Beautiful guitar and playing. Did you custom order that through Sweetwater or was it a special run that they did? Typically you never see long saddles and 1 11/16 nut width as a normal run. It only took me 1/2 dozen Martin, Santa Cruz, & Collings to figure out what works best for me lol. 1 3/4 has pretty much been the standard for a while. I found myself stumbling with it. It actually slows me down. I’m much more efficient and feel at home with a 1 11/16 nut. You wouldn’t think it make much of a difference but it’s a night/day difference for me.

@@ohiosouthpaw Thanks! I didn't custom order it, I bought it used on Revetb, and actually have it for sale right now on Reverb. It is a Sweetwater special run. Yeah the long saddle and 1 11/16" are unique and very nice. Mod V neck, feels great.

That's a personal choice. I sold the guitar, I think the new owner is putting a pickup in it. If you gig, a pickup makes sense, I generally prefer no pickup, but do put in some of my guitars. The right one would sound great in this.

You bet. Keep in my a HD-28 is typically going to be more open and bassy than a D-28, which is more mid range focused. Either will be a nice compliment to your J-45.

Thanks. Keep in mind an HD-28 typically has a deeper bass and a bigger dynamic range and more open sounding due to the forward shifted scalloped braces, than a standard D-28, which tends to be more mid-range focused punchy.

Do you prefer one guitar over the other? I have a 00028 and am left handed, plus I live in an area where I have no opportunity to even try an OM28 unless I actually order one, so I am curious if you have a favourite? I really love my 00028, but am still curious about the OM28. Do I need both? LOL
@toddvossmusic7833
@toddvossmusic7833 Ай бұрын
Good question. I prefer the comfort of the little bit shorter and little bit easier fingering of the 000 short scale, but because I generally want the more volume and power of the longer scale I often lean towards that. So it just depends on the feel and sound you are after. Also it varies from guitar to guitar. Some 000's are more powerful than some OM's. Also you can compensate either to achieve what you want, by your choice of strings, for more or less punch etc. So I would say if you like your 000, no you don't need an OM. But if you are not getting what you want from it, or you are like me and just want to try everything 😁, then you might try an OM. I too live in an area with no access to a large selection of good guitars, so I buy and sell used on Reverb. Good luck, enjoy what you have, happy pickin'!

Amazing I’d love to learn that but rarely know how to go about it. My D15 is in for a set up with a luthier but they have 8 to do before mine. But yours sounds amazing and I hope mine does to when it comes back plus I really should use my capo more often as I rarely use it
@toddvossmusic7833
@toddvossmusic7833 Ай бұрын
Thanks for your comments. Yeah, it is daunting to figure out how to play a new tune, particularly if it is above our skillset. Helps to break it down, for example just find the starting notes and pick out the simple melody.Then figure out what chords go with it (for example key of G uses G, C and D). Most of my instrumentals are just a combination of a simple melody with strumming of chords or partial chords. Bet your guitar will sound and play great. What pick you use makes a huge difference in the tone you get. I use fairly heavy stiff picks, which give a nice deep fat tone.
