

This is so grim and I am sorry this happened to you. On the second incident, please report it to the police - this is definitely a crime. It may be that there is little they can do after the event, but reporting it adds to the statistics. The police should also collect information about you as a victim, which is especially important if you feel the incident was motivated by your gender, age, race etc - this will also go some way to proving politically that this is a problem. I hope you complained about the first driver too; intrusive staring is absolutely not on and his comments about your badges/camera are stupid and unprofessional.

One thing I have noticed is that eventually you could use modern “second hand” buses as the world is moving to electric buses meaning more and more later buses such as the ones in the past few years are being replaced with electric buses like in London every time they change contracts of the operator the operator immediately orders electric buses to replace the diesel ones.
@barrowc22 күн бұрын
Sorry that happened to you, Lucy. Drivers who deliberately make passengers uncomfortable shouldn't be employed and people who randomly threaten strangers are just horrible individuals. @FPs_transport_vids23 күн бұрын
I'm not trying to start any shit but the drivers behaviour seems to be more as a response to the camera/you filming rather than your badges. I may be wrong but the fact that he was literally asking you why you were filming and responding in a rude way to your answer to that rather than saying something transphobic would strongly suggest so.
@LucyMichela23 күн бұрын
The camera was the third thing he commented on, and he wasn't just staring at me it was an intense and intimidating stare... Regardless of that, it's not okay to make someone uncomfortable, so let's not try to justify it??
