What reasons do you actually have for being against Christianity? All I've heard is you saying it's against sex and invented by incel-monks which is not true

"ELF radiation weakens the immune system"... and leads to things like "AIDS, Cancer"... WTF??? That is total BS and I thought we were just talking about a film? I love this film, but you shouldn't be making weird un-scientific statements while talking about it.

Where would the Logos fall in the Neoplatonic scheme? Is it the same as the Nous? I still don't know where to place the Greek-Christian Logos in Neoplatonism.
@HyperboreanOrigin17 күн бұрын
@@astralcounterpoint Plotinus saw logos as the essential quality of reason, but in general, all the way to damascius, logos was seen as the intermediary between the one and the many, the organizational function between these modalities. Hope this helps. I must add though, If Parmenides is taken seriously then heraclitus logos is actually illusory, a shadow and isnt a “real” thing. Placing logos lower in the chain of being in the category of apparent phenomena. This being due to the fact that logos function is inseparable from the many which is consequentially temporal due to extension.

Monad is just a compilation of previously published, mainly by thomas taylor. The only addition here is Ken Wheelers introduction.

@ the format is what i’m interested in. I have read Taylor’s translations in cheap paperbacks and the Prometheus Trust academic versions but they’re nothing special for someone who loves beautiful books. Never seen an edition with original artwork and in hardcover so i’ll take it.

I keep making connections as I read this book, I hope I’m not becoming paranoid. I was born the day this book was published and my father worked at Rocketdyne in the 70’s. In my late teens I worked as a tech on the Minutemen and Poseidon missile systems in Northern California in the mid 80’s.

The final comments you made about comparing Schelling with Deleuze, is just now reaching me. Interestingly enough, I know of no one who has attempted to compared the two, and the Deleuze enthusiasts that I have met over the years were not even aware of the possible connections between the two philosophers. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Very well done. Just a couple of nit-picky points: I'm not sure Heidegger ever explicitly categorizes Das Man as a mode of vorhandenheit. The "Anyone" pretty clearly has the mode of being of Dasein in B&T, though there is certainly a systematic relation among the various modes of being in the early works. Thought it might be worth pointing out as well that Heidegger claims science has its roots in authenticity. I never read Heidegger as railing against science per se -- just the possibility of Enframing. Though, again, there's a close relation. Great stuff overall.👍
