When I was a kid I played this game the same way you speedran it, by aggressively save scumming 😂

There's something to be said about how this game using the traditional RPG mechanics instead of SaGa's usual fare resulted in a title that is far less glitchy than its predecessors. On another note, I wasn't fond of the whole beast / robot transformation thing, so I did a transformation-less run through. Outside of a few spots where I had to grind a bit I was able to beat the game at a relatively painless pace.

Underrated game

Human/Mutant stats are more likely to go up vs enemies with stats higher than yours, and every stat except hp is determined by the items used in battle. Thicker swords, hammers, and some of the martial arts raise str; thinner swords, whips, lasers, some martial arts raise agi; shields, defend sword, aegis magi raise def; mag and psi weapons raises mag. If more than one type is used, there’s a rng roll with hp always a possibility. You know which stat correlates with each item by whatever stat goes up when you equip it on a robot. Oh but don’t listen to me, I’m just a crazy old man! 🤪

Try this on the PS1 version, or better yet, the DS Remake. Good luck with these levels and getting this kind of RNG! Seriously, the DS version is one of the hardest turn-based RPGs ever made.

Mate, first time me seeing your FF Legend II run. i thought it looks like the GB game for Goemon Mystical Ninja, the soundtrack on the Goemon is superior actually. Maybe check out that Goemon game if you can :))

The Baby-D evolution reason is actually one bug and one interestingly related feature. The feature is that because your monster is the same as the ones you fight, there's kind of sub-tiers based on when you first encounter the monster. The reason you get a Silver from the babywyrm is because silver is the lowest tier "horse", like how Wererat meat for Baby D yields the lowest tier "fae", the Sprite because there's nothing else it could be. The bug is that the Young-D in Venus's world is mislabeled as Baby-D when it's yours, probably an index or pointer mistake. The Watcher meat just turns any of the Dragon types into an Eye type of the tier Watcher is at. Baby-D has the highest sub tier of the starters so it's evolutions tend to be stronger.

Oh yes! I loved the Legend series. I remember these Final Fantasy games being hard as a kid.

I can never tell if FFL2 speed runners are trolling or if they don't actually know, Mask is Lynn's lost father and not your dad in a disguise but it's definitely played for a gag which is on brand for this game.

I was never great at speed running, but, got the endurance to down....and a goal, since 1995, to play through the game 99 times, New Game plus. Although, after 7 times on the SNES, the file just up and deleted...it was a borrowed copy anyways. So now, using the super slow loading PlayStation version since 2001, I'm currently now, at 65 playthroughs. Maybe by the time I get to 99, they will have remade it....ha, yeah right.

This game was one of my favorites as a child, even though I never beat it. Always entertaining to see you run through the game so quickly!

Trials of Mana is probably the most fun I've had with a Mana game... ever, frankly. The original was good, but buggy. ToM basically made Angela actually fun to use considering she wasn't stuck with a pitiful MP cap. DQ11 was also really good, save for the uh... lack of it knowing when to end. And all the time travel nonsense. It took what had real impact and just kind of ruined it.
