We're a long way from Marble Hornets and Everyman Hybrid, but this piece gave me the same enthusiasm as those, the same investment, thanks Nick

The Phase 4 bit definitely feels like a further exploration of the themes of Folding Ideas' "I Don't Know James Rolfe" and the situation the titular KZbinr finds himself in.

i don't think this was the intended meaning at all, but if we're talking perception, i can't help but personally take away that this story is about maddison. i was a teenage girl growing up in a bit of a madhouse myself, and i keep circling around to her. in the main film, she's so desperately in need of help and the family ignores her for being "dramatic" until it's too late. that hits home. mixed with how she's constantly in the bathroom trying to avoid the other people in the house (and the cameras). she's the least focused on besides the grandmother, her home has been entered by two new people at the will of her mom and they immediately seem to become the focus of the household. she doesn't want to be in the house. her parents are falling for a delusion and projecting it onto everyone else. personally, i think the mom "diagnosed" her with lynks using the newsletter test, rather than address that she's a teenager who is suffering. to me personally, she's the only one in the house who isn't falling for the madness and she can't stay there. even the title feels pointed. "this house has people in it". not a home. not a family. a house with people in it. maddison's exclusion from the wider narrative speaks so loudly to me. she's the only one who actually shows symptoms of a horrific condition. and she lands on the mattress, this isn't what hurts her. but then she vanishes. she removes herself from the story. she suffers and for what? to be told she has an imaginary disease instead of being helped? again, i don't think this was what the creators intended but if it's all about perception......... i see you maddison. i'm so sorry.

I remember watching the theories with my sister because we were interested and we always found the muse parts strange and unusual. It's funny to see now that I'm into ARG's I can recognise that it is one.

Fuck yeah dude, this video was awesome. No matter what kind of horrendous bullshit I deal with, Night Mind always brings me comfort and helps me through it. And I doubt I’m alone in saying that.

I also watched promos years ago, and a bunch of the horror shorts. The dude’s like a kindred spirit to me, and I’ve only spoken to him twice through comments. His whole sense of humour and creativity is so relatable, and his ability not to take himself too seriously is so respectable. He also has a genuineness and humility that I find very refreshing. Pizza Time Pizza is also great.

This was a fantastic watch and dissection of the whole Alex Bale KZbin.... ARG and History? I don't even know what to call all of it. But, uh. Far more important some of those parts at the end were pretty viceral. Either you've taken your already impressive voice acting skills up to the next level or this hit home for you. Which brings me to my intended point; You Good Nick? Like, you doing ok? Do you want to stop doing ARGs or expand your content but like, you've found its not as successful or like, are you unhappy doing KZbin or something? That last bit really made me worry about you dude. I get it, I'm some nobody on the internet but like. I dunno. There's nothing I can say that would help I because any thoughts I could offer would be from some random guy who can't know what's going on. But if its just the voice acting then like, holy shit dude. Totally other level stuff compared to basically anything I've heard.

To be fair, The Dark Knight Rises IS a flawed mess. The worst of its plot holes are: 1) broken backs don’t work like that 2) stock markets don’t work like that and 3) explosives laced concrete doesn’t work like that. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fun movie. But if you need to disengage your brain in order to enjoy a movie, then I think we can agree that it’s flawed.

My version of the spongebob videos is a series of videos I made "reviewing" KSP designs made by others. I loved it. It was painful. I hate it. I want to do it again. I dread doing it again.

This video made me cry at the end. I DO understand. I didn't realize just how much this was about the flip side of my experience. I'm the failure because I stopped feeding the muse. But it's also painful to succeed and keep feeding it.

I keep commenting because I keep thinking I'm at the end of this video, when I haven't actually quite reached it. "It will be the name you refer to yourself as in your head" hit so fucking hard. I WAS Guard13007 for years. When I eventually realized that name doesn't fit ME, I tried to change it. But that never really worked. It is the name I saddled myself with. I can't escape it.

Why do I keep finding things that remind me of my own experiences running a channel? About a decade ago, I made it, briefly. A couple million views, a thousand dollars.. but it hurt.

I'm at 2:37:50 and feeling a little scared. See, I've had a lucid dream that I woke up from. And then I realized I was still asleep. And I woke up. And I was still asleep. I went through a cycle of false awakenings SEVEN times. I spent the whole day after that afraid I was still asleep. I was crying. Thinking about the meta-level here and depiction of psychosis just reminds me that I've nearly been there before. What if I don't wake up, again?

I knew of Pizza Time Pizza, and that Alex Bale had done other stuff. When I watched the Spongebob videos, I just enjoyed them at a surface level. I loved the twist of the muse but assumed that was the only thing going on there. I wasn't going to open this video, but the run-time intrigued me. How can you make 3 hours out of explaining something that's itself only a couple hours, mostly of spongebob theories which are obviously only the ignored surface layer? I must've missed something. Dear God. There's SO MUCH MORE.

This visuals in this series are off the charts. A lot of "tall thing looming in then darkness" shots like at 12:30 that look fantastic. According to a comment further down a photographer is behind this project and you can def tell. My only super minor critique is that it kinda drags on. I'm not saying there needs to be a jump scare every episode or anything, but it def could quicker escalation. Almost feels like things ramp down since the first or second episode has the best scare in the series, which is the grey figure sitting in the chair that's visible in the motion blur.

I thought I was genuinely losing it when we were talking about conspiracy Carl. It felt like I ended up in the wrong timeline because I could have sworn Cynical critic was the channel that was applying pressure to Alex because of a muse, so much so I had to go look it up to make sure I wasn’t losing it.

Alex Bale knows the KZbin algorithm more than almost anyone. Not only did he seem to know making Spongebob related videos would get a crapload of views, but he knew making ragebait, contrarian movie reviews would get him a decent amount of views too, all in the name of the storyline.

I loved this deep dive of a project I’ve been following for so long! But in the end, I found myself struggling. This hurt. Because it’s not just content creators. Some of us live balancing on this tightrope. Being well-liked for being the clown when you’re harboring so many deep sorrows. Knowing you have to smile. They love you when you smile. You HAVE to smile After all, you don’t want to let them down, do you?

Good media entertains. Great media makes you think. Timeless media makes you feel deep and profound things. Not only does Alex Bale manage this. You, Mr. Nocturne, fill your words with such emotion that we can’t help but taste the same bitter fear and sugary wonder you felt as well. It’s soothing in a melancholic sort of way. Musical and dreamy like the tail end of a half-remembered lullaby from the depths of a nightmare. Or something worded in a way that’s… less… pretentious… XD
