Hello. Why did you choose aluminum over steel, for your pattern? No critique, just curious. Thank you.
@SportsKid006-milbert Жыл бұрын
Aluminum is easier to work and the stiffness of steel is not necessary in this application

I have the same press and I am not very mechanical... Wood is my super power. When drilling the pulley is spinning but it's slipping on the drill shaft. I see some set screws on the pulley and I tightened them and for the moment is working. Is there something else I am missing... I have no knowledge of where a key might be but is that part of the problem?

I love my flush cutters, great for zip-ties, but I keep stabbing myself on them. Any tips for keeping them under control in your tool bag? I considered an elastic band to keep them closed, that would also protect the cutting edges, but ideally you don't want to store them with the spring compressed all the time....

I have a similar EDC kit, the same Klein black and yellows but I have the dumpy version too. I have the Knipex wrench pliers too, I have the 125mm version now and am about to pull the trigger on either the 180 or the 250’s. I have a Klein set of insulated drivers, the ones with the same handle, they are lifetime guarantee and I’ve had 2 replaced with no bother at all ( I’ve had them approx 5 years now ), they were expensive, £230 but I love them and Kleins service has been excellent. My 1/4” drive bit kit is all Bahco, a Bahco T handle 1/4” drive and a ratchet 1/4” drive to use them, and a Bahco mini ratchet which I’m swapping for the Klein version next. All this fits in a Velocity Progear 2.0 bag. I’ve retired my yellow Stanley Fatmax wheeled case, it’s served me very well ( it’s been very durable and great to put heavier boxes on top ) but I’m trying to go lighter as my old back injury is flaring up more and more these days ☹️ I’ve not had much Wera stuff, I did have the insulated etched tip set of drivers a few years back and broke a few tips a bit too easily, so I went to Wiha instead, the Wera stuff looks great though, and has very very good feedback but I committed to Bahco instead so.......................... ☹️ A good video, I love to see other engineers kit, it gives me ideas 🤑🤑🤑

Wera sets are so versatile for their size good call. I'm a building automation engineer. May I suggest adding a 4" adjustable wrench? You'd be surprised at how much you'll use it. A guy that's been doing this for like 25 years suggested it to me my first week

Some recommendations... Oven cleaner works pretty well for the initial cleaning. It even removes some rust. Yup, good old Easy Off. Next, use a gel paint stripper (Citrus Strip) and cover with kitchen plastic wrap to let the gel stay wet and cook off the layers. Next, bring your castings outside, put them on a tarp on the ground, and rinse them off with a power washer. Don't take the chance of hitting one of them with 3000psi at just the right angle and send it flying like I did! Always remember that most old machinery were applied with some nasty version of lead based paint. Using a grinder indoors to strip paint is never a good idea, and no matter what, PPE is a must. That dust gets everywhere in your shop, even if you partition it. Great job on the restoration. I need to find one with the full cabinet.

I haven't been lucky enough to find a complete Walker Turner Radial Drill Press to restore for my shop, but I did find a 15" DP500 with the slow speed pulley system. The machine is in great shape with zero run-out. The paint job is terrible and easily fixed, but the table is destroyed with the predictable home-owner's smiley face drilled clear through the casting. I'll weld it up and resurface it while looking for a suitable (and affordable) replacement. This series looks like fun Milbert, can't wait to see the rest.

Very good representation of Henry's work. You did miss an important feature on this step. Looking at the plan you can see the corner angle on the cutouts are not 90 degrees. It's about 93. This is very important when it comes time to remove the mold! Another important point, blocks are only glued onto the long edge for the same reason. Good work.
