It would be interesting if it finds out he is from a really early version of The Simpsons that was never made till decades later in the 80s.

Puzzles like this always remind me of the old bit from Alice in Wonderland "How is a raven like a writing desk?". When the phrase was first written, it was designed to have no answer, just a bit of madness from the Hatter. But after years of people asking, the answer "Both are prone to a few good notes, and both are never [spelt 'nevar'] put backwards." was coined.

Whether doom is the possum or not I can't say, however doom most likely has strong ties to this cartoon. My evidence while circumstantial has some merit. The weasels are anamorphic animals withe gangster themes the same as the possum, also as pointed out the guns are similar.

I think doom was a toon car and was the possum getaway car over the years doom grow to hate the random roads that of toon town so as the possum cook a plan to rob the bank doom kill him taking over the plan his gun and the weasels was the possum gang as we know doom have a love for long safe roads as we see of toon town the roads can change very fast and are very dangerous and chaotic so as a getaway car doom must have hated the roads of toon town and many think doom is a mechanical toon so I think he was a yellow or golden car

I always thought since I was a kid that Judge Doom is a golden robot toon. It made the most sense to me since he was able to change his own body parts into weapons like a saw blade, boxing gloves, springs from the feet, even turning his eyes into daggers. It would also explain why he’s so heartless, soulless even, since robots have neither, and his plan has both logic put behind it, yet funnily enough can be ironically illogical, and it’s part of industrialization which is known for its metal works, something robots are known for as well. The fact that Doom is a soulless being similar to an automaton who is only interested in progress and doesn’t care who gets hurt in the process, even at his own cold hands is also great satire for both the story and the times it portrayed. I always imagined that under the mask he had a rectangular mouth with razor sharp teeth, a cylindrical head and round soul piercing eyes. Thinking about it still freaks me out to this day.

My first clues about the character of Judge Doom, I always thought the clown shoe that Doom dipped, how the shoe seemed to recognize and rub against Doom's leg, and how the shoe seemed to whine as if it was betrayed, I always thought Doom had dipped the shoe to keep his identity a secret, so that Doom would turn out to be some kind of clown. The eyes, the voice, everything to me always pointed to Judge Doom being a clown cartoon in disguise but, the possum poster adds a bit more light too

In the movie, the only cartoon parts we see of Judge Doom are his eyes and his not-hand. The rest was the human suit he was wearing, even when flattened. When he reappears in the comic, he appears with the same suit from the movie, except as a cartoon... So this means that, in the film, he wore a suit that looks exactly like him, except more human appearing, besides already retouching himself to appear more realistically human. He gets better at it, except for the eyes, when he mimics CB Maroon, a recognized human. The comic also suggests that Doom was making his own cartoons and that it was common but grey-market illegal: his henchman knew exactly where to look, who to talk to and how to operate the camera. I mean... There is an "evil" shop that inks cels, with storefront signage. This also suggests that there may be some people that aren't humans, but hyper-realistically painted cartoons. My theory is that he can't paint his eyes because he can't see through paint, otherwise he would look completely human, all the time.

Just throwing my hat in, I think a much more likely explanation is that he WAS the character from the poster but they changed the flesh tone to yellow because it looked better on screen, and they removed any sort of direct reveal of who he was, if it was ever intended in the first place. Weird little cuts like that happen all the time, especially with movies that have long production times.

Not what...Who. Who Framed Roger Rabbit. It's a statement not a question. Seriously, the whole movie is a 'whodunit' because Who done it. In fact, considering the era it's set in, this 'Who' could be the 'Who' referenced in the "Who's On First" A&C bit.

The Baron Von Rotten theory suggests this strange alternate universe... He stays in character after every role he films, even leaving on the makeup. That makes him... if the timeline didn't make this completely impossible... Peter Sellers!
@Xhumed8 күн бұрын
The P-PP theory doesn't really hold up to scrutiny. For a start, Possum's eyes are brown. It doesn't explain the shape-shifting, Doom doesn't have any Possum-like features, the clothes are just period-appropriate clothes. At the end of the day, even if we knew who he was, it wouldn't matter, because it wouldn't be a known character, just one made up for the movie.

In the graphic novel Roger Rabbit: The Resurrection of Doom, it is explained that Doom was originally a Toon named Baron Von Rotten, who took up the role of playing villains and antagonists in movies, until an accident in which Von Rotten suffered a concussion and awakened believing that he was a real villain.

Looking at cartoon characters that could fit the bill for Judge Doom, there is one that I found that is real interesting, but despite being old, might not be old enough for the setting. The very first version of PacMan. That version was an odd yellow dude with feet, no arms, and very red eyes. With the shapeshifting aspect of Doom's arms, it is reasonable that he might have the ability to retract them completely. It might even give him reason, if he was created to sell the games, only to be rejected immediately for a "better" version Again, it is basically impossible, but very interesting
@syynoflaw47189 күн бұрын
Yes, I actually do. Lemme set me set up a point first... (). The comic doesn't want to give any definitive answers beyond being a comic. Thus the only model they use is one that's based entirely on the guise. Its not meant to give answers, its meant to just tell a story. Hence why it has all the accuracy of a Saturday morning cartoon--its all symbolic. I wouldn't take it as anything serious, its Fan-Fiction. ... Now then. He's golden, he's a shapeshifter that deals mostly in Devices or making himself become objects... Something that, if you notice in the film, none of the other toons do. When the other toons have a form, they stick to it... ... So what's up with this guy? Well, we actually pinpoint what kind of toon he is first--he's a Rubberhose Animation toon. Rubberhose Animation Cartoons don't stay on model, are prone to shapeshifting for both humor and metaphor, and are constantly in action. He's from the same era as Betty Boop (and Popeye--who is not in the film). The style is from the 1920s. So on that alone, he's already a Much Older Toon. His golden appearance? Like a toon, might actually be a metaphor for what time period he's from--the Golden Age of Animation, from 1928-1960s. "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" takes place in 1947, so about 20 years in. (A good way to note the style of the time in real life would be Tom and Jerry--its about the point where Tom starts looking less like cartoon cat and more like a humanoid-cat cartoon straight outta loony toons, and inspite of it being the 40s--cartoons were colored... provided you had a color TV to view them). - In Roger Rabbit verse, we can note that characters of some popularity do get coloration, where characters who may have the same reputation but not the same level of popuarlity do not. Consider Betty Boop's black n white coloring, to Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse or Daffy and Donald Duck. That means whatever toon Judge Doom is--they're Very Popular. Otherwise they would've been either black n white or yellow based on their animation card. This also means that just because the toon is black n white on the screen, doesn't mean they're black n white in person, to follow the world-build. Paint Jobs could be a trend. - It also appears that cartoons that were once rubber hose, like Mickey Mouse once was, have also received Style Updates. He's no longer Rubberhose anymore. So by all this so far, we're looking at: - A much older toon, due to his rubberhose animation shapeshifting. - Popular enough to receive a repaint, specifically in gold, as a potential metaphor for the Golden Age. - But hasn't receive a full style update. He maintains his rubberhose nature, but his eyes mimic cartoon styles from the 1930s (think Snow White). + Addition: While all toons receive some of it--it seems a lot of Doom's stchick is Slap Stick Humor... put to its most Logical Extreme. By this, we're looking at a toon from the 1930s. Prolly right in the middle where Rubberhose animation began to go out of style, and Cel Animation (of which, nearly every toon in the movie is) became popular. Potential motives: - Potentially, a toon that very much disliked the idea of Cel Animation and has been trying to destroy the toons, "lame brain style" for it. The entire plan could only be cooked up by an older toon like that. + Potential Story Build--the reason Cel animation updates started occuring is Because Slapstick humor is more dangerous to humans (who would not be able to live through that sort of thing) than it would for toons. So cel animation isn't just a technology boost, its also a way to help toons become more capable of leaving toon town without accidentally killing someone. + General Assumption: Rubberhose Cartoons are Dangerous in real life, because they are amoral, unempathetic, prone to causing massive damage, off-model and just, plain psychotic. (Just look at a Felix cartoon, or old Popeye. Is it any wonder the Sailor didn't appear in-universe? That strength would murder humans). So. Since we know that ToonTown primarily deals in cartoonish cel animations, and historically, the first cel animation film was Snow White--we can make the assumption that less cartoonish toons prolly reside with their creators (Snow White isn't just a costume in-universe, she's actually walking around Disney World--that sort of thing ) [ Damn, am I actually wondering what cartoons would be like in real life, based on the concepts behind Roger Rabbit? You're damn right I am. ] [ Damn, does this also mean there is discrimination among toons too? When does the world build speculation end... ] So... What does this mean for Judge Doom? Well, we have a motive and a why and how, we have a general era he's from, we know he's popular enough to receive a coloring update, but not enough to have a style update (or perhaps, he refused a style update). So who the hell is he? Actually, this is easy. All the things he becomes? Are devices or metal of some sort. The actions he causes are specifically life ending, and his ultimate goal is to cause mass destruction. And its a popular enough concept to be featured in NEARLY EVERY CARTOON AT LEAST ONCE. Its in his name, "Doom". He's "The Doomsday Device". Every cartoon, from the early rubber hose to cel antimation, has featured a doomsday device. A device only meant to cause as much destruction as possible, or to cause destructive effects. Just add a mad scientist and you're GOLD. He'd shapeshift to fit the scene and style of the cartoon, hence why it doesn't appear that he has many details to begin with. Only unfortunately, it appears he's taken his on-screen doom tendencies to real life.
