Nowadays such a family would be in food banks and with children's social services poking their noses into the family and even placing some in foster care.

I like how overly literal this video is 😂😂😂 all the disembodied Lucy’s floating around give it a bizarre trippy vibe - she looked pretty good in those cool 60s Mod clothes btw

I believe this part was offered to Bette Davis first but she wanted more money that Desi and Lucy didn’t want to pay.

I love that when Ethel Merman turns off the phonograph, the orchestra continues. That’s some record!

Ethel never took singing lessons! I believe that it was Irving Berlin who told her that she wanted her to sound natural.

This woman was periodically on our television sets from 1951 Henry Morgan's Talent Hunt through 1989 as Madam a Go-Go in Mario Brothers Super Show. She was a regular on the Perry Como show and the Doris Day Show But as a stage/ comedy performer, she was touring in Spike Jones revue in the 1940's. The woman did stand-up, impersonations, and characters. She was on Broadway in 'The Golden Apple, and played Ruth in the Pirates of Penzance. and toured in Nunsense. Once she settled in California, she continued to work on the local stage all the way to 2015 into her early 80's. By the wayShe put out a few records as well did some radio. .

When she is not vamping for the camera, for laughs, she is quite pretty. They were both song & dance vaudevillians long before their radio & TV programs.

I saw The Late Show recently for the first time recently. I tend to agree- this was an Oscar worthy performance . Of course, Carney had won his Oscar for Harry and Tonto a couple of years prior but this was as good a piece of work as that.

Historically, Broadway shows have long lives for two reasons: 1. The show itself is popular, no matter who is in it (A Chorus Line, Grease, Cats, etc) or 2. The star attraction is replaced with another star (Hello, Dolly!, Woman of the Year, Chicago - Revival). Unfortunately, there just wasn't another Lucy, so the show folded without her. Same with Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl.

Two Carols I met Carol Channing on The Mike Douglas show and got pictures with her and asked her if she would send me a picture and sign it and she asked my Mom for our address and two weeks later a large envelope arrived and inside was a 8 by 10 if Carol in Hello Dolly and one by herself in a portrait picture both signed to me and a letter she wrote saying to Scotty my new good friend from The Mike Douglas Show I did not forget your pictures here they are hope to see you next time I'm on Mike's Show. I sent Carol back a letter telling her how I hoped my Mom and I could see her on Broadway as Dolly. I got another letter from Carol asking me when we wanted to cone see The show. We picked a date and Carol sent us Front Row seats for that night and the a letter that told them to let us back stage and back we went. The greatest thing was my Mom had bought Carol a beautiful Cross and we gave it to he that night and she loved it. 2 months later Carol returned to The Mike Douglas show in which we were in the audience again and,Mike asked her about the Cross and she said this is my favorite Cross I wear and My Friends Scott and his Mom Doris gave me this and she pointed out and said there they are right there I love them. I still have that video of The Mike Douglas Show and my Mom and I never forgot Carol Channing. We did meet Carol Cook as Dolly years later and she was a nice lady to.
