Personally I prefer Mac for general use, but if real-time rendering is your main requirement, then the Please confirm with 4060 rex is probably best as you can also use D5 Render and Twinmotion Path tracing.

Thanks for your thoughts, and you have a good point. However, the technology is currently in its infancy, so lets see where this goes in the future, and I feel its better to understand and experiment, and integrate AI than ignore it!

I guess I'd like to see VW find other uses, e.g., callout generation & management, specification coordination, setting out details and callouts on sheets, manage resource libraries, convert past projects into an intelligent database, converting website info into assets, and software coaching in real time. I guess the point behind my point is that this use case is flashy and interesting but is a small component of the delivery process. WRT to my last point in my list, I strongly feel that 'AI-generated real-time video coaching' is the golden opportunity here. I want to be able to say (i.e., literally talk to it) to the software, 'Hey VW, I'm frustrated because I want to do x' and then for it (the software) to layout in simple steps, a video-based coaching solution. VW should put all their AI resources into this problem, IMO.

@@Davey.G.67 I think that AI tutoring is an amazing idea for the future, but probably a way off. Until then, this is a service I provide via Zoom globally to many of my clients as a teacher, trained and also consultant, and I have to say the human interaction is very rewarding for both myself and my clients.

Good question and not sure, but now with Lumen, it's a bit less critical. Personally, I am not sure it will be supported as at present it require dedicated GPU's

The 3D image props are really cool. I haven't had much chance of playing around with the AI visualisation yet, but this is a great primer.

I use the Stake object for this rather than the survey point and that has full controls for Northings and Eastings or Longitude and Latitude and also elevation etc.

@jonathanreevescad thank you so much! I saw some benchmark and real world test difference between the M4 and the M4 pro and the GPU performance is almost double, totally worth the money for the upgrade.

The Quick Preferences in the Top right corner gives you the setting for the View Bar and also turn on all your quick pref buttons. I always help people set up Vectorworks properly when training as 99% have this wrong and not optimised.

I had a look and tried your suggestion, but I was unable to replicate "the layout of icons" that you have on your Document Tabs (eg In "the tab "Untitled 2" where the icons appear UNDER the Document Tab, and which arrangement would appear to have the potential to be a unique layout - specific to each new Document Tab)? In one of your other YT videos (Mastering Images & AI in Vectorworks 2025: Tips and Tricks ... at 7m50), you display the icon and tab arrangement that I have, and am trying to change from (ie all the icon toolbars appear ABOVE the Document Tabs). These are markedly different icon arrangements ... How exactly did you get there? How do you switch between these very different arrangements?

I don't think so, as the RTX graphics card are best for full ray tracing, but Lumen is almost as good and so much faster I hardly ever use path tracing for production work.

The M4 Pro will be fine for this, and is a great machine.

I am not sure, but will try and test when I get my new M4 soon.

That sounds like a good idea as long as you can put the display in target mode? To be honest though, have you considered trade in the iMac or sell it and get another non apple 32" 4k Screen like the ones from BENQ?

Thats an impressive machine, but you really don't need to max the RAM that high for 99% of workflows 24 or 35 GB is more than enough. I prefer the 16" screen size to work on, and for use as an extra monitor, and my trusty M1 MacBook Pro with only 16GB RAM has been amazing for 3 years!. I will be upgrading soon though when I finally decide which way to go. Probably the 16" M4 Max Base model is enough.

@ Thank you for your reply! I am switching from windows laptop to macbook so I’m letting go of 3ds max although i’m a user of 6 years. Your videos made me take the decision to switch to a macbook and start using Sketchup + Vray instead. I am planning to take your courses and start fresh. Now the reason why I am going for a high ram is because I don’t want lags and crashes while heavy rendering. Any advices on that?
