Oh yeah I know the AI aren't difficult, after having already completed the main championship, the 'Showdown' is just for a bit of arsing about, hence the 'Touring Car Bowling' aspect. When it comes to proper sim racing, I'm an incredibly clean racer, this is purely for the shits and giggles. For me, after having completed the World Tour on ToCA Race Driver 3, I would definitely say that, for me, personally, the second game is a lot more balanced. TRD3 is still a phenomenal game, though, with the huge amount of championships available.

@@Dan-Bartlett ok ok fair enough. Tbh i dont like sims. I like a lil arcadeyness to make it fun like the toca series always had. Had some epic races vs the ai, theyd make you work for it. Polar opposite of gt4 lol

@@plisskenationbackfromthede3657 I prefer the sims but I do love a bit of arcade action from time to time. Ridge Racer 6 is brilliant, and some of the 'OutRun' clones on Steam are amazingly good fun, like Slipstream or Horizon Chase Turbo is another great little racer. So many to choose from these days, we're spoilt for choice! :D

Yes, once you complete the main championship, the 'Showdown' is unlocked, everything is mirrored including the car liveries

Nope, it was a limitation with the PlayStation version. They are on the PC version, however. It would make identifying the drivers much, much easier than just from their numberplates

Yep! I needed to get enough points to open the Lola championship, so I repeated the V8s off screen and spliced in the cutscene you get when the final championship becomes available! :D

@@TheLaurelCrown Hahaha, well the AAS series was just a big a pain as the V8s with the awful car handling. Besides, I never said I was smart! It was hell, took a good two hours to eventually win enough events to give me a decent points haul. But, at least its done and I can get this series finished, finally!

Thank you! I'm very glad you enjoy the series! My setup is very easy. I use a plugin called 'XD!' that allows the track map and live standings that you can reposition. As for the live replay - I just wait for the race to be over, then save the replay separately. I then overlay the replay over the main footage with my custom boarder while editing, then spend the following 2+ hours syncing everything up. The car illustrations are from BTCC blueprints, but all the other graphics, grid and standings boards I made from scratch from reviewing old footage

@@Dan-Bartlett Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling that the replays were done post race, but you incorporate them very well. I've had a go trying to get the XD plugin to work, but can't :p Keep up the good work - I've noticed you've done some PS1 TOCA drives recently that I may well give a watch.

@@bigd747 It's a bit finicky to get working properly, no idea why! If you need help getting it up and running I'll gladly lend a hand! I've already finished off ToCA WTC, just trying to get through the older ones to add them into a chronological playlist. Similar to what I've done with the ToCA Race Driver series. Very time consuming!

Oh, yeah it's a 10-fold improvement over the original. Handling and car behaviour especially. But, even with the improvements, I still prefer the first game. No idea why. I think it's just the very cheesy rock tunes or just the dated look to everything just makes me feel nostalgic

I still thing the worst stage on this game is the Alps on the hard mode. The time limit on there is so incredibly strict compared to the other stages. And the tight, twisty nature of it, it's just a total nightmare!

With still 4 races remaining and double points for the last round, anything can happen!

Yeah, it was to be expected around Anderstorp. One of my weaker circuits to race around. At least the following round at Mo i Rana is more suited to my tastes!

I'll be honest, I never liked the model they made for the Corolla, it looked too weird at the rear. My favourite, if I were to pick, would be the Skoda Felicia and Peugeot 306. I'm very fond of the older hatchbacks!

It must've been an April fools issue, I remember the screenshots vividly. More games need little secrets like that. Similar to what they did in Driver 2, to drive off the beaten path and come across these little bonus cars

Well, the order of these events were all determined by the viewers, so it was out of my hands. Shakes things up a bit, though. I prefer leaving anything like this to the viewers, makes people feel more included on how these games are run, etc

@@Dan-Bartlett yes. I remember first playing this on my new DC and not used to sims (although I did have Revs for the C64) thinking this's be an arcadey Sega game. First corner straight off into the barrier. Hmm i'm going to have to learn how to brake 🙂

@@hazy33 Haha I was exactly the same. One game I found particularly enjoyable both on PC and Dreamcast was the original Sega GT. Looks a bit dated but it's incredibly good fun! A bit like the first Gran Turismo in a way, but loads of championships to keep you busy

@@hazy33 For me, I prefer the PC/Dreamcast version, because it has those rougher graphics and it just feels more rustic, but the Xbox version is still a fantastic game. Lacking in a few areas, but they're both equally great but for their own reasons, so it's really down to user preference

I believe it's purely static dry or wet weather. So far, I've not had the weather changing during the race, but the races are short, for now. Maybe when using full race distances for the GT1, the weather may change during the race, but I have absolutely no idea

They're not, they're all going the correct direction. They're just using the longer configuration which looks ass-backwards at times

I have no real intention of doing anything after 1994. The editing time, and the effort I put into this series for little to no return takes the enthusiasm away from doing more in future. Not to mention the fact so many people have done similar ideas since I started it in 2017. I also worked with the mod curator and created some of the replicas liveries that are available with the mod. But, after one of my projects was taken by another artist without consent, I don't plan on doing anything else within the mod itself and would rather focus on the base game once 1994 is done. As for the Stratus, that's not entirely correct. The very similar Chrysler Stratus ran in the Swedish Touring Car Championship from 1999 to 2001. Of course it's not a Dodge but the cars are more-or-less similar

Yep, it closed in 2018. Originally they were going to build new homes on the site, but more recently logistics companies use it for car storage and the track is occasionally used for filming KZbin content on car reviews etc. It's still a horrendous track, though!

It's really not a hard championship. It's purely down to how shit the car handles with its diabolical oversteer nonsense, which makes it more complicated than it ought to be. But, it's done, at least. Only the Lola championship to do and then the series is wrapped up. Sod going through every series like I did in 2018. Ain't got patience for that nonsense

Yeah, this game doesn't really hold up all that well. It's an incredibly inconsistent game, both with handling and AI characteristics. TRD 2 is still the more well balanced

I think he was still referred to as Dr. Robitnik, I just like calling him his original name 'cause it sounds better. The whole backstory on his name change and how Sonic became blue was just incredibly dumb, but, hilarious!

However it's pronounced, it's still an incredibly dumb name for a vehicle. Almost as bad as the Bentley Hunaudières
