I accidentally dipped my flashlight in seawater while walking on the beach just for 1 second. It was waist-high. I thought it said water-resistant, but when I checked later, seawater was all over the case, causing my energizer batteries to heat up and drain. Since there's no gasket, water will definitely seep through the enclosure. What I did later was to add a thin gasket into the cap that prevented the water from coming in.

I wonder what is the max Voltage you'd ever see in that Honda. Some of the older cars would boost Voltage when started in very cold weather, like in the excess of 17V which a lot of LEDs won't handle, the same issue I had with LEDs in my lawn tractor until I put in that buck regulator. I don't think they do much of a cold boost in modern cars but haven't checked mine in the rare sub-zero conditions.

I never measured it, but I notice a soft ramp up of the brightness of the headlights after I start the car as if it is electronically controlled. Probably no more than 14 volts or so.

i have two ducted heat pumps that i picked up used cheap. i am a home owner but i was in a pinch and needed heat and didnt want a $500 electric bill and so far so good for about 85% of the year. its been three years now and in the coldest of cold they never shut off and it can get to about 60f in the 1800 sq ft house. i have been about to pull the trigger on one of these thinking it could carry most of the weight of heating the house and then kick on the other units if need be the coldest of cold. your video pretty much sold me, granted i dont know what else you are doing for heat in the your house. two weeks ago, when it was 10f below zero and constant crazy winds it got down to about 52f in my house, while being home sick with pneumonia so i fired up my back up portable kerosene heater and got it up to 80f in just a few hours. i am sure my portable ducted heat pumps are not that great when its that cold, it seems like when it reaches about 25f outside it really starts to cool off inside. i know insulation is playing a role two, as its 28 outside and its 65 in the house now, which is about 1 degree higher than my prefernence and i am sitting here in nothing but shorts and a t shirt. i would like to get two or three of these units and tie them into the air intake on the existing hvac system in the basement and just use the existing hvac's blower motor and duct work to get that thermal energy spread around the house. money is much better now and in fact i just bought a thermal camera in preparation for setting this all up. personaly i dont see the need to spend 10 to 15k on a hvac system so i am just going to peice it together my self, and power from my existing solar panel and battery system. while using my thermal today, i spoted several spots in my basement where the inside walls were 29f, there were about 7 of these spots, i plant to patch those leaks up , and last week i found a hot spot of my roof where it there was a 2ft sqaure of roof that was 55f, despite it being about 39f outside, still need to crawl up there and see what going on in the attic.

We just bought an 18,000 BTU Senville, and mounting it above a passageway between rooms, the main room having a vaulted ceiling. It does seem to me, these mini-splits should be mounted much lower on the wall, or use a ceiling fan. We have two ceiling fans that have run constantly for the past five years, to keep our 600 square foot room comfortable, year-round. The only other heat is a wood stove.

The "yellower" normally indicates 2700k not 3200k. The original Tungsten lamps, certainly in theatre lighting, were about 2700k; then Tungsten-Halogen came along at approx 3200k. Whilst all the while 'daylight' fixtures (usually movie) were around 5200/5600k. These varying CT's have output 'look' implications, particularly when comparing light output 'quality' on a blank wall.

I have been running a small pioneer mini-split for 5 years now. Other that having to research the remote functions a bit, it has been great. I did have to shield the outdoor unit (a mini-roof of sorts) to keep it clear of ice and snow accumulation. I definitly would buy another Pioneer ductless but recommend the highest SEER rating you can afford.

That white washer thing is actually a "slinger". It's an integral part of the oiling system. It is the part which draws oil through the bearing and slings it back into the bearing wick in the bushing cap where it is somewhat filtered and returned to the bearing surface. The more you know...

Dang, I really need to know what those oil-absorbing pads are made of so that I can replace because dry pieces of that same blower-wheel-side sealed bushing pad(aka packing) blew away when I was using compressed air to clean up that area on MY motor. Day & Nite furnace here - very similar to yours. No furnace we buy today is going to last decades.

I installed a couple of different mini splits this year. My small home bedroom unit is a Pioneer 9000 BTU. I also got one that works to -13 on paper, and is an inverter++ model. I was away visiting family and monitoring the unit remotely with a wifi GoVee thermometer. When it got to -9 my mini was still keeping the room at the set temp 62 degrees as well. I did notice that it was running from 59-62 degrees at -9, where before at -6 it had been running 62-64 degrees. Since it is supplemental heat, I shut it down until it got warmer out. Over all very happy with how it worked.

Looks like your temps get some regulation from the lakes, although you do get a lot of snow. The wind chill was brutal here. Amazing it still heats at such low temps. The output falls off quite a bit below 0 though. I use the 4000 watt electric heater to supplement.
