Yeah, it’s definitely grainy. I came here to see if it was just mine, but it seems to be a ting. Saying that, for how I use it, it is passable. I’ve played the alien MR game and find it enjoyable. Other than that it makes it easy to walk around while wearing it.

@aline.tech.reviewsКүн бұрын
They've actually sold these headsets at a loss, to get more people into their ecosystem for future profits. Meaning they'd probably be closer to the $600-1,000 mark if Meta was a smaller company that couldn't subsidize for furure potentials.

Great Video thank you! I currently have a quest one (which I haven’t used for a long time due to its issues) and am keen to get a new headset, however I don’t know how much time I’d spend on it. Would I notice much difference if I got the 3s, never used pancake lenses so don’t know any better.

Thank you! If you have a Quest 1 and need to upgrade, but don't plan on using it much, I'd still recommend getting a used Quest 3 (if you can) for the same price as a new 3S. Otherwise, grab the 3S - recommendation is based on the fact that the clarity/resolution will still technically still be an upgrade for you and you're already used to Fresnel lenses (same lens type as the Quest 1 but slightly improved version).

I’m a complete noob with VR, I picked up the 3s and have been generally blown away. Just watching KZbin on a theater screen is surreal to me, I’m sure it’ll lose its luster but it’s pretty damn cool. Your criticisms are completely valid however, especially with regards to content. If you’re not using this with a computer your game selection is pretty thin. Still an incredible piece of tech to me though. All the best to you my friend, really top notch review. Subbed.
@aline.tech.reviews18 сағат бұрын
Love to hear it! The first-time experience is definitely mind-blowing, and honestly that feeling never really goes away (though it does get caked in a lot of frustration as you go deeper and realize everything is a pain to setup LOL - but that's the price to pay for being on the "cutting edge" of technology). Be sure to check out some of the 180/360 video experiences, too! KZbin has them (but the app makes the quality bad); try out the "DeoVR" app. If you have any 3D movies or 360 videos on your computer, move those files over or use Plex to stream them and use the "Skybox" app to ruin them. These immersive videos are where the experience gets next level!! Honestly, you can do so much more than game with these things - which is the category I fall into. I rarely play the games and generally find them to be lacking in quality/experience (outside a handful of the classics).
@Brett-e4p18 сағат бұрын
@@aline.tech.reviews Hell yes, thank you. I tried some of the KZbin 360 videos and they were not good. I will definitely check out those apps. You're absolutely correct, I tried the games for a minute and it's cool but most definitely not the selling point for me personally, and I'm a gamer. Happy New Year dude

Got the 3s as I heard there wasn't a lot of difference between the headsets, then after trying it for 6 days I decided to return it and get the Quest 3. There is a BIG difference between the 2 devices. The 3s is basically a Quest 2 with a slight upgrade. The 3 feels more premium and the biggest difference is the visual quality. The pancake lenses make a huge difference. 2 other things informed my decision: 1. I got a voucher for e90, so that kinda softened the price difference a bit - 2. There probably won't be a Quest 4 until mid 2026, so if you are thinking a Quest 3s will just do until 2025, you may be waiting a lot longer, stuck with the inferior device.

@CaineTheGamer.8 сағат бұрын
@@aline.tech.reviews honestly the OLED in the quest one is definitely too slow and causes awful streaking and worse visual quality as a result, more than anything its just not having to spend money plus i do pcvr more than anything and the quest one charges up while playing with the link cable whereas all the later models would die slowly even with the link cable

In this case, it is an improved version of the Quest 2, and many people praise the 2, so I think it is worth buying, especially since here in Brazil the basic version costs around 3200 BRL, but the Quest 3 (128gb) costs 5000, if you look at it the difference is very big, around 1800 BRL, and importing it is expensive, the dollar is expensive, but in the opinion of whoever is seeing the comment, the 3s is worth it in my opinion No caso ele é uma versão melhorada do Quest 2,e muitas pessoas elogiam 2 então acho que vale a pena comprar, principalmente que aqui no Brasil a versão básica custa por volta de 3200 BRL,mas o Quest 3 (128gb) custa 5000,se olhar a diferença é muito grande,por volta de 1800 BRL,e se importar fica caro,o dólar está caro,mas na opinião de quem está vendo o comentário, vale a pena o 3s nessa minha visão?

I'm a quest 2 user to this day. It's still a phenomenal piece of kit, as someone who used the OG Rift CV1 it feels like an utterly gargantuan leap forward in VR for me. The quest 3 is undoubtedly incredible but I'm waiting for the next update - q2 to q3 just doesn't feel like it's worth the investment unless the latter falls in price a lot. I'm still thrilled with my q2 and it can run nearly any game the q3 can, especially with pcvr games.

That's the model I have, it's not worth upgrading to 512GB unless you have a family using it, are a content creator, or have slow internet. I'd keep it and uninstall/reinstall games when you need to. Otherwise you'll be selling at a loss and rebuying at the same price which is silly. If you didn't have one already, then 512GB is the way to go.

@aline.tech.reviews3 күн бұрын
Glad it helped!! And yea, that's not really a fair comparison that holds any weight because they serve two wildly different functions. I have both, the Meta AI glasses are just a pair of glasses with a camera and useless AI on them without any screens or AR or anything (no real use case in my opinion outside filming stuff or asking random questions you could ask your phone) for near the same price you can get a Quest 3S/used Quest 3 and get an entire VR headset with screens, better cameras, and an inifinite number more of use cases. Quest headset all the way.

I purchased the quest 3S because I just wanted to play VR as quickly as possible and $400 was right at my price range. By the way that’s how much I paid for this headset. I don’t really care if it’s lower quality, if it’s the same as its cousin then that’s all I really care about. If it was less powerful then I would just save up for a quest three. But it’s not so I got it. Best purchase I’ve ever made.😊

I have to get a Q3 if I upgrade from 2 because I both use glasses and my pupillary distance does not fall into the 3 presets, so it's a slightly blurry and rainbowy (whatever it's called when the edges of stuff looks like different colors) experience for me a lot of times
@aline.tech.reviews3 күн бұрын
Yea, you aren't alone! A lot of people have the same issue - it's disheartening because it may cause many believe that is normal and just a limitation of VR. Meta does a poor job at explaining the importance of IPD and adjusting the headset on your face, for a company targetting newcomers to VR. That said, the Quest 3 effectively solves that issue and gives you a good taste of how clear and crisp VR can be. IMO, it is the new standard and you should not look back if you want a comfortable, clear, and enjoyable experience.

I get so motion sick on the quest 2. Is it worth spending the money on the 3?
@aline.tech.reviews3 күн бұрын
It's worth trying - you get a pretty safe return/refund window. It could help if the IPD and misalignment of the Q2 is amplifying your motion sickness. Otherwise, motion sickness is something most people can acclimate to (by changing settings in games to the "motion sick friendly" modes and increasing play time slowly over time). However, some people just have too much motion sickness for it to be worth it. TLDR; it's highly personalized, but worth a shot since Meta has a no-questions-asked return policy.

Is in worth is if you use in for normal work, like Word, PowerPoint and mail? I dont have the room for multiple screens and would like to know if this is a good option😄
@aline.tech.reviews3 күн бұрын
It's *OK*. Working in VR is awesome!! But, with the Quest 3, I find that my eyes get strained pretty quickly due to the way text is rendered on the screen.. so if you're doing a lot of reading and writing (Word, Mail, etc.), then it's good for like 1-2 hour sprints before I need to take a break. Working in VR is super fun and can help keep you much more focused than you would be outside the headset, and the Quest 3 is good enough for that, but the resolution and text aliasing is just a bit too low to be a great experience. I find it's fatiguing to read text for extended periods. Everything else is fine. On the other hand, the Apple Vision Pro is perfect (it's just way too expensive for what it offers). If work is your primary use case, I'd wait for the Immersed Visor, Pimax Dream, or Samsung/Google XR headsets in 2025. All should have 4k resolution screens with much better tect display. They will be a little more expensive - the Visor is $1,000, for example - but are worth that extra cost if you're using it daily for your job.
@johndeer4703 күн бұрын
@ Thank you so much for your quick and detailed response! I do indeed intend to use it for daily purposes, as my work mainly involves writing policies and reading policy documents. Recent leaks, from fragments mined from their codebase, and general rumors of folks in the field with insider knowledge, suggest it's being developed and actively heading into production. IIRC the last rumor was they were actively tooling their controller sets for mass production. 2025 is seemingly plausible if those are true. Worth holding out, IMO.

I truly appreciate that! ♥ It's great to hear my videos garner this response, it's immense fuel for pushing forward. =) I also understand completely, and am sorry to disappoint! Making videos takes way too long in my current state of affairs. I've been hunkered down building a dedicated filming room + building a process for writing scripts/editing more quickly + upgrading my local network storage (it's insane how much space 4k videos require!) - all to streamline that process to get videos out more consistently in 2025. There's also a personal hurdle I need to overcome - I spend weeks writing scripts and obsessively editing them (and the videos) to get everything "perfect". Even that Tuesday Newsday video took me 12-14 days to finish (which is waaayyy too long). I need to get smaller videos out in 2-3 days, while I'm working on a larger review in the background. I'm going to experiment with a few smaller video ideas between my bigger reviews in January-February to see how the audience responds.

The 3S will be fine for the newbie VR user but that's only because they will not have spent time trying the 3 by comparison. Evern for a "light" VR user, the factory refurb 3 128GB at $379 is the best value as people that don't have a lot of time to play games or watch movies every week will just end up with a small handful of their favorites. Now once the 512GB starts being offered as a refurb, then that is a game changer. The sweet spot with these devices and others like flagship cellphones is to buy certified refurb as soon they become available roughly a year after launch. Edit: 512GB is available in refurb for $449.
