Wow! You must be made of money to be paying $229 for a pair of trousers. Quite astonishing how you live such a comfortable life that you're able to afford those ridiculous prices.

I could, if I had to, walk off the airport property at my home airport. But it's what you might call a "one-horse" airport. Five commuter airlines, one runway, one single baggage claim carousel, no jetways.

I often travel with a flute in my backpack. Several years ago, my backpack stayed on the conveyor and the two guys staring at the screen kept running it back and forth and mumbling at each other. Finally they released my pack, and I picked it up. One of the guys said, "That yours?" "Yes." "Flute?" "Yes." He turned to his co-worker and said, "I TOLD you!" Last year my backpack was delayed again. So once I'd gone through the metal detector, I hollered back, "It's a flute!" The guy replied, "Yes, I know, and that's a REALLY nice camera!" He was lusting after my DSLR. Go figure.

I worry about the quick-release buckle on most sling bags, in high-crime pickpocket areas . It would only be a matter of a bump by a theft, and a handoff to another passing by. In areas like this, I put a keyring split ring, though the buckle stoping the release.

Frontier cancelled my flight and refused to offer any type of credit except to book me three days later (on a 5 day trip). Gave up after six months of calling and complaining. Got nothing. Haven’t flown them since, nor Southwest, who also stole a ticket from me back when their ticket booking agents stole flights and went to jail. I got caught in that and they kept my money. No flight credit, no nothing.

If a flight arrives on schedule, it is on time. Otherwise it would not be on time, unless it was early???

I miss the good old days when airlines treated passengers like honored guests. Now, it is all a shell game with the passenger treated like cargo.

I was delayed over 4 hours in a flight from Thailand to Qatar where I was transferring to a Qatar--> USA flight. Obviously I lost the connecting flight in Qatar and was given NOTHING. I had to purchase a flight from NY to Florida because of that 4 hour delay.

I was in a window seat for a flight that took off almost an hour late. I was worried about my connection (obviously). I told the couple in the other two seats where I was going, assuming I caught the flight and it was on time. They understood how important it was to me to get there. So as soon as the seat belt light went off, they stood up and blocked the aisle so I could get out. And one of them grabbed my backpack out of the overhead compartment for me. Fortunately, the connecting flight was departing from the same concourse. I ran as fast as I could and when I came around the corner, the gate area was empty but the door was still open. The gate agents called me by name and said they were waiting for me, as they knew the lateness of the flight I had just come off of. They shut the door practically on my heels, and I got to my destination on time. (My suitcase didn't make it, but it was delivered to my hotel before bedtime.)

As someone who flew over 100k miles annually for the past several years (before and after COVID), I have never seen a physical boarding pass line vs a mobile boarding pass line. Ever. On the other hand, mobile passport when coming back into the US is awesome.

I don't mind the padding of arrival times, as it helps with plans at the destination. If I am early, great, but if I am "on time" per the posted arrival, I am not late to the rental car counter, or more importantly, someone picking me up isn't kept waiting despite our delays. Recently, a Delta flight I was to take to visit my girlfriend originally was delayed an hour, and then they sent a notice that my flight wouldn't be leaving for another five hours. I appreciated the truthful notice, because I was able to return home, and eat at home. As a night owl, a flight at 12;30 a.m. was no big deal, but this way, I was able to tell my girlfriend not to wait up for me, and make plans to call a car service upon landing. (The bonus was a deserted Delta terminal at LGA, and I was got to enjoy a nearly empty airport and the few amenities still open.

When I was in the Marine Corps, I would fly from Oakland to San Diego frequently to see my parents. Flight time was 55 minutes (1977). Today, the same flight is now 1:20 minutes. Ca must of stretched in the years! This is ridiculous.

I disagree with wearing leggings and things that make you look like a tourist. You are just asking to be robbed. Dress like the locals to avoid this. I would try to fit in more to protect myself from theft. You will be a target if you wear things they don't wear in Europe.

Backpacks not a good idea for Europe. Too risky to be pick pocketed. All items should be worn in front. Also little packs like the one you show in this video just screams tourist. Europeans don't wear these and the thieves will know you are a tourist. I would try to fit in to look like a local to avoid theft.

A good review. I think I should come to the defense of airline flight delays however. While it is true that there is some jiggling of timings to suit the airline for various reasons, many flight delays are genuine. The main two genuine types of delays are maintenance issues and weather. Pre-flight checks by engineers and pilots can only do so much, and there are massive redundancies in the system, particularity with regard to safety. Suppose you get a warning light on the instrument panel in the cockpit? Or even worse, a light that should come on, but does not during the start-up of a system? It could just be a faulty indicator light, or it could be a real problem. it could even be an incorrectly set circuit-breaker ["fuse"]. So the problem had to be diagnosed and remedied. This can take anything from seconds or minutes to long hours. Human-caused global warming does not just affect climate, but weather also! [Folks who are flat-earth enthusiasts may want to skip this part]. Basically during global warming, energy accumulates in the atmosphere at a greater rate than it is lost into space. Seas and oceans also warm. So weather perturbations are not only more frequent than before, but more violent. Short version: More storms and hurricanes, of greater power. But even "normal" weather is different. Unstable conditions like wind-sheer, variable wind speeds, turbulence in the air, all of which can make take-offs, landings, routes [the aircraft flying around a storm], fuel economy, more complex etc, etc. Of course flight and cabin crew are trained for all this, and so the average passenger will get cushioned from these concerns. So what is modern air travel really? Absurdly safe, relatively cheap, very quick and quite comfortable. [And I say that as an "old fart" with back problems]. So you are in a winged hollow aluminum bullet, loaded with tons of inflammable fuel, and hundreds of other passengers, traveling at hundreds of miles per hour. Pretty damned amazing when you think about it. But we passengers are whingers. I am not playing "holier than thou", because I whinge too. Straw-manning this argument a little bit, Pan Am did not deserve it's fate. The Lockerbie tragedy was simply not it's fault. But the public killed it. Yes, corporations can make some bad business decisions from time to time. But we humans are not always rational. Again, this is not a criticism of folks who lost their loved ones, because grief is part of what makes us human. The terrorists were to blame, not Pan-Am. This is not an argument against compensation when a passenger is greatly inconvenienced. Because people are paying for a service, and rightly expect it. But give me an aircraft over a ship any day. Maximum time for that holiday or whatever. A few hours delay [perhaps], a bit of jet-lag, and the occasional reach for an air-sick bag [the last never happened to me]. That is about it really. And be kind to cabin-crew.

Delay reporting departures is beyond annoying in april i had a delta flt from mex city to atlanta I arrived at the gate an hour early and the plane was sitting at the gate. We boarded 20 min late and once all were boarded and door closed pilot announces we have to be fueled and it will be 10 minutes. We left the gate an hour later , lost our place in line on the runway, had to go,to back of line delaying us a further 45 min. My 3 hr layover in atlanta was thus reduced to 55 minutes but i made it (i run fast) Why was the plane not fueled in advance esp as it was sitting there for over an hour prior to boarding? And 10 min turning into one hr is inexcusable.

This is such a game. Why does everyone make the customer jump thru hoops or beg. And if you don’t know how to play the game, you lose and the guy that takes advantage over and over or the squeaky wheel gets what they want.

Fully empty ghost flights are an aberration that should not exist in 2024. If you’re that desperate to keep the slot find a way to give away the seats for free (like to company employees for ex) or do _something_ so that it serves a minimum of purpose. This is such an irresponsible, avoidable waste of resources and source of pollution.
